Question:

We just purchased a new truck with 3 inch hitch. Our 12K trailer has a 2 inch sway control hitch we dont want to upgrade to 3 inch receiver. I dont want an adapter that goes from 3 to 2.5 to 2 as the one that came with the truck has a little rattle to it. I am afraid that might prematurely wear the pin holes and hitch if it has any slop. Do you have a best solution?...One that would limit slop.

Since you want to avoid an adapter that uses 2 sleeves to get you from your 3" receiver down to the 2" shank size of your weight distribution (WD) system you can potentially use the 12K Buyers Products # 337RTA302.

One thing to note is that this reducer has really not been tested with a WD system so you'll be sailing in uncharted territory. If you'd like an option is known to work with a WD system then you need to use the Curt Adapter # C45408 instead. Unfortunately there are no anti-rattle options that fit a 3" receiver so there isn't much that can be done there.
