Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Video Transcript for Trailer Hitch Installation - 2017 Chevrolet Equinox - Draw-Tite

Today in our 2017 Chevrolet Equinox we'll be installing the Draw-Tite Max Frame Class 3 Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number 76028. Here's what our hitch looks like installed. As you can see it's nice and tucked up underneath our bumper here, has a very clean look. This nice welded-on collar outside the receiver gives it a finished appearance and helps give it some more strength. Towards the front of our vehicle we have our industry standard 5/8 inch diameter hitch pin hole right here. Towards the rear we have a J pin stabilization device hole.

What a J pin stabilization device does is help take some of that annoying shake and play and rattle out of what's inserted into your receiver. We have our nice easy to use safety chain loops here. They're fairly large; you should be able to fit pretty much any size safety chain in, all the way around the perimeter of it if you need to. This hitch features a 675 pound max gross tongue weight rating and a 4,500 pound max gross trailer weight rating. It does offer the use of weight distribution, but the numbers stay the same. This hitch features a nice high-gloss black powder coat finish which will provide us many years of rust and corrosion free service and blends in nicely with the vehicle.

Gives it a nice finished look. Now for a few measurements to better assist you in choosing any hitch mounted accessories you may need, such as a ball mount, bike rack, or cargo carrier. You're looking at about 4 1/2 inches from the center of the 5/8 inch diameter hitch pin hole to the rearmost part of the back bumper, and about 15 inches from the ground to the top of the class 3 2 inch receiver opening. Here's what our hitch comes with. We have the hitch itself and then our installation hardware right here. This hitch comes with 10 bolts; we'll only need 8 in order to install it.

Depending upon your application the center bolts right here, we'll either use 2 of these bolts here that will go into a weld nut. If you don't have a weld nut present on your vehicle we'll use 2 carriage bolts there with 1 of these small spacer blocks here. Those will drop down through the frame rail with these included pull wires. Then we'll secure it up with a conical tooth washer and then a nut. Now that we've gone over what's included, we'll show you how to get the hitch installed. Now up underneath our vehicle bottom section of our bumper, we have this door that's removable.

This will cover up where your factor hitch would be if your vehicle was equipped with one. You just push on these tabs here. There's 2 on the sides, 4 on the top, and we'll remove our door. We can set that aside. Now, if we we're to follow the center line of our bumper right here and go off to both sides of it, you'll find 2 small round holes. These round holes here are going to be where our bolts are going to come through to help secure the rear of our hitch. Take 1 of our pull wire here, start on the passenger side first, push it in the hole and we'll push it out the bumper support until it comes out. You can see our pull wire came through our bumper support there. Put on 1 of our small spacer blocks on the wire and we'll thread on a carriage bolt. Then we'll pull the end of the wire, our bolt comes out. We'll come right through this hole here, do the same for the driver's side. Now we're going to be doing what's called a reverse fish wire technique on this large hole. It's in both sides on our frame rails. Stick our large plate on our pull wire, thread on a carriage bolt. Push the carriage bolt up, stick the spacer plate up, pull our bolt down. We'll repeat the same process on our passenger side now. Now with an extra set of hands we can raise our hitch on up into position, making sure we don't push our carriage bolts up into the frame. We'll secure it with conical tooth washers, teeth facing towards the hitch. Then we'll thread on our nut and repeat the same process on the other side. Now we'll push up on our hitch a little bit and install our side hardware. It's a bolt and a conical tooth washer. We'll repeat the same process on the other side. With all of our side hardware in place we'll put our middle hardware in using our conical tooth washers and thread on a nut. Now we can tighten down all of our hardware. We'll repeat the same process on the other side. With all of our hardware tightened we can now torque it down to the amount specified in the instructions. I just want to point out for clarity that our carriage bolts get a different level of torque than the bolts that went directly into the weld nuts, so just make sure you pay attention to that. That completes our installation of the Draw-Tite Max Frame Class 3 Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number 76028 on our 2017 Chevrolet Equinox.

I searched the internet to put a hitch on my 2016 Chevy Equinox and found an instructional video from eTrailer.com where they installed on my exact car. I decided to go with eTrailer.com because they answered all my questions and because of the video-I support businesses that go the extra mile with these videos. Shipping was quick and well tracked, however, the box was flimsy and the one end of the hitch had come out of the box side and the ball mount could have easily come out of that hole during shipping. If I were eTrailer.com I'd charge an extra couple of bucks for more sturdy boxes-people will still buy as eTrailer is a well-trusted brand and this would overcome a lot of the negative reviews you'll see on their site about this shipping issue in their own reviews :-) I installed the hitch by myself (definitely recommend help as two people holding it up to the frame makes attaching 100% easier) in about 45 minutes total (out of the box, read instructions, review video again and installation complete). All hardware went on with no issues. Great quality hitch! I also bought the lesser expensive wiring assembly because most recent equinox's come hitch ready with pre-wired assembly in the left side compartment-snap and done. Picked up a new trailer at Home Depot within days and drove 5 feet and the clacking was horrible. I had always had a welded hitch before buying a hitch that took a ball mount. I really thought something was wrong and when I searched the internet that night it turns out this is very common. However, all you need is some sort of hitch "silencing" device. The number of options will drive you mad but I went with the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch and it did the trick for much less than most of the other options. If I were eTrailer.com I'd have that as one of the RECOMMENDED add-ons and explanation why its super-worthy when customers are buying a hitch. Would have saved me the time and hassle of dealing with it later and the extra shipping charge for buying after the fact when I got free shipping for the other items the first time :-) All in all, I'm super, super happy with my hitch, wiring assembly, ball mount, ball mount locking pin and the hitch silencer. Buy with confidence from eTrailer.com Paul R., Syracuse, NY 287168

I installed the hitch on Friday . Took about 1 1/2 hour. No problems. My Equinox is a 2010 so it had the nuts already installed in the frame. It fit perfectly and I'm sure it will serve my purpose. 114353

75681 seems to be a fine product. I really like the extra strength of the 75681. The only thing which I would suggest for consideration would be for the addition of 2 (two) more Pull Wires. The Pull Wires are a great idea and a real time and trouble saver. My installation required the use of the 2 (two) Carriage Bolts and the 2 (two) 1-1/2 x 2 (Small Blocks) for the Bumper Mounting Bracket. I did my installation on my driveway. A small hydraulic jack was very helpful in lifting the receiver socket towards the frame while installing the Bumper Mounting Bracket Hex Nuts and Conical Washers. The installation did require me more than 40 (forty) minutes. The online installation videotape was very informative and helpful. This was a very smooth project. Thank You! John M. Habak 95168

etrailer, The overview buying experience from etrailer was excellent. The product descriptions and videos were exactly what I ordered and helped a lot with installation. I also liked how etrailer took the initiative to send me an email the day the products were delivered. The only reason I didn't rate this product as excellent was because the wire that feed the hex bolts through the bumper was a little short so I had to extend it by taping a clothes hanger to it. Also, the included paper instructions were a little hard to read, because so many different makes and models were crammed into one page of instructions. It wasn't clear on how to install the two hex bolts, and small blocks, that were furthest from the hitch. Overall I was very pleased with the product and recommend it to everyone. 2015 Chevy Equinox AWD Thank you! C.R. 192927

Short of installing it's self my son-in-law and I installed this hitch for my 13 Chevy Equinox in just under an hour. The only tuff spot was the two bolts below the license plate on the frame. My compliments to Hidden Hitch and Chevy. Thank You etrailer.com for the ease of purchase and fast delivery. The item was well packed. 68341

What we did is use the fish wire and added a piece of wire to it. Then we fished the bolt and washer through the end of the tube and pulled the bolt through the drilled whole and then attached the nut, etc. I used needle nose pliers to grab the wire to pull through. Really wasnt that bad just caused a little head scratching. Hope this helped some.

I was very impressed with e-trailers willingness to exceed expectations. I placed my order late at night and within 7 hours I had received an email indicating my purchase had been shipped and the shipping method had been upgraded for free to cut the delivery time down a couple of days. The install was a little more difficult than what e-trailer had made it out to being. Not that it was any more complicated, but the wires they provide in order to fish the bolts through the bumper are inadequate and in my case would have been impossible to do. I ended up using my own fish tape to pull the bolts through. However once that was done, the install went extremely smooth. I am very happy with my purchase, and I would definitely recommend e-trailer to anyone looking to purchase from them. 125454

The 3111-1base plate for my Saturn fit very well and can't be seen when the arms are removed. Wonderful product, and I am extremely happy it. Installation of the trailer receiver was very easy, fit like a glove, and is very solid. It took about 35 minutes. Instructions were very easy to follow. Great job Etrailer!. And thanks to George from Etrailer for the follow up email. You do a super job. 339296

I installed this by myself yesterday right after I received it. I used a jack stand as a helper. Everything aligned perfect. Biggest problem was installing the nuts and washers at the receiver. Not much room in there. Secured the washers in position with masking tape, then started the nuts on the bolts, removed tape before securing nuts. Overall, an easy install with no bad surprises. I replaced a full size pickup with this Equinox. Needed something to haul stuff like lumber, building supplies, appliances, etc. I will be towing a small 4x8 trailer to transport items that won't fit in my car. I could have got away with a lighter rated hitch, as my car is only rated to tow a maximum of 1500 pounds. but I like the extra mounts on the hitch. 302218

2017 Chevy Equinox trailer hitch - not only was the product well constructed, but the videos on installation take the guess work out of it. My hitch came with a damaged box and scratches on the paint. Concerned about rusting etrailer promptly sent another which arrived fast in good condition. The service on the phone was wonderful. The local U-Haul dealer was going to charge me $4$$ for the installation which included $1$$ for the wiring. My Equinox has the trailer wiring quick connect which took me 2 minutes to open and connect the harness. So my total with receiver and harness was $1$$. Compare that to the U-Haul $4$$ quote. It was a no brainer. I am telling many friends about trailer.com. Thank you for a great product and great service! 360922

Great shipping time. Placed my order Sunday and products arrived on Wednesday. Everything fits perfectly. Ordered the Class III hitch by DrawTight and a cargo basket to fit by Curt. Everything is exactly what I thought it would be. 271957

Another great hitch from etrailer! This is the second Hidden Hitch brand hitch I have installed on 2 separate GM vehicles, this time for my 2012 Terrain. It installed just as easily as the video, in about a half hour. I chose this hitch over the Curt as it looked like this had a bit more structural support due to additional mounting point. It's very solid and looks very good on the Terrain, with only the receiver portion showing thru the rear bumper fascia. FYI, for those of you ordering this for a Terrain and need a harness, you may want to double-check to see if you have the factory connector, even though you may not have the factory towing package. I have an SLT-2 without towing package, but after checking the video on etrailer for the factory connection, sure enough, the connector was there and all I needed was the simple harness from etrailer meant for those vehicles withe the factory trailer package. 54826

The frame hitch(76028) arrived in good shape although it had worn through the box in 4 places. I was glad to see that 4 snaking wires were provided. I used them to position the 4 carriage bolts but left them on. With the hitch on the floor I threaded the wires into each frame hitch hole. Because I was working alone I raised the hitch on wood blacks. As I raised the hitch I made sure that each snaking wire stayed in the proper hitch hole. I did not remove the wires until the hitch was up against the car's frame. This way, It was possible to secure the hitch without danger of knocking the carriage bolts back into the car frame. The frame hitch fit nicely and I am completely Satisfied. The wiring (56094) went well but I do not like the wires being exposed to the weather, In the past i have carried the wires in the trunk and only exposed them to the weather when actually in use. 356814

I got my order in 4 days. Great. I came to putting hitch on and found that pull wires for putting bolts and blocks in bumper were to short to reach center of bumper so I added a piece of wire to one pull wire. I tried pulling the block and bolt to the center of the bumper and it would only go about half way to the center and would get caught. I had to make another hook and wire to fish block and bolt back out. Tried from the other side and had the same problem. I then tried pushing blocks up through the rectangle holes and found they would't fit through them either. I ended up taking my disc grinder and ground about 1/16 in. off of each edge of the blocks so the blocks would fit through the holes and got blocks and bolts in this way. After that everything went well. Hitch is on and appears to be a really solid hitch. 188750

The quality of the hitch is very high and it's fit to my vehicle perfect with all installation holes a brackets lining up perfectly. I will stress the need to get an M12 tap and chase (re-tap) the weldnuts in the vehicle body. The vertical holes, because they do not hold dirt and water, required only brushing out. However, without tapping the horizon holes (2 on each side) the bolts were not going in. Temporary use coiled wires worked like a charm for installing blind bolts. Have a partner install nuts on the blind bolts while you steady the hitch. Installing at least bolt in the middle loose helps hold up the hitch. Start all bolts by hand before tightening any bolt/nut. Be sure to use a torque wrench...what your hand thinks is tight is a long way from the required bolt load. 141812

This hitch arrive within 3 days from the time of the order! The box was a bit beat up from the shipper causing the hitch to bust through the box and get scratch up but it was otherwise fine. The manufacturer's instructions were lacking so I could not have installed the hitch without eTrailer's excellent instruction video and an extra pair of hands. You have to be careful to not accidentally push the four lag bolts back into the vehicle's bulkhead / frame, Otherwise the installation could have been easier. Lastly, if installing a wiring connection for the lights, check to make sure your Equinox//Terrain has the factory ready wiring connection as mine did, which I'm wondering if they all come that way now. The Curt C56210 wiring connector is really simple to install. 208390

I was really impressed that all the mounting holes (8) all lined up perfectly on my 2013 Equinox. The instructions were accurate and easy to follow if you take the time to read them which I didn't and paid the price. There are two styles of bolts, four of which are to be associated with the plates that are fed into the vehicle channels with the supplied feeder wires. I used the non carriage bolts by mistake and they were not fun fishing them out. Thank goodness I had flexible magnet. Also the video recommends to use 2 people. I managed by myself with a couple of jack stands and a bottle jack to position it in place while laying on my back. Took a one hour job and turned it into a four hour one. Again I give the product an A+ and the installer an F. 86036

Outstanding product! Online videos were very helpful, BUT my 2014 V-6 Equinox did not have nuts welded on the inside of the frame for the larger bolts, as described in the written instruction sheet - I needed the bolt leaders included with the kit. Hint: to put tension on the bolt as you attempt to thread on the nuts, thread the leader up onto the bolt (you've just installed using the leader) 3/4" or so, then bend it 90 degrees to the right. That allows you to exert a downward force on the bolt while installing the washer and nut on the clean threads. Tighten the nut as instructed, then clip off the exposed end of the leader. Also, the Class 3 hitch may require that you trim the plastic trim piece removed in Step 1 before it can be reinstalled. 99136

Hitch fit great and I installed as planned. Seems pretty heavy duty and well made and finished. Only a bit of it was poking out of the box after shipping but no damage. I am perhaps less happy with GM who changed the mounting holes / no welded nuts in my 2012 Equinox from what the drawing showed so I had to slide in bolts and plates from end of channel since hole was too small, so I had to add an extension to the fish wire but it worked ok. The hitch mounted up snugly enough against the frame and stayed in place while I got all the bolts to align and thread fortunately since its not light weight. I have not started hooking up the lighting kit yet - paper instructions are a bit confusing but believe the video will help me more. Thanks. 48231

Hitch fit perfectly, just as described. If your vehicle is more than a couple years old I would highly recommend professional installation though. Spent 5 hours with penetrating oil and a steel brush cleaning out the weld nuts on my vehicle. After that was complete the actual install was about 45 minutes. I'm sure the money spent on professional installation would have been well worth it with my situation. Excellent shipping speed and communication from etrailer, would definitely order from them again! 57264

Another option to consider would be to purchase a tap for $10 to speed up the thread cleaning process. Infact, this might be a thoughtful item for Hidden Hitch to offer with the package or for etrailer to recommend and sell on the side.

Some times a tap is necessary for severely corroded weld-nuts. If not used properly though, the tap could easily break the weld nut free and the installation gets significantly more complicated.

Great company to do business with. Web site easy to navigate, very informative. Can't say enough about all the great videos from choosing the right hitch to installing. Saved me a bunch of time. Went on easy using my motorcycle jack. I like the way the hitch sits high and out of site. Spend most time cleaning out the rusted threads on just a 2 year old car. Buy the wire brush if you don't have one. The wire harness was quick and easy. Sure beats the old days of finding wires and splicing into them. well worth the money. The hitch and harness was delivered in just a couple days. Will definitely be back as I rebuild my utility trailer. They have it all at great prices. Thank You etrailer.com ! 313117

Once I got all of the corrosion/ rust cleaned out of the pre-threaded holes on the vehicle the the hitch bolted right up. Took me about 45 minutes total (by myself) for the installation. I would say had I had clean un-corroded/rusted holes to deal with, the installation could have easily been completed in 30 minutes or less. The hitch fits up nicely under the vehicle and is basically hidden away and unobtrusive. Watch the installation videos beforehand to get an idea of what to do, then... go for it! On our vehicle, the hitch will mainly be used for a bike rack. I would recommend this hitch to anyone looking for a quality hitch and ease of installation! 265847

Awesome heavy duty hitch! I read the numbers and noticed it could hold and tow more then the others, but the price was less. I received it fast with no extra shipping then the normal one they picked at check out, at the time I ordered it was free. I opened the box and it was really nice heavy duty tube frame. It went on like a dream. This is the second vehicle I have installed a hitch on, I ordered both through etrailer and both were great! Both are the Draw-Tite brand. I will not hesitate to buy again through etrailer or tell anyone looking for anything they sell to use them. I have been very happy with everything. It fits, it works, and its of high quality. 307599

This hitch was everything I was hoping for, I pull a lot of stuff, and the ease of installation was beyond. Twenty min. Done! This is for a 2017 Chevy Equinox. The dealer wanted over 500.00 to purchase and install. What a joke! Thanks etrailer you pulled through! 367942

1) Pricing was fantastic 2) Ease of ordering was great. Easy to find which vehicles for fit-up, installation procedures and affiliated wire harnesses 3) Excellent customer service. Order statuses were plentiful, and done personally 4) Product arrived WAY sooner than expected, so even though it was a heavy item, the FREE shipping arrived within days, not weeks. Due to the nature of my situation, timing was critical, as I have lots of stuff to trailer. Product was received yesterday, and installed same day. Installation was a breeze. I saved over $200 by installing myself, rather than going to a business. 244418

I received the product as expected and on time. The nice thing about ordering through etrailer is there is never any guessing on your order status. Prompt emails and follow ups always let you know when your product will be shipped and if anything is on back order. I have had to contact etrailer customer service (because of an error I made) and dealing with Amanda was fantastic. There was no deep accented male named "Becky" answering the call. Amanda was very polite, educated in product knowledge and answered every question without making me feel like it was the dumbest thing she's heard. Thank you etrailer, Paul 10785

Trailer hitch and wiring harness are great quality and easy to install. I had a big problem and it had nothing to do with the parts from eTrailer. My GMC Terrain is about 3 years old and the threads that were in the frame for the bolts were extremely corroded. Getting them clean enough to get the bolts all the in was about a four hour job. If I had a proper brush and known about this condition I could have installed it much quicker. So my advice for anyone installing a trailer hitch in a vehicle other than new is to get the brush eTrailer offers and some penetrating oil. The videos on the website are very helpful too. 316920

This was my second trailer hitch from eTrailer. My first was for a Mercedes-Benz. This on-line order I purchased a Custom fit, Class III, 2" trailer hitch (Draw-Tite) for a GMC Terrain and a wiring harness for the trailer plug. I think the name "Draw-Tite speaks for itself. A very recognizable name. My brag is the service. I was well informed on the order progress. One day turn around on filling the order from "in stock"; prepaid frieght on UPS not on a slow boat from China. Both items shipped on January 3 from Missouri and were delivered in South Carolina on January 5 - mid afternoon. GREAT JOB!!!! 330221

Phoned in order and received very professional attention and technical knowledge from Dana. The hitch arrived for our 2013 GMC Terrain three days after ordering with "free" shipping. I installed in about 30 minutes with the help of a floor jack. The hitch fit like a glove to the frame and all bolt holes lined up. The only issue was the bolt fishing (guide) wires supplied were a bit short. This was easily remedied by duct taping another piece of wire to the fishing wire end. This hitch is heavy duty and exceeded my expectations. I would recommend etrailer.com to all my friends. Thanks, Adrian 178017

Great Company to do Business with. I ordered a Trailer Hitch and wiring from eTrailer. I put in the order online, on Friday and received my Hitch on Monday. Everything was neatly packaged, and in order. The Hitch was a fit for my car and was of good quality. My sales person was named Pat. She knew exactly what I wanted, and was extremely helpful. She was also a very nice person to do business with. This Hitch was less expensive, than anywhere on the Internet. Great people, less expensive, no problems. Thanks Pat, for making this buy, a pleasant one. Thanks etrailer, for the low price. Jack A. 341422

Got my new Draw- tite hitch a few days after it was ordered for my new 2016 Equinox. Installation took about an hour a good part of that time was cleaning out the bolt holes on the car, it had some extra paint in the holes. I pull out my tap set and ran a tap thru all the hole with a little oil on it. This clean them right up and every thing lined up well. Torqued bolts down and installed the lighting harness which was also easy. All the videos and manual on Etrailer helped to get all the tools etc ready ahead of time to make it all go smooth. Very Happy Customer 263742

Delivered promptly, in fine condition. Box was a bit torn, but that can't be helped considering the shape. I had heard horror stories about getting the bolts to come out of the square tube of the car, but using the supplied 'snake', the first one came through on the first try. Fought the second one for 2-3 minutes, but still was not much of a problem. The hitch fit perfectly on my 2017 Equinox, finished the install (2 people) in about 25 minutes. First use will to be to empty a storage unit no longer needed. After that primary use will be pulling a motorcycle. 301487

We love to bike ride and needed a hitch receiver on our new vehicle for the bicycle carrier. I received the item the very next day after ordering it. I watched the video to familiarize myself with the installation steps before attempting to install the hitch receiver on our 2017 Chevy Equinox. Great video!!! I thought no way its that easy. I went out and installed the receiver with absolutely no problem. Perfect custom fit. Great product, great shipping time, great price. We will definitely be ordering from etrailer. com in the future. Thank you so much. 342208

It was an extremely satisfying experience installing this hitch. The installation video on the product page was an excellent resource, and made putting this bad boy on my 2015 Terrain a breeze. I didn't have jack stands or anything, I just used my scissor jack to get the hitch into position and the rest was history. Did it solo in just over 2 hours, counting a ton of fussing around with the jack. If I had a second person to get the nuts on the carriage bolts while I held it in place, we would have been done in an hour or so. Etrailer is the best! 303931

Well built, great finish, heavy duty material. The instructions were pretty clear as how to install, I have never installed one before but the video on the website really helped and it took me less than an hour and I was done. It looks great on the Terrain too. Be sure and get all the hardware in place before you start to tighten any on them, I needed a rubber mallet to re-position a bit to get some of the bolts in place. We plan on using it for bike racks and accessory rack for additional storage when traveling. I think it will work great. 244041

I purchased this product and within a week it was shipped to my house. This install took a round 2 hours to complete and was fairly easy. One thing I would recommend is buying the 1/2 wire tube brush to clean out the threaded holes. I had to really clean mine out along with some WD-40. Then I threaded the holes before the install with the extra 2 bolts provided in the packaging. Other than that, this was a very simple ans straight forward process. I am very happy with my purchase and will most likely buy again from etrailer. 265458

Will be used for a cargo carrier. It fit perfectly. I started installing it alone with the car on 8" blocks. After two hours of cleaning the under cairrage, bolt hole threads, and getting one side hung with the first bolt the other side resting on an over turned bucket,I crawled out from under the car. Called a Grandson to come over for help, 45 min. after his arrival the hitch was on and the car was off the blocks. Stress having help in your instructions, if you are a "know it all old guy" doing the installing. 288294

We liked our 2014 GMC Terrain so much, we purchased a 2017 Terrain too. The e-hitch is for our 2017. The bolt holes and hardware bolted up fine, but you need to bend back the plastic bumper cover to get the hitch in place and push the hitch against the bumper cover to get some bolts to line up. The cover rubs against the hitch. Add a step bumper to the hitch so you can see the end of the car in the back up camera. The hitch and step bumper has saved our 2014 from rear end damage. Good part, great investment. 318065

Hitch didn't fit the first time placing on 2011 Equinox, but after checking mounting brackets, I noticed one side was not at the same angle coming off main square channel. I had to tap with a sledge hammer and then fit perfectly..... also the hardware package did not have any fish wire included even thought it was required for the install... good thing I still had one from previous install! The packaging coming from etrailer (etrailer logo on box exterior) was not sufficient for shipment of this hitch. 51330

New car required a choice of hitches for my bike rack. Since I had found a great hitch at etrailer.com before, I went back to them again. I was pleased that they had a hitch to fit my new Chevy Equinox and that the #1 seller was a Draw Tite hitch, same brand as I had on my old car. The only change I made was to get the Class III hitch to allow me more uses to choose from, other than bike racks. I was not disappointed, this hitch fits perfectly and should be able to make my life easier. 286505

Overall, the installation was not too difficult. I installed on a 2015 Equinox. The pull wires used to snake the bolts through to the center bracket are too short, not even close. I had to extend them about 6-8 inches. The larger block the carriage bolts seat into didn't fit into the hole in the car frame. I had to grind off a little bit so it fit though the hole. The receiver lined up with the existing holes perfectly. I like the look after install. Good sturdy construction. 210439

Nice Draw-tight Hitch and wiring package. Generally I was pleased with it and I installed it relatively quickly. My only nit was the rectangular retainers which fit at the rear just above the hitch connector itself were 1/4 inch too big to fit into the oval slots adjacent to the bolt holes. I had to grind them down. Also had to grind the bolt heads slightly to fit in these same slots. Other than that it went easily. Wiring kit is especially easy to install. 79295

Installed the unit and the lights by myself. While it took a while it can be done. Watched the installation video which I recommend highly. One thing not mentioned was the fact you can align the bolt holes on the side by moving the hitch after the bottom bolts are installed?. Thought there was a problem until this realization hit me. Had trouble applying center bolt due to small access. I had to tape washers up then apply the nuts. All worked out. 367638

  • Can Fascia Door of 2011 GMC Terrain Be Reinstalled Once Hitch is Installed
  • All of the Class III receivers available for your 2012 Terrain are similar in the way they would sit in relation to the rear bumper of the vehicle. The primary difference between the Curt # 13591 and the Draw-Tite # 76028 is that the Draw-Tite model uses two additional connection points into the bottom of the frame member. Although both hitches share the same weight rating, having extra connection points to the vehicle frame is desirable. I would recommend the Draw-Tite Class III receiver,...

Draw-Tite hitch # 76028 does fit your Vue....

What I suggest is installing a hitch on the Terrain, the Draw-Tite # 76028 which is shown in the linked installation video, and in it using an RV-approved 2-bike hitch rack, the cost-effective and lightweight Vee Me # VME-V2. This hitch/rack combination is less costly than most options and it offers certain advantages....
