Hidden Cross Tube for a Clean, Factory Look

The EcoHitch Hidden front-mount trailer hitch is designed to be as inconspicuous as possible. The hitch's cross tube bolts onto your vehicle's frame. No drilling or welding is required. Once the hitch is installed, only the receiver will be visible. This means that your vehicle can maintain its stylish, from-the-factory look, and you won't have to do any major modifications to its body or frame.

Eco-Friendly Material

With a combination of aerospace-grade aluminum, steel, and stainless steel, each EcoHitch is made of a strong metal alloy that will withstand the test of time. The lightweight alloy is composed of recycled materials. Traditional steel hitch manufacturing can use coal or oil, which can contribute to harmful gas emissions. The EcoHitch's recycled materials limit the carbon footprint during manufacturing, so you get a sturdy trailer hitch while also helping the environment.

Rigorous Strength Testing Ensures Durability

This EcoHitch trailer hitch is tested for durability and sturdiness. Using Finite Elemental Analysis (FEA), individual points of stress on the hitch can be detected and remedied. Designers can accurately test the hitch to ensure that it will meet or exceed SAE J684 standards. The EcoHitch Hidden trailer hitch is carefully researched and strength tested for a durable, high-quality hitch that can resist damage while on the road.

Installation was pretty straight forward. Had to cut some of the plastic behind the license plate for the license plate bracket to work. Used it to push a 7500lb travel trailer into a tight spot. Worked very well.

Still working great after a year. Have also used it for bikes while towing travel trailer on the rear. No issue with front sensor.

@Val Thanks for mentioning that it didn’t affect your front sensor Val, this will definitely help address that concern for others considering the install. What trip are you looking forward to most this year with your travel trailer?

by:

Just what I wanted. Been wanting to get this and install. Pretty straight forward for my boy and I. Took about 2 1/2 hours. Hardest part was the cutting of the plastic and marking everything but we got through it. Only thing wrong the license plat bracket was welded crooked, I don’t need it was going to run so it’s hidden. Could not ocd got me.

Hitch looks great on your truck. It looks like you have some aftermarket fog lights, too. I've seen some different ones in action, and I have been debating on getting some for my dad's truck. What ones do you have and how are you liking them?

Great. Nice and strong. Love it

by:

Fit was perfect and it performed as advertised on our trip through Alaska. Everything that was needed was included. I did take out the front trim covering behind the license plate but other than that it all worked out.
It allowed us to carry extra equipment and supplies while having our truck camper in the bed. We will continue to use it for these types of trips.

by:

A beautiful stealthy installation. I really like this receiver being up higher then those under bumper mounts. I can use it for moving my camper and boat around. I also slide in my winch when I need it. So far around 1 year of use and zero problems or rust.

Ford F-350 Super Duty

I needed something on the front of my F350 to carry my 600-pound motorcycle. So this, combined with a Gen Y drop hitch receiver and the Mototote, worked perfectly. 10k mules later, it is still performing as expected. The installation was easy and straightforward.

Great hitch!! Easy install, fit my 2022 super duty perfectly!! Only issue was the tag piece was welded crooked. See photos

I am glad to hear you got it installed easily, besides the crooked weld. I hope that didn't cause to many issues. What are you planning on using this front hitch for?

2017 Ford F-350 Super Duty

Thank goodness for YouTube, the written instructions can be difficult. Love the hitch, how it fits, hidden, and allows more clearance from the ground to the receiver.

by:

The front mount hitch looks and works great on my 2022 Ford F-250. Had it installed by one of your local dealers Tri-County Trailers Sales. They did an excellent job with friendly, professional service. This is the third hitch I have purchased through etrailer and all of them have been high quality and the two I installed were easy to install (I like your how to videos on your site, let’s you know what to expect with installation) I did have one question about the license plate holder I thought came with the hitch, there was not one in the box. I would certainly recommend this hitch for front mount use.

2017 Ford F-350 Super Duty

I've been looking for a 10,000-lb capacity front hitch for my 2017 F-350 for some time, as I have a 4-ton-plus travel trailer to maneuver in my yard. All the hitches (including this one) state they will not fit trucks with an auxiliary cooler, but I couldn't determine whether the cooler I saw behind my bumper was the offending one or not. By watching etrailer's installation video, I was able to determine that the hitch *would* fit, so I bought it. Installation was fairly straightforward, although the instructions and the vodeo both failed to mention the (optional?) foglight wiring and the (also optional?) engine-block heater wiring. Once I got past those two (admittedly minor) speedbumps, things went well. The fit between the frame rails was a little looser than I would have hoped, but I still managed to tighten the bolts sufficiently. I'm very pleased with the sturdiness of the product and look forward to using it many times in the future.

by:

Have been waiting to see this hitch first hand And was amazed by how well constructed it was.Easy to install. All the hardware and instructions in the box.Now I can use my winch for hunting season with tons of ground clearance and move the boat into tight spots myself. Thanks to etrailer.com for this great product.5Product Review for

I sold the truck this past april, but used the hitch almost every week. held up SUPERB

by:

Really works great. I had to get a drop hitch fabricated (orange piece in pictures) so my eBike rack would hold the bikes lower and I can see over the bikes instead of thru. I watched my temp gauge and do not observe any increase in heat (thus less airflow into grill). Its a little tight getting pin in/out as the space behind license plate is very small; but it works. I have not tried, yet, to try hitching my travel trailer (8000 pounds) up and pushing it into a campsite.

I'm 59 years old and a third generation grading contractor. I've worked on trucks and heavy equipment my whole life. I've turned ALOT of wrenches. That being said, the instructions for installation of this hitch are the worst I've ever seen. Lots of steps left out of the bumper removal. The instructions for cutting the plastic where the hitch goes were not even close! Multiple attempts and additional trimming to make it fit. Also the hitch was an extremely tight fit between the rails. Once installed I like it and it seems to be good quality. The one star is for the almost useless instructions.

2021 Ford F-250 Super Duty

First of ALL etrailer was outstanding. They kept me in loop on back order. THANK YOU this is for a 2021 F250 4x4 crew cab
As far as the hitch...well the instructions need some serious updates for 2021 super duty. The hitch was 1/4" short to fit between frame rails, so i had to add shims to bring it in snug. the whole thing can be put on without removing the bumper. I removed the lower valance and both pass and driver bumper supports bolts at the frame and then loosened (not removed) the main 8 bolts to give me 3/4 inch wiggle room that allowed me to reach into frame to add the hitch mount bolts and torque them, this was wonderful and saved me some time. the plastic trim panels around the tow hooks are a bugger to get off, but patience will prevail if you gently slide a no scratching thin blade screwdriver in to release the two plastic locks then the other clips will snap right out
once i had all the plastic cut to allow room for the hitch, i raised it up to the frame and used 12" 3/8 socket extension bars to slide through frame as well as hitch bolt holes to hold it in place while i installed the lower and one side bolt on each side. made it a cinch to adjust and get centered and add shims.

by:

This hitch was well built and it fit perfectly. The instructions said to first remove the bumper which I did NOT do. I rolled it up into position with the help of a floor jack as I installed it by myself. I dropped the bolts thru the frame with the help of a wire wrapped once around the bolt. Then I held the bolts with an open end wrench that slid right into the frame between the bumper and the frame. The side bolts were tightened with a ratcheting box end wrench, a little slow due to restricted movement but I was able to tighten it all down to spec.!!

I'm glad that the hitch was able to get mounted even without taking the bumper off. Usually that's the most difficult part since there are so many tabs so being able to by-pass that is always nice! What are your plans to use the hitch for?

@GwendolynY I will use for a carrier including a 48” tool box. I’m driving to Alaska this summer and had to remove my tool box from the bed of the truck to make room for my generator which will sit directly in front of the 5th wheel hitch.

I installed this on my 2022 F350 King Ranch to mount a motorcycle carrier. It is a great fit and a well made hitch. Install only required minor modifications and NONE which were not highlighted in the install video on the website. The video is excellent. Thanks, hope this helps,

2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty

I installed the EcoHitch yesterday on my 2020 F250 diesel. The parts fit perfectly. If I had to critique something - a clearer picture or a video of the installation would be helpful. The enclose directions included pics that were hard to understand as it relates to cutting the plastic on the bumper. They seemed to be from another model year of truck... At any rate, the install was clean and took about 4 hours with two 15 minute assistance steps from my wife. 1st lifting the bumper off and then reinstalling. The hitch itself was placed with a floor jack.

EcoHitch Hidden Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2"
Item # 306-X7904.
I selected this hitch for it's ground clearance hidden aspect.
Install was fairly easy was able to install in a few hours.
Instructions were easy to follow. The insert potion in my application
was slightly different than that in the instruction for the cut out. My
truck did not have the front license plate mount incorporated into the insert. Called
tech support at Torklift Central we were able to come up with a solution to
get the proper cut out for the insert. Very happy with the fit and appearance
Of this front mounted receiver.

by:

Fits 2021 F350 Diesel but with extensive mods to the Plastic Insert. 5 stars for weight ratings and overall build quality. 3 stars for installation hassle bc the plastic insert that needs to be slotted in my case needed to be cut back significantly and bracketry added which took extra time. Wish it came with 2 extra fender washers and a heads-up that the insert might need extra mods and brackets (see below). Did not have to move any coolers or cooling lines. 4 stars overall.

Notes from the install.
1. Marked bumper brackets and supports to know exactly where it was installed by the factory. (Mine was off-center left/right by 1/4 inch so I centered it before cutting the slot in the plastic insert.)
2. Consider building some stands to help with the bumper removal/install and hitch install. Made a simple stand low enough to support the bumper and added blocks to install the hitch. (Also removed the front skirt before bumper removal.)
3. As other reviewers stated, had to shim one side of the hitch with 2 of the supplied fender washers as it was narrow by that amount. Had to purchase 2 additional fender washers.
4. Since other reviewers mentioned the slotting instructions needed improvement, more or less reviewed those and took them as recommendations. After hitch installation, test fit the bumper without the plastic insert. Then measured to the hitch. Then removed the bumper, installed the insert, and transferred the measurements to the plastic insert.
5. Found out during test fit after the slot was cut that the lower, back of the slotted insert had to be completely cut-off to fit. The insert needed to be flexed under the hitch so that the bumper to go back to the original position (see picture with notes). That flex would then warp the visible part of the plastic insert. Therefore, the section interfering was completely removed. Installed some brackets to support the lower section. The brackets proved to work well.

That the hitch is stout, up high, and hidden is a plus. Will have to build or purchase a hitch adapter to drop the hitch about 7 inches for one of my uses but don't mind doing that.

I recommend this hitch but keep in mind you might have the same installation challenges.

by:

Installation was pretty simple. Mount seems to be well made.
I did have to make shims to close the gap between the mount and the frame rails.

2018 Ford F-250 Super Duty

I installed this on my 2018 Ford F-250 after being so disappointed in the loss of ground clearance associated with the Curt trailer hitch. I found this instillation easier than the Curt because the bumper removal allows easy access to the attachment sites. The license plate holder was not included but a quick call resolved that omission.

by:
2019 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Bolted right up to my 2019 F-250. Looks like it's going to work perfect to haul my E-bike rack. I might have to use a dual receiver hitch to drop the rack down for better visibility while driving. That's to be determined. I'd highly recommend the Eco Hitch!!

I have bumper off truck and so far my only problem is my age and not being able to move around as I would like. I did not give the best “star” as u said I should get it on 7th. It was 8th.

  • Does EcoHitch Front Hitch 306-X7904 Require Moving The Transmission Cooler?
Hello Joel. Installing the EcoHitch Front Hitch # 306-X7904 does require relocating the transmission cooler. The hitch comes with brackets for relocating the cooler. You don't need to move it much though, so you'll just be moving it up a bit to allow the hitch to fit. This hitch will fit as long as your truck is not a dually model. The dually models have an aux cooler that obstructs the hitch. Those models should use part # EH83GR instead.
