Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Trailer hitch fits as described and went on without any issues. If you have any questions their videos explain the steps for the install. High quality materials and looks great on the van!

After one year of using this product it is still performing well and looks just like the first day I put it on. Absolutely no issues!

Thank you for the excellent communication, through email and calling. I have nothing but good things to say with etrailer. I installed a hitch and wiring on my Chrysler Pacifica, and everything fit up perfectly and works great. If I ever need anything trailer/towing-wise in the future, you have my dollar.

The entire transaction and experience was great. I am not a mechanic and I installed this in my driveway by jacking up the rear of my minivan about six inches and just crawling around under there. There were two times when I needed help from a second person: 1.) removing the exhaust mount pins from the rubber mounts without a special tool that I didn't know exists to do this; and 2.) holding one side of the hitch up in the air while I held and fastened the first side of the hitch to the frame. It took me 5 hours because I'm not fast and I don't like to backtrack due to errors. If you have access to a lift and the exhaust removal tool, this could take 3 hours. If you're experienced at this specific thing, you could do it in under 2 hours. My ONLY criticism of the process is that there are two photos in the instructions that are not good. The photos show where you should cut the heat shield and cut the undercarriage protector plate so that they can each be reinstalled around the hitch. I wasn't comfortable using the poor photos to blindly cut the shield and plate - so I took them in and out of position several times to make my own, customized cuts. It went fine - just took longer. Better photos in the instructions wouldn't have made the outcome any different but would have saved me about 40 minutes of fussiness.

I am giving 5 stars. The photos in the instructions that I referenced above weren't even necessary, so there's no reason to take stars/points away. In fact, I appreciate that the photos were there at all, in an effort to help further than just saying "trim to fit."

Shipping was lightning fast and everything was exactly as described and shown on the website. I was very satisfied and wish more transactions were as smooth and as clear as this one was.

The only follow-on comments I have are about hitch receiver positioning and angle. The receiver is a tiny bit low. In rare, extreme cases, it scrapes the ground. I think a factory hitch may have been set up to protrude through the bumper, affording another 3” of clearance. This has not hindered me, though. The larger problem is that the hitch is angled downward. I have a rear rack that I use and it has a riser an “S”-shaped arm that comes out of the hitch, rises up 7”, and then that’s where the rack sits. It slopes away from my vehicle but it’s stable. If that rack did not have the 7” riser, the rear of the rack would probably sit about 2” off of the road. After loading the vehicle down with weight, every small bump would smash the rack off the road. If the hitch were pointed parallel to the ground or perhaps up a bit, this wouldn’t be an issue. This is not the seller’s fault. This is a combination of my vehicle with this hitch. I could remove the hitch and shim the installation locations to re-angle it but I don’t want to invest the time. The hitch works - it just could’ve been better. I have a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. And I would still buy this hitch. If ever there’s a “next install”, I’ll just check for level before tightening everything and buttoning it all back up.

Came pretty fast and was more sturdy and well built than I expected. Installed it myself in the driveway with no lift. Was a touch difficult mainly because of the limited space under the van but still doable and instructions were easy to follow. I also watched the [online] from etrailer on how to install which helped me understand the fish wire technique. Otherwise, I would have taken 3 times as long. One tip is to have the right size sockets, a torque wrench, and be gentle on the plastic nut/washer things that attach the felt to the underside. I stripped one plastic one and had the wrong size socket for the big nuts.

Still solid, no issues, haven’t visualized any rust either up here in Iowa.

Mostly the hitch is positive. The spacing between the end mounting brackets is to narrow. There is extra round tube on left side to allow for a different position before welding. A quart inch may be enough to get a better fit.
I made cuts to accommodate the projections. The large cut out suggested seemed to course. All factory hardware was retained. The heat shield needed a small area of the rear corner to be trimmed.

Great product, and easy to get the right one for my vehicle. Company should find a better way to package their heavy duty products to include heavier duty cardboard inserts that match the outline of the product and exterior straps. Other than that I loved my experience with etrailer.

The draw-tite Max Frame Trailer Hitch. Is pretty straight forward. I put it on the same day as the delivery. It took me about 3.5 hours to install. It's pretty easy to do. I used a jack stand and a car jack. I rate the installation of this as 5 out of 10.

Very happy with the fit and quality of this hitch. I do have a few comments on installation that may be helpful to others. I'm a 71 year old weakling so this can be done by less than Mr. Universe even though this thing weighs a ton.

I did this on the ground using nothing but ramps to raise the van. I did however jack the van onto the ramps in two stages because I was afraid of overshooting the ramps of I tried to drive on. I jacked one side up 3.5" using the authorized jack points and put a block under the tire, then the other side 7" and slid the ramp under, then back to the first side for the final 3.5" to get that ramp under.

This hitch is far too heavy for a guy like me to raise in place by hand and fiddle with the nuts at the same time. My suggestion is that you use a floor jack to lift it into place. There is a trick to this. I put a scrap of lumber into the receiver with a C-clamp to fine tuning the balance. Otherwise the brackets just flop down and it falls off the jack (see the photo). Also note that you have to tuck the right side bracket over the muffler before you can use this jack trick. From there is was easy with my wife operating the jack as I lined the bolts up.

In one video they tell you this but in the directions they don't: There is a 10mm stud you should remove from the left side frame. You can install the hitch with it there but you can't get it center as well as it should be left to right.

One more thing I noticed is that I could have trimmed the heat shield up to 4" less than the 11" the instruction say and gotten better protection for the seat well. This will work only if you reinstall the shield after the hitch is installed as the instructions say (not as the videos show).

In general this sees very strong--plenty sturdy for the 1500lb the LX is rated to tow.

First one I ordered from a different source, somehow it arrived bent out of square, I can't imaging how much force was needed. Hitch from etrailer arrived in good shape and was installation was easy enough, there's a video and I put the back end on ramps. 2021 AWD Pacifica. Haven't towed anything, just bike and cargo racks. Looks very clean, mostly hidden by underbody panel.

by:
2018 Chrysler Pacifica

hitch itself is high quality and solid, installation was a bear, getting muffler hangers off was near impossible, and once off amount of play was still limited and al challenge to fish bolts. The real challenge was tightening the bolts on the muffler side, eventually went out and got a wobble extension, which worked on front and back nuts, but ended up tightening middle one with an open ended wrench, doubt I got advise torque on that one, got good exercise though. A crows foot socket would have like worked but the local stores didn't have that size in stock.

2017 Chrysler Pacifica

The video available from eTrailer was very helpful in understanding how to install the hitch on my 2017 Pacifica. While the instruction document included information on removing & cutting the underbody panel, there was no mention of it in the video. Using a floor jack, and a little help from a second person, I installed the hitch on my vehicle in my garage in around 3 hours. After removing the underbody panel, and working with the hitch, I found that I didn't have to cut the heat shield as much as identified in the instruction (and referred to in the video), and I significantly reduced the amount of the underbody panel that I cut out (maybe just a third of what the instructions indicate) which meant I only cut out one of the fasteners in the underbody. In case this is helpful for anyone else, I've included pictures of the changes I made).

by:
2021 Chrysler Pacifica

Was not to hard to install on my 2021 Pacifica. You do not have to cut out as much of the underneath panel as stated in the instructions. You definitely need two people to do some of the installation.

Hitch looks good on car not a lot hanging down, just sq. tube. As for instructions I would add removal of Left rear wheel to get at 3 bolts holding on shield makes it easier.

Looks good works great

by:

Very solid construction especially on the weld points. The hitch barely noticeable from the back end of the vehicle which makes it seem like its not there (nice). Good anchor points for chains and I love the wire harness mount in case I decide to wire through there.

Installation was sort of a pain because the video doesn't go over removal of the undercarriage protector and cutting that. However, the instructions did a good job of giving you cutting dimensions. I spent 1.5 hours doing this alone due to the cutting involved. If you are installing alone, use some jack stands to hold up hitch while you get it onto your bolts. A battery powered impact driver or ratchet go a long way. finger tighten first then hit it with the power tool.

by:

Installation was easy on a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Limited. Directions were clear and the online video helped. It looks nice and sleek as you only see the 2" receiver part. The cross tube is tucked underneath, out of sight. No issues with capacity. It far exceeds what the ol' mini van is capable of anyways.

by:

I found the installation instructions complete and simple to understand and follow. The kit had all the parts to do the job. I am quite happy with the product and the end result.

I would suggest getting a hold of a pair of car ramps to make the job easier. All-in-all it was a doable job for a week-end warrior mechanic.

received my hitch in 3 days, standard shipping! delivered to my door in perfect condition, unscratched and dent free. instructions for the hitch and wiring harness were clear and easy to follow. the hitch looked so good its a shame it isn't in a more prominent area.

I was very impressed with the quality and ease of installation. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking to buy a tow hitch. The etrailer videos were awesome and was a big reason for my choosing them.

by:
2018 Chrysler Pacifica

Came in a fast manor, video instructions were very helpful and the hitch was easy to instal. Without any power tools and no lift (used jack stands) this took me about 2 hours.

by:

I ordered the hitch and it got here in just a few days...
Put it in by myself with jack, jack stands , laying on my back/creeper..
Including taking the hitch out of the box , jacking the vehicle up, and modifying so bolts will slide in the frame, plus cut shield, and undercover it took about 2 hours total to install.
The measurements and directions were accurate.
good product.
Would recommend for the DIY guy.

Ive had the hitch about a year... I installed it myself and it was fairly easy... It works fine does what I need it to do... Im very looks oriented... So I think it hangs down a little to low... but thats just my opinion...

Mine seems to be angled down a little, towards the ground. Is that what you experienced? I might try to add some washers at the front to correct it.

by:

Install videos extremely helpful. Had to run out to get a torque wrench with higher foot/lbs. rating than the one I had. Was able to put it on in my driveway with car ramps. I cut the fabric material tighter than instructions say, but I don’t need lights.

Excellent hitch for the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica. Easy to install and it rides high under the bumper giving a nice finished look. The hitch was delivered two days after ordering. Etrailer continues their history of great service.

Excellent hitch. Fits nicely under my van. The video install instructions provided by etrailer were excellent in showing how to install the hitch on my van. If you follow the video instructions, you will have an easy install.

Fits perfectly and easy to install bought it for a bike carrier and it looks very heavy duty

Perfect fit, install video was dead on and super helpful. Fits great up in the bumper so the look is very nice and OEM like from the back. Was able to install this without lifting or even jacking up the van. A pair of Jack stands will make installing this by yourself a bit easier. Very happy overall.
