Question:

I had a blow out on my trailer which resulted in a broken brake wire. While I was repairing the break I noticed that the wire and end connector were quite different that what Im used to. The wire had the usual copper conductor, but it was inside a very hard plastic sheath, and the two then were inside the usual outer covering. The connector used to connect two brake wires together was shaped like a very small can, with a flat head and round sides. Unfortunately, I do not have photos to share. What Id like to know is: by what name is wire like this and connectors like these called? Thank you!

The wire is likely just a version of automotive wire that is made more rigid so that it is easier to route it through tight spaces. Or it could be shielded wire or even cross-link wire. If you need some wire for electric brakes you can use # 10-1-1.

The connector sounds like it might be a quick splice connector such as # SWC501915-1 also known as a Scotch Lock which is the 3M name brand.
