This trailer hub-and-drum assembly has a zinc coating that resists corrosion, making it ideal for use on your boat or snowmobile trailer. All GAL-DEX hubs and drums undergo a test in which they are sprayed with a 5-percent salt solution to determine corrosion resistance over time. These products are able to withstand 500 hours of constant exposure to the saltwater mist. This 500-hour salt spray rating indicates that a product is not only durable enough to last in freshwater environments, but it can also be used on trailers that come into contact with saltwater.
The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.
On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)
To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)
Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

Now this is a marine-grade hub and drum assembly, which will fit axles with drum brakes. It includes everything shown here on the table, the hub and drum assembly itself, the inner, the outer bearings. Now the bearing races are pre-installed already into the hub. The grease seal, the grease cap, and the lug nuts are all included.This hub and drum assembly does have a Gal-Dex zinc plating, which is 500-hour salt spray rating.

Wheel stud size, a half-inch by 20. The drum dimensions, we're gonna measure here. Inside- inside is 12 inches. The width on it is 2 and a quarter inches. And the bearing races in the seals are all included.We'll start with the inner bearing.
The inner bearing is a part number 25580. Has a 1.75 inner diameter. That goes right onto the inner bearing race just like that. The outer bearing, which is part number 14125A, has an inner diameter of 1.25 inches. Goes on the outer bearing race just like that.
And I mentioned the races we're all pre-installed and included.The grease seal right here is part number 43285. Has an inner diameter, it is a double-lip grease seal, has an inner diameter of 2.25 inches. Outer diameter of 3.376 inches. And that'll go right in the back here. Once the bearing's installed, then the seal goes on over that. The grease cap, which is part number F001526, has an outer diameter of 2.722 inches. Once the outer bearing is installed in the race, then that is what goes over that, just like that. And the lug nuts. That includes 8 of the part number X1023R. Those are half-inch by 20-size lug nuts.But that should do it for the review on the Dexter 12-Inch Galvanized Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 5200-pound to 7000-pound axles, with the 8 on 6 1/2-inch bolt pattern. I used these on my salt water boat trailer. The product works very well and have stood up to the salt water quite well.
I am happy with the results and ease of use.
Both drums had rust spots in the same location, like they were sitting somewhere with water in them. Used some 200 grit sandpaper to remove the rust be surface of drums still marred.
Product has held up remarkably; I trailer only so there are weekly drops for the boat.
Last year was lighter then normally but all in all better then I though they would last.

Bought the galvanized drum brakes for a 6000# boat trailer used strictly in salt water. With rinse off after use they seem to be holding up pretty good.
Decided to try a galvanized drum for my boat trailer. Hopefully lasts better with no rust. The wheel studs on these drums are longer than the non galvanized version for some reason.
Stripping down a 16 year old 21 ft. salt water use trailer - from end to end. The folks @ etrailer were very knowledgeable, and helpful in my decision making.
