Is this right for you? Product Expert Kathleen M says:
Yes, if you:
Have a third brake light camera to see the color-coded latch indicators so you don't have to get in and out of your truck when hooking up
Go down washboard roads to get to your favorite campgrounds and need a little extra shock absorption to keep from feeling every bump
No, if you:
Have a trailer with a rotating pin box, such as the Reese Sidewinder, Reese Revolution, or 5th Airborne Sidewinder
Want the most for your dollar - the Q25 is essentially the exact same hitch with a slightly higher rating
Would rather have an American-made hitch

Get peace of mind with Curt's color-coded lock indicator. Just look at the indicator - either the one on the handle or the one on the hitch itself - to determine whether the jaw is in the correct position to uncouple (red), couple (yellow) or tow (green).
360-Degree Pivot
Curt's unique spherical axial bearing provides a durable pivot point that allows easy, 360-degree movement of the hitch head. This ball joint is designed for smooth, quiet operation with less clunking and chucking.

I purchased a higher rated (weight) Curt hitch to prevent 'rolling' forward during hard stops. The new hitch far exceeds my trailer weight but I continue to have the problem, although not as often. I had the new hitch professionally installed.877237
It turned out the Curt hitch was not the problem, it was the pinbox which ultimately failed and was replaced by that manufacturer in June.

I love dealing with Etrailer, unit came in one piece and early......and OMG this hitch is incredible!! 4 bolts and it's in. I hitched up literally in minutes. CURT makes it idiot proof...853387
Honestly, this is the best hitch I have ever bought. Hitching up is simple and its definitely a better buy then anything else in its class.

2005 Dodge Quad Cab Dully , Cedar Creek 36 ckts 16k very nice hitch , shipped relay fast 3 days to east coast, easy to install : had rails from old hitch,
it did come a LITTLE scratched up from shipping . one thing i wish it had more height / it does sit lower than old hitch buy 1 inch. haven't tried pulling yet / will up date latter . hope it pulls as good as it looks.
now no problem for bigger trailer, i hope! maybe a toy hauler? 282798
so far the hitch has performed wonderfully . used it to make a trip down to Florida last fall from Va. to pick up a new landmark, witch had a heaver hitch wt. the new hitch seem to make the trip worry free

Have not had the opportunity to use the new hitch to pull our RV, but did hook up to the RV to check height and ease of hookup, it's great, very happy with this hitch so far.
Ease of ordering was excellent, received it within 5 days in great condition. 539517
In the last year we have pulled a 16,000 lb Jayco 5th Wheel over 3,200 miles, up and down mountains and across flat lands with no problems. Still easy hookup and no troubles with it latching or in latching. We grease it and re-torque the bolts as per manufacturer recommendation, a little routine preventive maintenance goes a long way. Still very happy with the hitch, and would definitely recommend it, and have several times.

I bought this hitch because I am a firm believer in buy heavier than I need for safety. This hitch has been absolutely wonderful. The fifth wheel pull great with no jarring and the solid feel when attached is comforting. I can easily reach everything I need to set the hitch and lock it. The jaws are very easy to tell if I am completely hooked or not and the lock works great for a quick look to tell if ready. This hitch was very well priced (cheaper than lighter rated models) without being of "cheap" quality. I have enjoyed this hitch very much and thank goodness it breaks down into pieces for removal as it is a very heavy unit.589977
Easy to use. Hook up is smooth. The draw handle pulls easily when ready to disconnect. Just be sure to have the weight of the trailer off of the truck before trying to pull the handle. I have found that the handle does not always lock in the open position and occasionally needs to be held open as the truck is driven forward.940313

Working great. To update about the handle not always locking open: This was due to operator error, I was not properly engaging the latch catch.

Got my Curt Q24 finally. A very good, quality, heavy hitch. It was just a little scratched up, in same spots as all others seems to post - do to shipping by UPS. Etrailer did double box it to help, so all in all it wasn't bad. It is definitely a heavy hitch, but being able to quickly break it into pieces (head removes easily) makes it much more manageable to put in and out of the truck. Can't wait for the trailer to get in so I can try out this hitch...
Installed onto Curt rails in a 2006 F350, with no issue. Will be pulling a 18k 43' 5er soon!
Shipping was a bit on the slow side compared to other reviews - took 2 weeks to get it, but luckily my trailer is also delayed so I didn't need it immediately.314570
Ordered my Curt 24k 5th wheel hitch on Tuesday, received around 230 Friday, and was installed by 5pm same day ( already had the rails). I am anxious to hook up my Heartland Big Country 3650RL to my 2006 Chevrolet dually and roll down the highway.
The hitch is alI i expected it to be, and it is quite heavy, but managed to get it installed by myself after reading the great installation instructions. As in other posts, slight scratches during shipping due to packing materials used by Curt, not etrailer's fault. My RV has a tongue weight of 2350 lbs, 14000 overall, and 39'6" lenghth. Expectations are high that this hitch will handle it well! Thanks for the great service343176
Haven't towed with it yet,but looks like it will be more user friendly than my previous hitch.I had to adjust my rails a little to get it to fit.Shipping speed was excellent. While etrailer wrapped and stapled over the manufacturer box the contents when opened had several places where the paint was missing due to parts rubbing together during shipment. 259845
Received my hitch very quickly, two days with free shipping. However, the hitch did arrive with a couple scraps. The company needs to work on the packaging and shipping prep. That being said, I am very happy with the hitch and the company. I called them prior to buying it and they answered all my questions, very helpful. I'd definitely buy another product from them.336532
This is my 1st hitch and it works great. It took a bit to learn some of the tricks using it like locking the disconnect shaft in the open position before pulling out but afterwards, no problems. There is plenty of head movement and the hitch is super sturdy. Being able to split the unit into two pieces to remove it makes it much easier. After a year the paint is holding up great and nothing with the hitch has caused any problems. After my neighbor saw it and watched me hook up he ordered one as well.1285007

Just installed the new hitch and haven’t used it yet, only thing I wish I knew I needed the power accessories to install. I figured that maybe would have came with it. But great product overall.908767
We took it to a shop to have it installed. It looks great, and the features to make sure our 5th wheel is securely locked in place give us peace of mind. And it's nice that the rails are made just for our 2016 Ram 3500 long bed. It really is well made and is a brute. Can't wait to get out on the road.269543
The Hitch was very good quality very easy to install in the 2018 Dodge Ram Total installation by myself was under an hour I plan on using it to move travel trailers fifth wheels around for people 573042
Great product. I used it on both a Ram 3500, and now a 17 F250 crew cab with a regular bed.
Pros: Seem well built, heavy duty. Less chucking than my last hitch for an all around smoother ride. I've pulled both a 27ft and 45 ft fifth wheel travel trailer with it.
Cons: Does not work with the sidewinder travel trailer adapter. You have to purchase the A-series CURT hitch to use that product. My Ram 3500 had an 8ft bed so I didn't pay attention to that at the time. Now that I have a regular bed, I thought I could just buy the sidewinder to get better clearance, but that did not work out.
Note: the sidewinder wedge adapter for the A-series does not work with this hitch.607025

My Q24 fifth wheel hitch is everything I hoped it would be. I was able to install the whole unit with installation kit myself with the help of the youtube videos available. One thing was missing from the videos however. My 09 Chevy dually has a 35 gal gas tank. It was neccessary to lower the tank to gain access to the drivers side front frame rail bolts for the installation kit. It was an extra step not mentioned in the video but not insurmountable. I was able to complete the installation & have used the hitch multiple times this summer towing my 28' camper with a boat or atv trailer behind. Everything I needed for the install was included in the kit & fit perfectly. The step by step instructions & the youtube video walked me through the whole thing. Aside from the extra step of lowering the tank the project went smoothly with basic tools I had on hand.1145428

This hitch is very easy to take in and out of the bed of the truck. Comes apart in 2 pieces very easily, making it fairly light weight to move. Like the yellow, green and red indicators for easy hitching and unhitching. The big issue I have is that there is not much side to side movement in the head itself, making it hard to hitch back up if the the truck or camper is not sitting fairly evenly. Was told this hitch had good side to side movement, but do not think that is true. The only side to side movement comes from the give in the bushings. 654501

We had a short bed Ram 2500 and upgraded to a Ram 3500 Dually. We had a Demco Auto slide hitch in the old truck that worked well but I wanted to get back to basics without all the moving parts and noise. This hitch performed beyond my expectations. I couldn't be more happy! And as usual the Etrailer experiance was exceptional! 3 day delivery right to the place I was having it installed and in excellent condition. If only the rest of my life could move so smoothly!!!!!291631

Very strong hitch. I like that it easily can be taken apart, makes it not so heavy to install. Glad it has grease fittings, should last longer. Positive indication of locking to kingpin. Came within 2 days of placing the order. Dual jaws give a sense of security.

Arrived timely in a very well protected carton. Handled shipping better than any other 150 lb item I received in a cardboard box. There are a few small scratches but nothing that some minor touch-up (semi-gloss?) won't take care of. Was able to put it together alone and install in the mounting rails in about 30 minutes. Heavier than my old 15k hitch but not so heavy I can't position it alone. May enlist help when it's time to put it away in the fall.243294

I received this box four days later than the hitch mount box, but that was due to the shipping company, not E-trailer! I assembled and installed the hitch, yet removed in preparation for the spray-in bed liner. It's easy to assemble and seperate into two more manageable pieces. Can't wait to start hauling the RV! 286126

The Curt Q24 5th wheel trailer hitch # C16245 fits in industry standard above the bed rails. Industry standard rails have mounting slots that measure 22 inches on center front to back (it is actually closer to 21-13/16 inches).
Side to side there are 3 sets of mounting slots per rail. The outside set is spaced 29 inches apart on center, the middle set, which is where the hitch will mount, is spaced 20-1/2 inches apart on center. And the inner set is spaced 10 inches apart on center. I... view full answer...
Sounds like you have a Curt Q Series hitch like the part # C16245. I went down to our showroom where we have one on display and from messing around with it and from previous experiences with the hitch if you are seeing the red color on the handle display that means the jaws are not locked in place. That would mean the hitch is not secured to a king pin.
You should hear the jaws snap into place as a king pin (or something else like a wrench) pushes on the back of the jaws to cause them... view full answer...

I reached out to my contact at Curt and walked him through your issue and process to disconnect. He said the issue sounds like you are taking too much weight off of the hitch. The hitch needs a certain amount of weight on it to function correctly and release the lower portion of the king pin. There are a few things to look that could cause chucking when towing a fifth wheel trailer. The Curt Q24 is one of the best hitches on the market to reduce chucking when towing a fifth wheel trailer.
The first thing I would check is to make sure everything in your towing set up does not exceed any capacities. The weight of your trailer does fall within the capacity of this hitch, but based on my research of your 2010 GMC 3500 Dually 6.6L turbo diesel, the weight of your trailer is close... view full answer...

I am sorry to hear about your problem with your Curt Q24 5th wheel hitch # C16245.
With a trailer as large and heavy as a 42-foot Montana it will be critical to have the trailer and truck on level ground and in a straight line with each other for all coupling and uncoupling processes. Any tension between the king pin and the hitch's jaw will make it difficult for the jaw mechanism to open to release the king pin.
