Video Transcript for All About the Quick Splices

Today we're going to take a look at the closed port quick splice self stripping connector in the yellow color. This is for a quantity of one. Now this closed port quick splice self stripping connector is designed to splice into an existing wire without having to cut, crimp, or strip. Provides an open channel on the front to attach to your existing wire and a closed channel in the back for the tap wire to go into. You can see it has this metal blade on it that's attached, to pierce the wires in each of the channels of the connector to make your connection. And their appliers needed to squeeze down on that blade after your wires are placed in there. I am going to demonstrate this, how it connects, at the end of this video.

This is for a quantity of one connector. The gauge wire this will fit is 10 to 12 gauge wire size. Maximum power rating, 600 volts. And again we're going to demonstrate, so I happen to have, let's say this is our existing wiring. So what you'll do is just push this into the front for the existing wiring, and then you want to tap this wire into that existing wiring. You'll just put that in the back one and it's a closed port, because if you noticed it won't let the wire go through in the back.

You just push it in all the way and it'll keep it right there. And then what you'll want to do once you have your two wires in there, just take your pliers, put it onto that blade, push that blade all the way down. There you go.And then once you pushed it all the way down, that'll connect your two wires. And then you'll have this cover portion that you just flip down and it snaps into place to cover it, protect it. And there you've tapped a wire into your existing wires.

Simple as that. But that should do it for the review on the closed port quick splice, self stripping connector in yellow for a quantity of one.

  • How to Wire Reverse Lights on a Trailer with a 4-Way Trailer Connector
We do have a solution for you, however, you will not be able to power reverse lights on a trailer with a 4-pin trailer connector. The reverse lights on a trailer must receive power from the reverse lights on the tow vehicle. To do this, you will want to install a 5-pin connector on the trailer and on the tow vehicle. There are many options, but I recommend installing the Hopkins Endurance 5-way Flat Wiring Kit, # HM47890, for a uniform look. You can simply cut off the 4 pin connectors...

  • How To Install a Trailer Wiring Harness to a 2011 Toyota RAV4
You will not want to connect your trailer wiring directly to the wiring harness of your 2011 Toyota RAV4. You will need to isolate the trailer wiring from the vehicles sensitive circuitry, so it does not put a strain on the system and cause your vehicles wiring harness to be overloaded and fail. I would recommend to use the Tow Ready T-One Wiring Harness, part # 118412. This wiring harness will plug into connectors located behind the vehicles tail lights and comes with a powered Modulite...

  • Switching From A Curt Bluetooth Controller To A Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty In A 2024 Subaru Crosstrek
Hi Elizabeth! I'll be honest, I don't particularly like the Curt Bluetooth controllers either. The Redarc controllers on the other hand, I very much like and the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller w/ Universal Wiring Harness # RED52VR is a fantastic one to go with. As to connecting it, that will depend on how the 7-way was wired into your 2024 Subaru Crosstrek. Odds are you will need the parts I have listed below as only the wire from the battery to the 7-way was connected. If you...

Hey Jared, thanks for reaching out. Typically those scotchlok connectors are one-time use so if the wires came out I would have to recommend replacing the connector. • How to Install a Brake Controller on a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500
The brake output wire (usually blue) should already be partly ran on your 2007 Dodge Ram 1500. There is a connector (see photo) that is located on the driver side of the vehicle right behind the front wheel well. This connector should have a blue wire for the brake output which you can confirm with a circuit tester. You can then use a quick splice connector like part # SWC501915-1 and loose wire like part # 10-1-1 (per foot) to attach it to the 7-way. If this wire is not present then you...

  • Best Wiring Options for Towing a 5th Wheel Trailer
You have a few options when it comes to 5th wheel wiring for your truck. Most trucks come with factory 7-way trailer connectors at the bumper. If your truck has a factory 7-way, then I recommend installing a 5th wheel wiring harness like the Hopkins Endurance 5th Wheel Harness, # 41157. In-bed harnesses provide a quick and easy connection point in the bed, so you don't have to modify the existing trailer harness to make it longer or use an extension. This harness has a 90-degree plug,...

  • Recommendations For Adding Tail Lights To A Kuat NV 2.0 Bike Rack
Though you will need to have a 4 Flat on your 2001 VW Eurovan, and for this I do recommend the Curt # C56175, adding lights to your Kuat NV 2.0 is definitely a good idea. I went through all our options for adding lights to a bike rack or cargo trailer, and the Curt Auxiliary LED Indicator Lights # C53201 will be the good option, but there is a potential issue. The base of the rack is not the same length on both sides and the arm the swings up and tightens down on the wheel will give you...

  • Options to Power Lights in Trailer Without Being Connected to 7-Way on Truck
When it comes to running the lights in your trailer without having to hook to the 7-way on your truck, I recommend using some 10 gauge wire to add a car battery to your trailer for power. You'll just need a few supplies in addition to a battery; 10 gauge wire, # 10-2-1 (sold by the foot), 2 ring terminals like # 44-5356A, and a couple quick splice connectors, # SWC501915-1. Just find a spot on the trailer for a battery, splice into the 12 volt circuit on your 7-way with one of the wires...

This adapter will not require and cutting or splicing into your 2016 Ram 3500's factory wiring. If you need to hardwire install the controller, I can help you determine which wire colors carry which functions on the vehicle side brake controller installation port in your 2016 Ram 3500. • Wiring a Side Marker Light to the Running Light Wire on a Trailer
You can run a jumper wire to T-off from the main running light wire to the side marker light using something like a quick splice connector, # SWC501915-1. Or you can use a butt connector, # 05732-2. In one end, place the wire from the trailer connector and in the other end insert the wire from the side marker light and the wire to the tail light. The wire is likely just a version of automotive wire that is made more rigid so that it is easier to route it through tight spaces. Or it could be shielded wire or even cross-link wire. If you need some wire for electric brakes you can use # 10-1-1. The connector sounds like it might be a quick splice connector such as # SWC501915-1 also known as a Scotch Lock which is the 3M name brand.

  • No Power To Reverse Lights On Trailer
In this senario, I would run a wire from the center pin of the 7-way to the reverse light circuit on your truck. This will enable you to bypass the fuse. Because of this direct connection you should be able to back up without your trailer brakes engaging. It is best to use a quick splice like part # SWC501915-1 to tap into the circuit after probing the wiring for the reverse light with a tester like part # PTW2993. Now for the wiring. Although your 2008 Monaco Knight motor home is pre-wired with a plug for a brake controller, I do not have a wiring harness with plug that has been confirmed to fit. We want to thank you for your recent purchase! You wouldn't need to use dielectric grease with a butt connector such as part # DW05714 (view video at the 1:16 mark) as electrical tape will work great. Heat shrinkable tubing such as part # DW05451 will help protect against the elements. It works with 14-18 gauge wire. Most trailer light wiring is 16-gauge.
