How Long Does it Take to Install EcoHitch Front Hitch # 306-X7904

Updated 09/08/2026 | Published 08/28/2026

Question:

What is your or the manufacturers stipulated or estimated total time hours? to install the front hitch EcoHitch 306-X7904 on a 2020 Ford F250 Diesel Lariat? I am comparing installation labor charges at local shops. I have watched all 3 of your installation videos. Of course the videos are edited, but they run about 17-21 minutes. So whats the actual total time to install?

Hey Gary, average install time for the EcoHitch part # 306-X7904 is about 2 hours. Here's the reported time it has taken our customers though to give you an idea:

~1 hour with two people
~90 minutes with two people
~2.5 hours for another two-person installation
~4 hours for a DIY installation where the installer only had occasional assistance removing/reinstalling the bumper.

A qualified shop should have no problem doing it in one hour but they might have a 2 hour minimum charge or something similar.

Gary, The answers on this string are spot on. Ultimately it took me only 2-2 1/2 hrs. It was very straightforward but easy. I only needed help from my son to steady and align the bumper, but I could have done it myself with my floor jack. Lastly, this is the second one I’ve purchased from trailer, and absolutely love their products. I just ordered a camper tie down system for my 2017 F250 and did it all myself. Took longer for the torks system but went right in. Good Luck and I hope that helps Daron.

Took about 2 hours , pretty straight forward! Follow directions and I did it by myself! Not a mechanic either!!!

For me the installation took a bit longer since I had to remove (and re-mount) the Ranch Hand grill guard that I have on my truck. But the actual installation of the front hitch was about 2 hours, I used a floor jack and straps to hold it in place. A heavy duty impact driver definitely made it easy but sockets worked as well. If you don't have the time or ability to DIY it's not a hard install for a shop or mobile mechanic to do. I was very happy with the results and it came in handy last summer traveling to Alaska and back in our truck camper. Being able to carry additional supplies, etc. on the front was a bonus and really made things simple once I added a heavy duty basket to the whole set-up. I highly recommend this hitch, and with the license plate holder it comes with when not in use you really can't see it.

My father in law helped me and he has a lift, which made it a lot easier. I would say it was closer to the 2 to 2.5 hour timeframe. We are both mechanically inclined, but not expert mechanics. Having all the right tools and impact drivers helps a lot.
