What Is The Difference Between Standard And Composite Bearing Block Kits?

Updated 09/02/2025 | Published 06/23/2025

Question:

I have a question on bearing block kits for Schwintek slide. What is the difference between standard and composite bearing block kits? One of the shoes sheared off an upper bearing block so I need to replace that bearing block. I have a 2018 Grand Design Imagine 2800BH. Just trying to verify all the correct items I need to replace that upper bearing block. Thank you!

Hello Andrew, good question. Basically the only difference between the composite kits and the standard (non-composite) kits is the application they are used for. Composite are used in motorhomes, the other are used on towable campers. It has to do with movement of the RV when traveling. The non-composite can be made of aluminum or a combination of materials.

Composite bearing blocks must be replaced with composite blocks, and non-composite must be replaced with non-composite. You can't switch between the two.

Since you have a travel trailer, you will want to use the standard block # LC379060.

Hey Andrew, did the standard bearing block kit work for your travel trailer? I'm asking because your experience could help others with similar setups.
