Question:
Hello, I have a home made trailer, I am concerned about the length from the ball to where the brackets fit over the trailers frame for the lift chains? Also for the brackets that fit over the frame how wide can the frame be? What 2inch ball would go with this weight distribution hitch?

Expert Reply:
The inside width of the frame channels of the Curt Hangers part # C17057 that you referenced are 3-3/16 inches.
The distance from the center of the hitch ball to the center of the frame hanger will be 31 inches.
If either of the two dimensions I listed would pose a problem for installing the # C17057 on your trailer you have the option of using the bolt on brackets part # C17005 which will bolt to the side of the trailer frame. This will get around the problem of a trailer frame being too wide or if there is interference above the trailer's frame 31 inches back from the hitch ball.
For a 2 inch hitch ball you would want the part # 40038.
