Turndown Exhaust Tips for heat protection

Redirecting exhaust downward helps keep a hitch cargo carrier and nearby gear from excess heat. Choose a turndown tip that matches your tailpipe's outside diameter; same-size weld-on styles are common and should be installed by a professional, while clamp-on options slide over the pipe for easier adjustment. If welding, matching sizes gives a cleaner fit than forcing a smaller tip onto a larger pipe.
A smaller weld-on Turndown tip can be made to fit, but matching sizes gives a cleaner connection. You can tack it in place, weld around it, then clean up the welds if needed. Work in a very ventilated area and avoid sparks near the gas tank. If appearance matters, matching sizes is the better route.
