  There is a solution for you, the Buyers Products 3" to 2" Receiver Tube Adapter # 337RTA302 which has a 5/8" hitch pin hole and would give you the security you need. Using the Curt Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeves - 3" to 2-1/2" or 2" # C45408 with its 3/4" hitch pin hole would not be ideal because the conflicting hitch pin diameters would mean your tow bar would be loose inside the receiver.   I do have some potential solutions for you, but we are not aware of any kind of adapter that would go from a 2" hitch to a 2-1/2" hitch. An adapter like that would cause a lot of folks to overload their 2" hitches. The 2" hitches are only rated for so much weight.
