Video Transcript for Feature Breakdown: Replacement Roadmaster Tow Bar Quick Disconnect Kit

Today we're gonna take look at the Roadmaster tow bar quick disconnect kit. Now these quick disconnects will allow for a nice quick, easy one person connection and disconnection of your Roadmaster car mounted tow bar.The set will include two car side components, which are these two right here. These attach to the tow bar mounting brackets on your vehicle and it includes two tow bar side components that attach to the crossbar on the tow bar assembly, and the car side ones, the design of the quick disconnects on the car side ones are nice 'cause it will let you mount various towing accessories, has an extra hole here so you can use safety cables. Has a place where you can attach the guardian rock shield, the tow defender deflector can also be attached to these car side quick disconnects. Now the hardware all laid out here on the table, everything on the table here is included and again, it's the two tow bar side quick disconnects. There's a driver's and passenger side. The two car side quick disconnects, driver's side and passenger side, the four backing plates, the four 1/2" bolts, four 1/2" washers, four 1/2" lock washers, and then four 1/2" nuts.

Nice set of detailed instructions on how this all goes together and then the two lynch pins right here on the car side disconnects. But basically what happens is these are connected again to your tow bar mounting brackets; just slide out your lynch pin and then this is attached to the crossbar on your tow bar assembly so when you get together, you just drop the pin in there, over the top one and through the bottom one, and then take your lynch pin, line it up, slide it through, and once you slide it all the way through, make sure it's fully closed. The pull is even large enough you could put a lock through there if you would want to, but again then that'll hold it together and then to disconnect it, just take off the pin, remove the tow bar side and then there be your car side. But that should do it for the review on the Roadmaster tow bar quick disconnect kit.

The entire Roadmaster tow kit fit my 2015 Jeep Wrangler perfectly. The quick disconnects are really trick and easy to install and use. With this system I can unhook at the campground and be ready to drive off in a couple of minutes. Alignment during hookup is also very easy. Nice safe, reasonably priced set up. Thanks, Dave

I was able to easily install these to the crossbar for my towbar. I like the ease of hooking up my Colorado Bison ZR2 to my Class C Nexus Viper 27V motorhome. All I have to do is place the crossbar onto the brackets mounted on my Roadmaster baseplate removable pins.

I'am in the process of setting up my 2017 Equinox to tow behind our motorhome. I've placed 4-orders with etrailer. So far I've installed the base plate, the wiring from the rear tail lights to the front end.I also received my Tow bar and the quick release parts. my next project is to install the invisi brake system. I want to send Kudos to Cathy T for her help and her great customer service. I'am also thanking James A for his quick response to a question about the wiring harness. I'am extremely happy with the quality of everything I ordered at etrailer. Thanks

by:

Quick Disconnects are a must for using this Roadmaster towbar on a Jeep GC. Installation was a little difficult since we did not have the carriage bolts from the towbar. I bought some grade 5 bolts as suggested. Aligning the QDs to come on and off is not easy, took about a half an hour with a helper. The safety cable is a little short so we will have to add another C-link before we go. I like the economy shipping option though.

Super happy with our 2014 Mini Cooper Roadmaster Tow Bar Quick disconnect kit. Easy install and easy to connect and disconnect. Our Customer service agent was also excellent.

by:

High marks to etrailer for having the right parts to reuse an old Stowmaster tow bar given to me by a friend. It was more advantageous to go to etrailer to find these. I tried to find this at Roadmaster but they were not helpful.

by:

Great quality, perfect fit.

by:

Ordered additional items for tow bar mounts. Carmel was very helpful. I couldn't figure out which items I need to go from Roadmaster to Blue Ox. She give me the part numbers after searching their data base and ordered what I needed. Order was sent right out and I received the items three days later.

by:

The product is fine but the installation instructions don't appear to be correct. I am attaching this to the base plate 1411-2 and the two drawings show the connection differently. Very confusing... I spoke to E-trailer today and the lady I spoke to agreed that there was something incorrect about the RM-201 instructions.

Husband mounted/installed these parts; have towed our Honda Fit with no issues at least 5,000 miles

Flat towing a vehicle requires 5 basic components: tow bar, safety cables, wiring harness, base plates and a supplemental braking system. We offer RoadMaster Base Plate to Blue Ox and Demco Tow Bars Adapter part # RM-033 that will require the Roadmaster Tow Bar Quick Disconnect Kit # RM-201. • Will My Tow Bar Cross Bar Work with a Roadmaster Base Plate Kit # 317-2 on a 1997 Nissan Pickup
If the tow bar you have is a Roadmaster tow bar or you have a cross bar adapter to Roadmaster base plates then, yes, the Roadmaster Classic Base Plate Kit, item # 317-2, for your 1997 Nissan Pickup will work with it. You will most likely need a set of car side quick disconnects, item # RM-222, to connect the cross bar to the base plates, if you did not retain the car side brackets from your 1991 Nissan. If you have a different brand of tow bar, and do not have a Roadmaster tow bar adapter,...

Flat towing your Jeep Wrangler behind your Class A motor home will require the tow bar, a lighting/wiring kit, safety chains, base plates and a supplemental braking system. The linked article will give you background on each of these. The Quick Disconnect system for Roadmaster tow bars consists of both vehicle-side and tow-bar-side parts. Car-side brackets are available alone as part # RM-222 and tow bar-side brackets as part # RM-221. The complete bracket kit is part # RM-201; this includes...

  • Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2009 Smart fortwo Passion
The first thing you will want to do is consult the vehicle owners manual to determine the proper towing procedure of the vehicle. From the research I did, the car should be flat towable as is but you will still want to confirm by checking the owners manual. The Blue Ox base plate kit that fits your 2009 Smart fortwo does require trimming of spoiler, air dam, grill or plastic fascia on some models. There's a fair amount of mechanical aptitude needed for installation and I recommend having...

If that bracket is not blocking the openings on the crossover tube then # 118-3 is correct. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you. The 118-3 base plates have a part of the bracket that looks like a tube that needs to be inserted into that crossover tube. If the ends are blocked then you...

I checked the owner's manual for the 2000 Chevy Tracker and you can flat tow 4x4 versions of the 2000 Chevy Tracker! See pages 4-44 and 4-45 in your manual for additional information. To flat tow the vehicle you will need base plates, a tow bar, safety cables, lighting, and supplemental braking. For base plates you can use Roadmaster XL base plates # 1012-1. With them you can use the Tracker tow bar # RM-020. But to make the base plate arms easily removable you will also need quick disconnects...

If it is an RS automatic you will need to have it on a trailer with all 4 wheels off the ground. First, this tow bar is rated for a maximum of 45 miles per hour which is fine for short hops around town but useless for highway use.
