Firestone Ride-Rite Air Spring Basics

Firestone Ride-Rite springs are designed to increase safety and reduce the strain on your vehicle when you are hauling heavy loads or towing a heavy trailer. The springs partner with your existing rear suspension system to help keep your truck level, maintain even load distribution and increase stability. Hauling heavy loads or towing a heavy trailer can make the rear of your truck sag and the front end rise. This puts more strain on your rear axle and reduces contact between your front tires and the road, causing problems with braking, steering control and traction. By adding air springs to your rear suspension, you can help to level your truck and improve braking and handling. The air springs also help to level your headlight beams and reduce wear on your tires.

Adjustable Air Pressure

Firestone Ride-Rite air spring airline installation

The air pressure in your Ride-Rite springs can be adjusted manually, side to side, to compensate for off-center loads. A centered load improves the stability of your truck by reducing body roll. The air springs will also help to absorb road shock and to soften contact between your axle and frame. This prevents bottoming out, thus improving ride comfort. Route the air line tubing for the springs to your truck's bumper to provide easy access to the manual inflation valves.

Air Spring Construction

RED Label spring construction

Unlike standard Ride-Rite air springs, the RED Label air springs operate up to 150 psi to maximize its weight capacity. The springs have four layers of reinforced rubber to ensure durability and enhance load support. A braided wire girdle creates the double-convoluted shape of each air spring, increasing the burst pressure of the spring. The rubber springs are attached to corrosion-resistant metal end plates with a time-proven, rolled crimp seal that keeps the bags securely anchored.

Air Spring Installation

Each RED Label Extreme Duty kit includes vehicle-specific brackets, fasteners, and hardware for fast, no-drill installation. The hardware installs directly on your axle and frame and the air springs install onto the mounting points provided by the brackets. Additional equipment like control panels, compressors, and air tanks are sold separately.

  • Recommended Best/Better Air Spring Suspension Enhancement for 2012 Ford F-350 Dually 4x4
With your 2012 Ford F-350 Dually 4x4 you are most likely towing some big loads. My recommendation is to use the Air Lift LoadLifter 7500 XL Air Helper Springs - Rear Axle # AL57596 for the greatest load leveling support or the Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate Air Springs w/ Internal Bumpers # AL88396. Either of these options are custom fit for your vehicle and are compatible with in-bed hitches in case you will be using them with a gooseneck or 5th wheel. I also recommend using a...

  • Recommended Air Bags and Compressor w/ Bluetooth for a 2015 Ford F-350
Hey Lucas. The air bag kits don't require any wiring run to the cab and we've got a couple of options for wireless compressors that will not only handle the air bags but also be able to air up tires. To add a set of air bags to your 2015 Ford F-350, I recommend the Firestone Ride-Rite Red Label Extreme Duty Air Helper Springs item # F2703. These air springs have a 7,500 lbs capacity and are compatible with in bed hitches. They are compatible with dually and the single rear models as well....

  • Air Bag Kit for 2016 Ford F-250 Compatible with B&W Turnover Ball Hitch
Firestone air bag kits # F2703 (7500-lbs) and # F2597 (5000-lbs) fit both 2WD and 4WD versions of your 2016 F-250 and both are compatible with your in-bed B&W hitch # BWGNRK1111. If you want to add a compressor to give you easiest pressure adjustment you can use single path kit # F2097. Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate Air Helper Springs # AL88396 fits your 4WD 2016 Ford F-250 but my contact there could not give me 100% assurance of compatibility with the B&W Gooseneck hitch # BWGNRK1111...

  • Air Bag Kit Recommendation for 2015 Ford F-350 With Lance Camper 1172
Hey Kenneth, I would recommend the Firestone Ride RIte Extreme Duty part # F2703 which is rated higher at 7,500 lb compared to the standard duty of 5,000 lbs. We really like the Firestone air bag kits here as they have proven to us to have the highest quality air bags. Are you looking for a compressor kit too? If so, I would recommend the Firestone Air Command part # F56VV. This has a heavy duty compressor as well which means they will inflate quicker and this also can be controlled from...

  • Should Install of Firestone Ride Rite Kit Require Different Spacers on Both Sides of Truck
A different amount of spacers is not needed between the left and right side of your 2016 Ford F-250 to install the Firestone Ride Rite kit part # F2703. I would make sure your truck is sitting on level ground, isn't loaded on one side of the truck, and also that your suspension is in good working order and not sagging due to a worn out spring.

  • Recommended Air Bags and Compressor w/ a Tank for a 2016 Ford F-350
All of our air bags are sold separately from our compressors, however we do have a compressor kit that will fulfil your needs. You will just need to purchase it separately from the air bags. For a set of air bags, I recommend the Firestone Ride-Rite Red Label item # F2703. These air bags have a 7,500 lbs load leveling capacity that will keep your 2016 Ford F-350's rear end from squatting when you're towing your 5th wheel trailer. This kit includes custom fit brackets that are compatible...

  • Installation of Firestone Red Label Air Bags on 2012 Ford F-250 With Block Underneath Jounce Stop
Installing the # F2703 on your 2012 F-250 will require moving the block in your picture. However, I'm not sure if it can be moved to the top of the jounce stop since we don't have any information on it and neither did Firestone. I recommend checking with the manufacturer before attempting to move it to the top. The other option is to completely remove it. If you are able to swap it with the jounce stop you can measure to see if a spacer will be required. You will need to measure the distance...

  • Recommended 7,500LB Capacity Air Springs and Compressor For a 2016 Ford F-250
Personally I prefer the Air Lift LoadLifter 7500 XL Ultimate Air Helper Springs # AL57596 over the Firestone Red Label # F2703 for your 2016 Ford F-250. The Air Lift has an internal jounce bumper which not only helps to prevent damage to the spring but it also helps to reduce bouncing when towing heavy loads. Since installation of air springs requires removing the factory jounce bumper you lose this component all together with the Firestone. It is also easier to fill the Air Lift springs...

I have several options for you but none of which include both the air bag kit and the air compressor. Therefore, you will need to purchase an air bag kit specifically designed to fit your 2016 Ford F-250 in addition to an air compressor kit. The Air Lift LoadLifter 7500 XL Air Helper Springs part # AL57596 is a confirmed fit for you 2016 Ford F-250 with factory tow package. Thanks for the pictures! The plate you are needing to get behind is for your gooseneck ball in bed hitch. You will have to remove that to reach the bolt. • Is Air Lift or Firestone Air Bag Kit Better for a 2012 Ford Super Duty
Both the Air Lift LoadLifter 7500 XL # AL57596 and the Firestone Ride-Rite Red Label Extreme Duty Air Helper Springs # F2703 are excellent choices for your 2012 Ford Super Duty but when compared to each other the Firestone # F2703 is the winner. This is due to the rolled crimp seal that connects the bags with the metal end plates. The rolled crimp seal ensure that the rubber air bags don't ever get damaged by the metal end caps. Typically you only see that happen if there is no air pressure...

There aren't actually 7,500 lb Air Lift air bags that fit the 2WD model (I checked directly with Air Lift), but there are from Firestone: - Firestone Ride-Rite Red Label Extreme Duty Air Helper Springs # F2703 The # F2703 have the 7,500 lb capacity and fit your 2WD F-250, but I don't think your application needs them, in all honesty.
