Yes, installation goes smoother with a light lubricant. Rubber can be hard to slide in tracks, so spray a small amount of seal lubricant or silicone in the track—too much makes it hard to grip. On long runs, push from one side and pull from the other. Check track orientation so covers or screw strips slide into place; if not, protect exposed screw heads with caulk.
They can help, but leaks can also come from other seams. If a new bulb or wiper is in place and you still see water, have the roof and body seams checked and resealed as needed. Confirm the seal is installed in the correct orientation and that you ordered enough length for slight overhang to block daylight.
Match the seal type and size to your current slide-out. Pull back a few inches of the old seal to see the side profile and mounting style like Glue On, Peel-N-Stick, Press-In, Push-On, or Slide-On. Measure the total length you need. If your seal mounts to a flange, verify the flange thickness and the overall height to match what you have.
Choose the style that matches your existing mount. Clip-on provides a tight, durable grip on a pinch-weld and can feel more heavy duty, but takes more effort to press on. Stick-on is quicker to apply but depends on surface prep. If access is tight, plan extra patience and tools to help press or pry the seal into place.
Verify the wiper is oriented correctly and seated along the top of the slide. Give it some time after installation and cycle the slide to help the wiper lay flat. If the wipe edge isn't contacting, recheck the mount style and track fit; adjust or reinstall so the thin wiping edge faces the slide surface.
