My mother bought me this for Christmas. It was a good price, easy to assemble and put on the car. It is sturdy and fits two bikes nicely. Also easy to take off the car and put back on. I recommend this if you're looking for a good bike rack for a Jeep Patriot.

Swagman XTC2 Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount
The Swagman XTC-2 platform bike carrier arrived very quickly from etrailer and in good shape, the actual carrier box is inside another shipper box, which I'm sure helped with its condition. Assembly was relatively quick and painless, even though the instructions could be a little more thorough. Installing the carrier on the back of our Jeep Patriot also was quick, it helps to have an extra ratchet & 3/4" socket laying around for just this purpose. Installing the bikes takes a little patience and trial and error the first time you try and put them on the carrier. It's easy enough to adjust the wheel holders to fit the wheelbase of your bikes, but for us at least, the challenge was trying to swing the vertical support bar up into position after putting on the first bike (closest to the Jeep). We couldn't angle the bike enough toward the Jeep to have the bar clear the bike. We learned that the easiest way to secure the first bike was to remove the ratcheting frame hooks altogether, put the bike in the carrier, swing up the vertical support bar, put in the pin, and then slide one of the frame hooks down on the bar. The outside bike is much easier because you can set the bike in the carrier at whatever angle you need, not being limited by the back of the vehicle. One thing we did to protect the bike frames was to use some foam pipe insulation as cushion between the frame hook and the frame (see pictures). Once you get a system for installing the bikes, it is very quick to load/unload them. The rack seems to be well made and doesn't wiggle excessively when traveling. All in all a good product for a good price, would definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a platform bike carrier.

Thule Hitching Post Pro Bike Rack for 4 Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches
The good: I like the way the bikes are held in and the ability to add the upright adapters to the bike frame holders. The straps are quality too. For a jeep with a spare tire, this is the perfect length to clear it. This rack is 5 stars from the bike holders to the base of it. The bad: the 2"receiver adapter and bolt are insufficient. I wish they made this in a solid 2" hitch. The entire setup is held into the receiver by a very short bolt. It only goes about half way into the receiver tube. So your hitch is only "secured" on one side. A hitch pin or bolt should go through the receiver tube completely imo so it can be secured on the other end with a retaining clip or nut. Because this only goes in the one side, the entire weight of the rack plus bikes are held tight to one side of the receiver by the undersized bolt and washer. A few bumps down the road and that bolt loosens. Now instead of distibuting the weight of the rack and bikes on the receiver and post, it's completely up to the bolt to keep you from losing the rack. The bolt threads get damaged too. I took this down a dirt road and nearly lost everything. I had to buy my own bolt with hd fender washers and lock washers to correct this. Thule should've provided this from the start. The current short bolt design where only one side of the receiver secures the rack is unacceptable. This rack is 1 star at best for the connection to the receiver.
I bought this bike rack back in April but wanted to make sure I used it to give the best review. First I want to say I did a lot of research on bike racks and found this one to be the best one to fit my needs. The best price I found was on etrailer.com, at the time it was When I called the customer service to place my order, I spoke to Dan. He was very pleasant on the phone and took the time and listened to what I needed and understood my concerns. I ordered the bike rack and also ordered the Thule Snug Tite Hitch Lock and Anti-Rattle Device and the Thule Cable Lock w/ One Key System Lock. Dan suggested I also get the Thule Bike Adapter Bar, which I never even thought of getting. Delivery was in about two business days, which was really fast and at the time of order they were running a special free delivery over $99. When I went to put it together I noticed I was missing the flat cap screw M6 x 16mm, part number #853-5787-02. I emailed Dan and within 24 hours received an email that the part was sent out and also in the email their was a link to track the order. After I received the part I did notice that the flat cap screw was actually in the 2 inch adaptor sleeve. The instructions were very easy to read, and it took me about 20 minutes to put together. I did have an issue when I positioned the stinger into the cradle, with the 8mm locking nut, it was not staying tight and when I took it off I noticed the threads inside were gone, so I ended up going out to Lowes and buying a new one and its holds perfectly fine. I also had a question about that part because it is not a locking part and was worried someone would try to steal the rack. I contacted etrailer.com to find if they make a locking device for this and they said no but I can contact Thule to double check, I'm still waiting for an answer back from Thule. The weather finally broke and we installed the rack onto my hitch, tightened it and it doesn't rattle. When I finally used the rack and put my bike on, it did sway a little but at 50 mph I was very happy with it. The trailer comes out just enough away from my car that I do not have to fold completely out and I can open my trunk with no issues. I am very happy with my purchase and had a great customer experience with Dan. Would highly recommend ordering from them to anyone.

Swagman XTC4 Bike Rack for 4 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount

If you've done any research or read any of the other comments on either this rack, or this seller...rest assured they really are as good as everyone says! I ordered my rack on around 4pm est on a Friday afternoon and within an hour I received an email that said they have shipped my product AND upgraded to priority shipping. Can't say enough positive things about the customer service! When the rack arrived, it took me a little over half an hour to get it set up. Probably would e been faster if I were even slightly mechanically inclined (or if didn't I didn't have to borrow a socket wrench from my neighbor). We finally had an opportunity to load up the bikes and head out for a ride today. As others have said, the first time you load up your bikes, it's kind of like a puzzle to get them situated. Took about 15 minutes. This rack is awesome! Very sturdy and the bikes were very secure. Only racks I have had in the past were rooftop fork mount racks. This is so much easier! On e we got to the trail (over an hour drive) getting the bikes off was a piece of cake. Afterwards, it was time to load them back up and it was less than 5 minutes to get them all on and ready to hit the road. There were other 4-bike racks on the website, but this one had enough great reviews that I felt comfortable making the purchase. After the fact, I'm very glad I did! I can't imagine the $800 rack can be that much better than this, and I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a 4-bike platform rack. I will definitely recommend this rack and etrailer.com to everyone I know.

Swagman Trailhead Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Tilting
etrailer has the best pre- and post-sales customer service I've ever seen! I started out not knowing anything about hitch-mounted racks. So I wrote to etrailer telling them about my car and type of hitch I was about to have installed. Samuel wrote back with lots of great information tailored specifically to my car. He even included a photo that looked just like my 2017 white VW GTI with a hitch and rack installed. Okay something of a coincidence. But the rest of the assistance I got from the crew at etrailer was just as prophetic. I went into this a novice and came out knowing lots more about hitches and racks and finding the rack best suited to my situation. I have a small car, a class 1 hitch and a heavy mountain bike. I got exactly what I needed. As to the Swagman rack itself, it works fine. If I had a different situation I would probably buy a platform rack as they are easier to load. There's no reason to buy a bike rack anywhere else.
First off, thanks to Jason T. or "Troop". The exemplary customer service he provided is rare these days. Troop made several calls to the various manufacturers to ascertain which bike rack would afford me the most ground clearance as my new VW Golf sits low to the ground and my old bike rack frequently scraped the ground when I went up even a slight up hill grade. His efforts paid off as he found me the best bike rack for my car, the Swagman Trailhead 2 Bike Carrier. It sits up off the ground just high enough that it doesn't scrape on my driveway. It is also sturdy and holds my bikes securely. And, the delivery was amazingly fast. I had my rack in about 2 days! Hauling carrier and was assemble on May 20th. Assembly went fairly well according to the instructions. As yet have not hauled my ebike but will do so on May 30th.Unit is fairly heavy to handle but I am sure necessary to handle two heavy bikes.

Yakima HangOut 2 Bike Rack - Trunk Mount - Adjustable Arms
Good directions easy to put on my Jeep Patriot. I had a little trouble tightening the straps but they seemed to adjust themselves as I drove.
Works great for my 2019 Jeep Renegade. I adjusted it to be open a little more, so I could use my rear wiper. It also keep pressure off the rear spoiler.

Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack for 4 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount
This bike rack is fantastic! Well worth every penny. The directions aren't completely user-friendly but once put together it's a good solid well-thought-out product. Hauled my bikes ( one 2 wheel bike and one adult trike with my Jeep Patriot. Using a 2-inch hitch) for the first time this weekend and couldn't be happier with the solid hold. Because I don't own a truck, there's no way for me to haul the trike back and forth from the bike shop when it needs tune ups. This definitely solves that problem. It was easy for me to live the 90 lb rack and I plan on buying some hooks to hang it in the garage when not in use.
This bicycle rack seems very well built. It was easier to assemble compared to a different one we had, and sits very securely in the hitch when tightened down. We love that all the locking mechanisms are keyed the same.

Yakima HoldUp Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount
Works well for transporting two 29" wheeled mountain bikes. However, after one year it's starting to rust in several areas (see attached photos), and the front wheel arms are becoming increasingly difficult to raise and lower. Finally the locking cable is extremely rusty as you can see in the attached photo. I'm not sure how durable this rack will be long term.
We have had this bike rack for one year and use it every week-end. My wife has a Trek e-bike (52 lbs) and I have a regular Trek hybrid (23 lbs). The rack is very sturdy and I have no issues driving at highway speeds, there is no movement of the bikes. Very easy to load and unload.

Hollywood Racks Express 3 Bike Carrier - Fixed Arms - Trunk Mount
Installation was straightforward. The rack sits high up on my 2016 Subaru Forester so lifting bikes onto the rack requires effort. Getting 3 mountain bikes on the rack was a bit tricky. When loaded rack was secure and stable.
Seems like a sturdy, reliable product so far. Components are solid and well put together. Fits great and carries well on my 2014 Corolla. Excellent value considering the price tag on other racks out there. And the prompt delivery was great!

Rhino-Rack Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Tilting
I purchased this bike rack a year ago and I use it A LOT. I had to buy and install a stabilizer because without it, the unit would sway back and forth even without a bike on it (very noisy). This makes removal more cumbersome but since I keep the hitch on year round it doesn't matter to me. The tilting function is fabulous allowing easy use of my RAV4 hatchback. I can even tilt it down with a bike on it. I got the 2 bike hitch. Plenty of room for two bikes to fit without rubbing. Lastly, the hitch has a sizable through-hole on the bottom to thread a good sized cable so I can lock my bike up. Sturdy. I highly recommend.
The unit ‘s simplicity is a real plus. It takes less than 3 minutes to put the rack on the vehicle. It is well built and very durable and has a nice feature that allows you to open the rear hatch for SUV owners without removing the rack.

Today on our 2015 Jeep Patriot we're test fitting the Yakima FullTilt. This is a folding and tilting 4-Bike rack. It's been designed so you can use it with inch and a quarter or two inch hitches, part number on it is Y02462. The FullTilt is going to have three cradles that are going to hold each bike in place, going to have two here for the top frame two, then also an anti-sway cradle here on the back. It does a really good job of keeping everything held in place. To release them, they use what are called zip strips. I like the zip strips.

The part number on it is TH912XTR. The Roadway does a great job of holding our bikes in place. We're using 2 top straps and a strap here on the rear tube.

Basically we're just going to have one frame hook holding our bike in position.

We've got dual cradle arms that are going to hold 2 cradles.
RockyMounts Roof Bike Racks Review - 2015 Jeep Patriot
Today on our 2015 Jeep Patriot we're doing a test fit of the Rocky Mounts brass Knuckles roof mounted bike rack. The part number for that is RKY1202. So the first thing we are going to go over is how we have our bike strapped down. Back here in the back we just have a regular wheel strap here. To release that we are going to just push down and lift up. You want to make sure its between your spokes whenever you load up your bike. If we come up to the front we have a strap again here. We've also got a wheel cradle back here that's going to hold that in place and we have our wheel hook.

Inno Roof Bike Racks Review - 2015 Jeep Patriot
Today on our 2015 Jeep Patriot, we're doing a test fit of the Inno Fork lock roof mounted bike rack, part number INXA391. Now, the first thing we're going to do is show you how we strap our bike down. Back here in the back we've got a standard wheel strap, that's just going to secure that back wheel to the bike rack. The nice thing about this is that it does have, back here we've got a channel for the smaller tires like we have here but you can also fit tires on there as well. To release that we just pull down and lift up on the strap and whenever we load it up we want to make sure the strap is between the spokes. Then we can come up to the front, we've got a locking cover to prevent theft. Take that off and we've got a skewer here we just pull on the black handle, and we can loosen and tighten with the black knob on this side to secure our fork mounts in place. So just take our bike off and set it off to the side; it's always a good habit to reconnect your straps so you don't lose any.
Inno Roof Bike Racks Review - 2015 Jeep Patriot INA392
Today on our 2015 Jeep Patriot, we're doing a test fit of the Inno Multi Fork Bike Rack. It's a roof meta bike rack and part number for that is INA392. The first thing we're going to go over is how it is strapped down. In the back here, we've got an adjustable wheel cradle that can move up and down the bike rack to accommodate different types of bikes and we've got a regular wheel strap here. We just push the button and lift to release. You want to make sure that strap goes between your spokes so you don't damage them. Up in the front, it's got a locking cover to protect your bike.

This is a tire hold. We've got two wheel frame hooks here. This one is just a regular hook. It just goes around and straps down that front tire.

Today on our 2015 Jeep Patriot, we're doing a test fit of the Inno Slim Fork Roof Mounted Bike Rack, part number INA387. Now, we do already have our bike on the rack. We're first going to show you how we strap that down. Back here in the back, we're got a wheel clamp holding that in. Basically what it does is sandwich that wheel into place so it won't move anywhere. Now the nice thing about this is that it is adjustable so it is all the way out to the side of the cradle here so you can fit different types of bike tires in there. We come up to the front, we've got a locking cover here that's protecting our skewer that's going across.
Swagman Fork Down Roof Bike Racks Review - 2015 Jeep Patriot
Today on our 2015 Jeep Patriot, were going to be doing a test fit on the Swagman Fork Down. This is a roof mounted fork clamp style bike rack, part number of it is S64710. To begin the test fit, we're going to place the rack right up onto the roof rack of our vehicle. We've already installed the Rhino Rack Vortex Aero Roof Rack system, so we're just going to center the head of the carrier here on our front load bar. We'll bring the metal U bolt around the underside, fit it up through the head and then we'll secure it in place with the two wing nuts. We'll take our second U bolt, we're going to do the same thing, bring it around the underside, fit it up through and thread our wing nuts on. As you can see, I'm just threading these on loosely for now. I don't want to get them too tight in case I need to adjust the rack or something.
Kuat TRIO Roof Bike Racks Review - 2015 Jeep Patriot
Today on our 2015 Jeep Patriot, were going to do a test fit on the Kuat Trio. This is a roof mounted fork clamp style bike rack. The black and chrome that I have here the part number is TR02. We also have it a nice gun metal gray and orange finish is part number RU01. Weve already got our Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Roof Rack System installed in the Patriot. Well just begin our test fit by placing the Trio right up onto the roof rack.
Thule Sprint Roof Bike Racks Review - 2015 Jeep Patriot
Today on our Jeep Patriot 2015, we're going to do a test fit on the Thule Sprint. This is the roof mounted fork clamp style bike rack. Part number on it is TH528. Now, we've already got our Thule Rapids Crossroads roof rack system installed in the Patriot. To begin our test fit, we'll simply just place our roof rack, our bike rack rather up on the roof rack. As you can see, we'll position front pad or front foot directly over the top of our front bar and we will slide our rear one back or forward just depending on where it's positioned when you get it, to be resting squarely on top of our rear bar and then bring your black rubber coated metal strap around, fit it into the small indention on the front there.
Thule Roof Bike Racks Review - 2015 Jeep Patriot
Today on our 2015 Jeep Patriot, were going to be doing a test fit of the Thule Paceline. This is a roof mounted skewer style or fork clamp style bike rack. Part number on it is TH527. Weve already got our Thule Rapid Crossroads Roof Rack System installed in the vehicle, so well begin our test fit by just placing the rack up here onto the crossbars. Well lift the gray and black lever on the front. Well also lift the small black lever here on the rear.

Today on our 2015 Jeep Patriot, were going to be doing a test fit on the Swagman Upright. This is a roof mounted frame clamp style bike rack. Part number on it is S64720. To begin our test fit, well place the bike rack right up on to our roof rack system. Now today weve got the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero System that weve installed in the vehicle. Were going to take just a quick look to make sure weve got it centered and running that weve got the base running across the center of our crossbar.

Today on our 2015 Jeep Patriot we're going to do a test fit on the Rocky Mounts Tierod. This is a roof mounted fork clamp style bike rack. Part number on is RKY1014. We've already got our Rhino Rack Vortex Aero roof rack system installed on the Patriot. To begin our test fit we're just going to place the roof rack up onto the cross bars. We're going to remove the black plastic cover. This will give us the room we need to remove the two rubber coated metal straps from their small slots on the front.
