Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at an Optronics 6 inch LED surface mount trailer light. Now the light provides your trailer with tail, stop and turn signals. It features long lasting LEDs which are great replacements for incandescent lights. LEDs last longer, they burn brighter and they're more efficient. With LEDs you don't have to worry about replacing bulbs and you don't have to worry about brittle filaments.The unit contains a nice polycarbonate lens and housing. It's very strong and durable.

It is SAE and Department of Transportation compliant. It's a surface mount installation with the built in mounting flange, mounting hardware not included. When it comes to the wiring we're looking at a three wire design. So you have your black wire, which is for power, that's for your tail lights. Red wire is for your stop and turn signal.

Then white wire is your ground wire. Each wire has the male bullet connector on it. Now for your trailer doesn't accept this type of connection you can actually cut these off, strip back the wires and you can hard wire it if needed.A few measurements to go over this real quick, then we'll hook it up to power and you can see what it looks like with power running to it. The overall measurement that we have going edge-to-edge this direction is about 7-9/16th inches. Edge-to-edge going this direction is 3-5/16 inches.

The overall thickness front to back is about 3/4 of an inch thick, or 3/4 of an inch deep. The mount holes, right here, these are separated on center apart from 1 another by about 2-3/4 inches. Then the mount hole separation going this direction center on center is pretty close to 7 inches, it's about 6-15/16 inches, right in that area.We're going to go ahead and hook it up to power. Again, white is our ground. Black is our main power wire.

Then red is our stop and turn. We'll turn off our overhead light so you can see it in a low light setting. As you can see, the unit has multiple LEDs, or multiple diodes, so the multi-diode design really helps optimize the overall light output. This is the tail light function. When we apply the brakes you can see how the signal output increases. It'll do that same thing when we activate our turn signals.Now when it comes to power draw at 12.8 volts. For the stop and turn signal we're looking at 0.243 amps. For the tail light we're looking at 0.046 amps. Go ahead and do that same sequence with the lights on.
