Electronic controller activates electric or electric-over-hydraulic trailer brakes with a preset intensity when you apply the brakes in your vehicle. Power output and braking aggressiveness are adjustable. Includes LED display and manual override.

Specs:
The Venturer applies your trailer's brakes when the brake pedal in your tow vehicle is engaged. Every time you apply the brakes in your vehicle, a signal is sent - via the brake switch - to the Venturer. The controller then sends power out to your trailer brakes to activate them with an intensity set by you, at a rate determined by you. Both the amount of braking power (output) and rate of application (sync) can be adjusted to suit your preference, the road conditions, type of trailer, and size of the load. To determine which levels are best for your application, you must test out your towing setup and choose what feels best.
A time-delay controller is so named because there is a delay between the time that you initially apply the brakes in your tow vehicle and the time that the controller reaches maximum power output. Unlike a proportional brake controller, which activates your trailer's brakes based on the deceleration of your tow vehicle, the Venturer sends power out in the same way, with the same gradual delay, no matter the braking situation. Although this delay always exists, it can be adjusted by changing the sync setting.
The above diagram shows the controls and components of the Curt Venturer trailer brake controller.
During the initial setup process, use the slide-bar control on top of the Venturer to adjust the output. The output control lets you set the maximum amount of power that will be applied to your trailer's brakes. Typically, the output is only readjusted when you experience changing road conditions or if you switch over from a heavy, loaded trailer to a much lighter, empty trailer, or vice versa. To get more power to your brakes, slide the switch to the right. To decrease the power output, slide it to the left. The bars on the LED display indicate the output setting from 1 to 8.
To adjust the aggressiveness of your trailer's braking action, use the slide-bar control on the side of the Venturer to change the sync setting. If you want to reach maximum power output faster, move the switch forward. To get smoother braking action, slide the switch backward, thus supplying power to the trailer brakes more gradually. You can alter the sync setting to suit your driving preferences or to improve handling based on changing road conditions or varied trailer loads.
Quick, Simple Installation
Because inertia plays no role in the functioning of this controller, you do not have to mount the unit at any particular angle. As a result, mounting options are limitless, so long as you can still easily access the controller.
Installation of the Venturer requires that you either purchase a custom wiring adapter designed to plug into the controller or that you hardwire the controller directly into your vehicle. To hardwire the Venturer, you must remove the plug at the end of the integrated wiring harness.
Installation Accessories
For easier installation, a vehicle-specific wiring adapter (sold separately) is available for most newer trucks and SUVs. One end of the custom adapter plugs into your vehicle, and the other end plugs into the controller - no hardwiring required.
Note: If a custom brake control wiring adapter is not available for your vehicle, one of the following will be required:
20-Amp circuit breaker (9506P - sold separately) for 2- to 4-brake applications
30-Amp circuit breaker (38630 - sold separately) for 6-brake applications
See also etrailer.com's exclusive 7- and 4-way brake control installation kit (ETBC7 - sold separately) if you don't already have a 7-way plug at the back of your vehicle.

When used with part number C51515, easy install, hardest part of install is deciding where to drill into your new vehicle's dash to mount controller, or just ask your wife :). The included test light makes finding the correct "cold" brake wire a breeze. 82283
I installed the Curt C51110 along with Plug & Play C51382 into my 2016 Frontier. The installation took me about 2 minutes. I did not drill holes or use the supplied mounting bracket, just Velcro. Works perfectly! 291590
Didn’t use do to lack of wiring that it doesn’t come with. Was looking for more of a plug in and go. Used a different product will try to use this on a different vehicle. 545769
Excellent site! Excellent information and How-To videos! Saved several hundred dollars installing myself. Free shipping was a bit slow, but that's expected. Will definitely recommend! 135036
Sorry for the late follow-up. I just wanted to let you know that the brake controller and wiring harness I purchased through eTrailer worked very well with my 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 with the Cummins 6.7L diesel. Pictures are attached for your use, as required. The trailer was an 18-foot enclosed snow machine tailer with a steel chassis. I can't remember the empty weight, but it's substantial. We towed empty and full on dry and snow covered roads from Oklahoma to Colorado and back. Even with th exhaust brake on my truck, I can't imagine towing this load through the hills and mountains without a brake controller. It's been done before, but I would say it's an unnecessary risk given the more than reasonable prices at eTrailer...it was cheap insurance pulling such a heavy rig with my family on board. The controller was definitely not your top-of-the-line model, but the adjustability and controls were more than adequate for somebody who tows occasionally. A professional may desire more proportional controls and adjustability, but not much more. This unit peformed flawlessly. Thank you for your time. Please feel free to contct me if you would like any clarification on my statements or pictures. 121176
The CURT Venturer brake controller works as described in the user guide. It would be better if the display LED segments were bright enough to see in bright light. My installation is different from most. I mounted the brake controller and a trailer 7-pole socket to my Trailer Valet with a magnet and use the controller to operate the electric brakes on my trailer. This is far better than relying on the Trailer Valet brake alone, especially when moving the trailer on a grade. 557200
Received product very fast. Everything I ordered was exactly what I got. Plug and play with what i ordered. It was hooked up with in less than 2 minutes then a couple minutes to screw in the bracket screws. Very pleased . I needed trailer brakes because I bought a camper and I did not want to wear out my truck brakes faster than normal. I looked around locally and on internet Etrailer had the best deal . 552650
The adjustments are too sensitive. It does nothing or it locks up the brakes. The unit in my other truck had a digital readout. I will replace it with a better unit. I think Curt is a good product, I just should have bought a better unit. 558307
seems to work great, just right for my small single axle trailer. 122699
Thanks for your follow up and reply. I agree with you the proportional brake controllers are much better, especially for frequent towing. Our best selling ones are the Tekonsha P2 # 90885
Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 4 Axles - Proportional
$234.41 and the P3 # 90195
Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 4 Axles - Proportional
$134.99.
product works great, I was only slightly disappointed as the mounting hardware could be a little stronger. Screws that mount into the controller fit loosely and tend to vibrate out when driving. 934697
Highly recommend this. This only cost $63 shipped. I installed this in less than 15 minutes. Super easy. Works perfectly. Dealer wanted $300. 924745
Great customer service and follow through. Product as described. 917877
It shipped quick and it worked like a charm. Plug and play on my 2004 G M C 2500 908639
Brake is very sensitive, a small adjustment goes a long way . Overall a very effective brake that is an easy quick connect install. 907856
Easily installed in 2017 Tahoe 904486
great communication and fast shipment 898202
I've got this unit on my 1981 Bread Truck style van and my 2000 Chevy Astro. I normally pull a 20' Tandem Axle Toy Hauler trailer that is in the 4000#+ area. I have to keep the controller turned way down it is so efficient with that weight. Verry happy and will buy one again if needed. I couldn't use the standard plug but that was expected and it wasn't a problem changing it. 883921
Excellent, perfect fit 882062
