Built-In Offset for Dual Applications

This wheel is designed to be used in dual-wheel setups. The 5.59" offset allows the wheel to be positioned closer to the trailer frame when used as the inner wheel of the setup. And if you use this wheel in the outer position, the offset ensures that it will sit closer to the outside of your trailer. This hub-piloted wheel centers on the hub, not the lugs, and it requires the use of flange nuts (sold separately) for installation.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Video Transcript for Review of Triangle Trailer Tires and Wheels - Tire and Wheel Combo - TR28VR

Hello, neighbors and friends. Steve here with etrailer.com. Folks, today we're looking at our Triangle brand 235/75R 17.5 inch radial tire with a 17.5 inch matching dual wheel with an nice offset and it's an eight on 6.5 inch lug pattern and a load range H. So folks, as you can already tell, this is a big beefy tire and wheel assembly. It is made and designed for use on trailers. The offset that you're seeing there is gonna allow for the wheel to be used either as an inner or outer on the dual.

It's a very nice sturdy steel construction. It's got excellent corrosion resistance. That nice silver powder coat finish is on top of an already e-coated primer, and it has what's called a hub-centric pilot hole. that's a 4.76 diameter. And because it's a hub-piloted wheel, the wheel's gonna require use of flange nuts and those are sold separately.

And those flange nuts would need to be a 5/8 by 18 thread count. Now it is a radial tire. It's gonna be great for highway use. It's got all steel belts that's gonna enhance durability and extend the tread life. And they use their computer generated tread design and a premium rubber compound material to offer superior traction during wet or dry conditions.

Now it does use wide shoulders to promote even wear on that tread pattern, and it's a very nice high-quality wheel that's gonna meet all DOT specifications. As I mentioned before, it's an eight on 6.5 inch lug pattern. Since it's an even number of lug holes, you simply measure center to center diagonally or straight across between two lug studs, and that's where you're getting your 6.5 inch. The wheel capacity is rated at 6,200 pounds and the tire has a max load rating of 5,675 pounds at 125 PSI. Once again, it's a load range eight, or H.

It's an 18 ply rated and it has a max speed of 81 miles per hour or a speed rating of M. So folks, again, a very nice tire and wheel combination here. Again, this is the Triangle brand as you see on the rubber on the outside. Very nice tire, very nice wheel. Again, this is for a dual application, most likely on a big truck, bus or trailer. Well folks, that will wrap it up for today with our look together at this tire wheel combo. I'm Steven, thanks so much for your time. Thanks for joining me, stay safe out there on the road.
