Adapter to Use a Tow Bar with a 2 inch Shank in a 3 inch Hitch Receiver Opening

Question:

Thanks for your response. I am looking at the blue ox 10,000 one. I do have a question. What is the distance the tow bar sets the road behind the motor home. Just being sure to remain distance legal overall. 20'8" toad ( 2105 max cab ram) motor home is 39'4". So the distance this behind the rv becomes important.

I do have a way for you to use your Avail tow bar with a 3-inch hitch receiver, however, there are no replacement shanks that fit a 3-inch hitch receiver.

All you need to use a tow bar that fits a 2-inch hitch receiver in a 3-inch hitch receiver is use the Buyers Products Receiver Adapter # 337RTA302. This will reduce the receiver opening size on your trailer hitch from 3 inches to 2 inches so that you can use any tow bar with a 2-inch shank. It has a Gross Towing Weight (GTW) capacity of 12,000 lbs so you will have no issues with weight capacity.

If you do not already have a hitch pin and clip you can use part # 58388.

The Blue Ox Avail Tow Bar has arm lengths of (as measured when arm is pulled out straight in front of the hitch receiver): Extended: 52" from center of hitch pin hole to center of base pin hole Retracted: 42-1/4" from center of hitch pin hole to center of base pin hole
