Built-In Offset for Dual Applications

This wheel is designed to be used in dual-wheel setups. The 5.59" offset allows the wheel to be positioned closer to the trailer frame when used as the inner wheel of the setup. And if you use this wheel in the outer position, the offset ensures that it will sit closer to the outside of your trailer. This hub-piloted wheel centers on the hub, not the lugs, and it requires the use of flange nuts (sold separately) for installation.

Hub-Piloted Wheel

This wheel is hub piloted, which means that it centers on the hub, not the lugs. The wheel requires the use of flange nuts (sold separately) for installation.

1-Year Worry-Free Guarantee

This tire has a 1-year worry-free guarantee. If within the first 12 months the tire is damaged in any way, it will be replaced at no charge.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Video Transcript for Review of Triangle Trailer Tires and Wheels - Tire with Wheel - TR52ZR

Hello, everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this Triangle 215/75R17.5 radial tire in a Load Range H, and it's mounted on this 17 1/2 inch black steel dual wheel with an offset and an 8 on 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern. Now this tire and wheel assembly is designed for use on heavy-duty dual wheel trailers. The wheel itself is a steel wheel, has the two handholds. You can see one here, one right over here. It is sturdy and corrosion resistant.

They do use a black powder-coat finish over an E-coat primer for excellent corrosion resistance. And this wheel is a dual wheel, so it does have a high offset, which allows the wheel to be used as either the inner wheel, which would be a position like this, or if you split it around, you would use it as an outer wheel, like that position on a dual wheel setup. Now, basically, if this is used as an outer wheel, like it's positioned now, it's gonna have a -5.59 inches of offset. If you spin it around and install it like this, which would be an inner wheel, then it'll just have a positive offset of 5.59 inches. Now, that offset allows the wheel to position closer to the trailer frame when it's used as an inner wheel on your setup.

And if you use this wheel in the outer position, that offset will ensure that it sits closer to the outside of your trailer. The diameter on this wheel is 17 1/2 inches. The width on just the wheel itself is 6 3/4 inches. The bolt pattern on this wheel is an 8 on 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern. And if you wanna measure that on a wheel that's an even number of lugs, in this case, eight, it's pretty easy because the lug holds are directly across from each other.

So all you have to do is pick one of the holes, let's say this one, measure from the center of the hole directly across to the center, the hole right across from it. On this wheel, we measured 6 1/2 inches. So that means it's an 8-lug 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern. Weight capacity on just the wheel is 6,200 pounds. Now this also is a hub-piloted wheel.

You can see this large hole in the center of the wheel. That's the pilot hole diameter. Now diameter on this is 4.76 inches. And a hub-piloted wheel is designed to center using the hub, not the lugs. So when you do install this, it'll center on this large hole. And then if you notice, the lugs do not have any bevel to them. So, basically, it'll require the use of flange nuts for installation. Normally, the flange nuts you'll be using is 5/8 inch by 18 size flange nuts, and we do sell those separately on our website. Now the tire that's mounted on this wheel, it is a premium, multi-use steer, and all-position radial tire. It is constructed with all-steel belts to enhance durability and extend the tread life. You notice this way you can see it uses wide shoulders to promote even wear and better traction, and it offers an enhanced casing package to help improve toughness and retreadability. Now, the tire size, we'll spin this around, and the tire size will be stamped on the side wall. You can see 215/75R17.5. The R means that it is a radial tire. Now the section width on this is 8.3 inches. Overall diameter from the bottom to the top is 30.2 inches. This tire is a Load Range H, which means it's a 16-ply-rated tire. So it does have a maximum load when used in a dual wheel capacity of 4,540 pounds at 125 PSI. And the last thing I do wanna mention is the speed rating. The tire now does have a speed rating on it, and it's stamped on the sidewall with a letter designation. And where you'll find that is right after the tire size we went over. You'll see two numbers for the load index, and then you'll see the letter L. Speed rating L will mean this has a 75 mile per hour speed rating. But that's gonna do it for a look at this Triangle 215/75R17.5 radial tire in a Load Range H on a 17 1/2 inch black steel dual wheel.
