Installed on a 09 3500 express shuttle bus.
Used
to pull 24ft camper and mount bike rack.
Did have to drill frame holes but it was worth it.

Still no issues, completely happy with the hitch. Had a 4000mile road trip this summer with a cargo carrier, exhaust damaged some of the cargo so will be rerouting the exhaust soon.

@Duceolsen That is great to hear, besides the exhaust hiccup. I am glad it has been working well especially on that road trip! I just got back from a 6000 mile one myself, had a few hiccups as well but always love when your parts work great! Where all did you travel to this summer?

This hitch had the highest towing capacity rating of all 2-inch receiver hitches I compared. It mounts with two 9/16-inch bolts, which are used in the rear most holes, and four 1/2-inch bolts. However, all of the frame holes, as well as the hitch holes would accommodate 9/16-inch bolts. The four holes toward the rear of the hitch lined up perfectly, the forward two holes didn't exactly match the frame and required slotting to the rear. Overall, I would recommend this hitch.

Great product. I just finished installing my class 5 trailer hitch on my 2003 chevy Express 2500 Passenger Van. No drilling required. Took me only 20 min to install. My advice to anyone looking to looking great customer service and the right product at the right time. Get hooked up by etrailer.com. Thanks Robert S....

GREAT!!!! No problems

by:
2003 Ram 3500

This was installed on a 2003 Chevy Express 3500. The coating on the hitch is very durable and did not scratch when I hit it will some tools during installation. I had to drill the rear two holes out larger to fit the larger bolts but it was not difficult and overall the installation was very easy. Well made product and I expect it will perform as advertised.

by:
Dodge Ram Pickup

This hitch is very heavy duty and very easy to install. I bought it for my Express 3500 just to pull a pop-up camper with the potential to one day get a larger camper. However, it also came in handy when I needed to pull a Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel in my 24' cargo trailer 700+ miles. I never once had any problems with it. If you want to get a hitch that far exceeds towing capacity for this vehicle, one you never have to worry about, truly this is the one. With all the necessary tools ready (drill, bit, wrench, socket, torque wrench), I had it on in about 30 minutes; easy install.

by:
2017 Ram 2500

Installed on a 2017 Chevy Express 2500 Cargo Van. Significantly heavier than the OEM hitch receiver which we replaced due to the tongue weight of our travel trailer. We had 2 small issues with the installation. Needed to increase the hole in the van's frame for the 9/16 bolt. Also had to use the Dremel to grind off a bit of metal on one side of the single bolt hole at the end of each arm on the hitch, it didn't quite line up with the hole in the frame. Other than that, the installation went smoothly.

by:

Got the shipment on time solid construction but maybe a little confusing on the instruction on how to mount. On my 2009 Chevy van 3500 extended cub I had to widen the hole on the chassis just e bit to make room for the large bold using a 5/8 drill bit for the chassis had the some holes as where the other bolts go in place. None the the less I transported what I needed and no problem not so ever.

by:

Solid and very well made

by:
2017 GMC Savana Van

This receiver is stout. Great piece for the money. Fit my 2017 Savanna well. In addition to drilling the two outward holes larger to fit the 9/16 bolts, I did have to open up one of the other frame holes a touch but that is more a GM frame manufacturings variance than anything. Can’t beat this receiver for the money.

by:

This also fit my 2009 Savanna 3/4 ton used Penske box van. It is not listed but it is the right measurement.

by:

Just what I ordered. Fast and easy!

by:
2017 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Very easy installation. Looks extremely strong. Shipping was fast and free. I should note that I did have to drill the holes for the 9/16" bolts a little bigger. The bolts wouldn't fit through the holes in the frameof the vehicle. This was on a 2017 Express 2500.

by:
2022 Chevrolet Express Van

Sturdy and stout. Great installation instructions. Straight-forward installation. Only negative is that the holes didn’t line up fully with the 2022 Chevy express. After some extra time cajoling, finally got it installed.

by:

So far it works for my application

by:

All the installations was like you show on the video , so thanks again!!!

by:

Sal was great, got the order out same day FAST. Arrived right on time. The items were exactly what I needed to get my Van together for towing complete with hitch and wiring harness.

2016 Chevrolet Express Van

Etrailer has been amazing regarding customer service. The Curt part on the other hand is less than par. The design is excellent. Very well built hitch. Very stout. Construction os off however. You only need to drill two holes. To open up a 1/2” hole to 9/16” hole. Easy and quick. Problem....front most 3rd hole on both sides don’t line up with the existing van frame holes. Holes were off 1/4”. Having to drill out 1/2” holes in that location is more of a challenge as the you are drilling stacked steel that don’t line up. Please advise Curt to adjust hole placement. After all, Curt part #13040 is a perfect fit.

Hitch was easy to install and is still working well.

by:

Easiest installation ever. Fit perfect on the 2020 GMC Savana Cargo Van.

by:

Great business to deal with. Never disappointed!!! Hitch will be a greatly needed addition to this recently acquired van

by:

I received my Curt class 5 hitch today, I opened the box and was pleasantly surprised to find it in one piece. The instructions said for pros install time 30 min. For DIY 40 mins. I must be some kind of super pro because after drilling two holes to 9/16 the total install time was under 15 minutes. The only way this could have gone easier is if they had sent someone in the box (with a beer) to install it for me. Tip in drilling out the frame to 9/16. Go to harbor freight tools and buy a cheap step up but, only a couple bucks, drill and toss.

Not an ounce of problems. If you are looking for the perfect heavy duty hitch, look no further.

by:

I watched the helpful video on line , it made the installation easy knowing what to expect. Took about 30 minutes to mount the hitch , it fit like a glove . Very enjoyable installation knowing the little tips instead of learning on my own. The hitch is solid and well constructed, my vehicle can’t tow what the hitch is rated for , but the tongue weight rating is what I was interested in. I have a hitch hauler which can hold up to 600lbs, this hitch just adds confidence to what I will use it for.A++++

2019 GMC Savana Van

I really like the hitch and all the helpful videos that etrailer has for the products they sell. The only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 was the paint on the hitch in a couple of spots was worn off in the box not a big dea. I will just do a little touch up painting. Wrapping with foamy packing sheets would of helped. Installation required drilling on my 2019 GMC Savana 2500, two holes larger and elongating 2 more. The drilling was not mentioned on the instructions from Curt. I wish companies would be more accurate with instructions so their customers do not waste time and frustration. Thank you etrailer I will buy from you again.

Drilling may be needed to install this hitch for one hole on each side of the frame to widen it for the 916 bolt used in that location.

by:

Went on really well, just had to clean up the frame holes on the van, one front bolt required minor prying to pull it down through the hitch (install the nut flange side down, use a jack & wood block under the hitch rail, pull it down with a pry bar, flip nut & torque on). Didn't need air tools, hitch is FAR stronger than this 1 ton van's frame could ever handle-it's a beast hitch, for sure! 2011 Chevrolet Express 3500.

  • Which Trailer Hitch Would Fit 2012 Chevy Express Shuttle Bus on Cutaway Chassis
Your 2012 Express Shuttle Bus would be built on the cutaway chassis version of the 2012 Express Van so that means the correct hitch you'd need is the Buyers Products part # 3371801102 which was made for this style of chassis. I attached a picture that has dimensions of this hitch for you to check out as well.

Hello Thorsten, thanks for reaching out. I do have an option for you, but unfortunately there are no custom fit hitches for the cutaway models of the 2002 Chevy express van. The only option is going to be a universal hitch like the Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Service Body Trailer Hitch Receiver # 41990-07. This Class V hitch has a 2" receiver and weld-on installation.
