Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

While the hitch appears to be built very solidly, I am disappointed in the quality of the powder coated finish. The product was received with multiple chips in the powder coating. Also, the weight label was applied crooked resulting in a very sloppy appearance. Now, instead of installing my hitch today, I have to research the best way to protect the exposed metal. It's unreasonable to have to repair a product straight out of the box.

I am so sorry about the damage to your hitch. Customer Service will be reaching out to you as soon as possible.

The hitch came with chipped powder coat out of the box. Not from shipping because it was already rusted. etrailer reimbursed me xx dollars to purchase a bottle of spray paint and do it myself... Just a bit disappointed. I paid for a new hitch not one that can potentially rust more in the future. This is the 2nd hitch for a 2nd vehicle within the year -first one was flawless. The hitch itself fit well. Bumper gap was a bit larger than I like. Bike rack bottomed out on a not so steep driveway my lowered 2004 wrx had no issues with

Great hitch and my 2014 Camry SE did not require any trimming. I installed this myself with ease. I used a jack and a piece of 2x4 and the hitch balanced perfectly on the wood and I was able to maneuver it into position without a problem. Shipping was great. One trick, leave the fish wire on until after you get the hitch up to the car to ensure the bolt doesn’t go up into the frame rail. Everything took less than 2 hours and was very simple.

Overall this was a easy process. Great price and quick shipping. Videos on etrailer were very helpful. My only complaint is the stickers on the hitch. The weight label was poorly applied and really sticks out.

2015 Toyota Avalon

It arrived in good condition. All parts were in the box even if it was the wrong wiring harness. It was for a 2013 Avalon and mine is a 2015 with no battery in the trunk. I know the garage owner can redirect the wiring. However, I probably would have done it myself. I am am thankful for your delivery and store. Over the many years, I have purchased 4 hitches from you. Also, the hitch instructions were for a 2014 Avalon and not a 2015. We will get along, I trust.

Comments
This hitch fits a 2013 - 2018 Toyota Avalon so the instructions are accurate. The install would be the same. I recommend to take a look at the installation videos for reference, they are very helpful.

Installation was easy. Lucky for me on my 2012 Camry SE no trimming of any panel was necessary as the stock one that came on my camry only covered the spare tire compartment. I am the original owner so I can confirm this is the way it came.

2017 Toyota Camry

I got a new 2017 Camry and an avid cyclist. Before getting the hitch, I would have to take apart my wheels just to fit it in the trunk. This got old and annoying really quick. I found the Draw-tite trailer receiver hitch on etrailer.com. I made sure it would fit and got it. I had my local mechanic shop install it watching the video vs the manual, because that was confusing. It fit perfectly flushed and clean. I put a hitch mounted bike rack and now my life is that much happier!

I love how convenient it is for hauling my bikes. It definitely beats having a roof rack.

Hitch fit my Toyota Avalon hybrid perfectly. Instructions were very good. Installing required a second person to help hold the hitch and a good jackstand to elevate the rear of the car. Total time was about two hours for installment. Overall very pleased with the results

Holding up well after 1 year. Install was a breeze with simple hand tools, a drill, and a stepped drill bit I picked up Install video showed the guy cutting a giant hole in the plastic cover under the rear bumper. I cut mine to be flush against the hitch receiver for a cleaner looking install.

The hitch has worked fine, I have used it on a long distances trip and several shorter ones with any problems. It is a little work to install but that is to be expected. There is a instructions Video on the website to watch on instillation, you can watch before you buy it. I would have gave 5 stars but it had came through the shipping package and knocked some paint off, but didn’t effect the performance.

2012 Toyota Camry

etrailer delivered everything quickly and the instructions were very good. Installed this on my 2012 Camry to carry a bike rack only, so this hitch was perfect since it doesn't include a ball mount or ball. Figuring out how to drill the one inch holes in each frame rail was the hardest part - there are not a lot of metal bits that big available - my solution was to use a Harbor Freight #96275 step drill. All in all a great experience with etrailer.

2017 Toyota Prius

Fast delivery and excellent customer service...Received an email upon delivery as follow up for assistance. Installation video very helpful. This was a one person self-install on a 2017 Camry, did not find the enclosed installation instructions very helpful. No lift for my install, done at ground level so managing hitch positioning a bit tricky using jacks. So, suggestion for 1 man installation- *Produce a video showing lift jack placement and hacks to lift/secure hitch ( i used 2 hydraulic jacks) in position for drilling (if needed) and screwing into existing transport bracket threaded holes. *Make it very clear passenger side exhaust bracket holes used for hitch unlike drivers side which uses the transport bracket holes. It can be tricky aligning the hitch with the holes. I have a Prius as well and the hitch (for bikes) much simpler install w/no drilling

Comments
Hitch works as expected. Trailer wiring much more challenging due to no lift attempting to route power wire from battery to rear 2 wire converter.

I am a 52 year old female 5 feet tall and 120 lbs and I installed this product on my 2014 Camry SE V6 with dual exhaust and I did it alone with the help of a 1/2 ton jack and some ramps. I used the jack to hold the exhaust and then to raise it back up to refasten it. This was so easy to do and I couldn’t be happier. I also installed the wiring to lights and ran it through the inside of vehicle and then through the firewall. Great product.

  • How To Use Draw-Tite Hitch for 2012 Toyota Camry with 2 Inch Bike Rack
The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 36540 which is a fit for a 2012 Toyota Camry has a 1-1/4" receiver tube opening . If you have a bike rack with a 2" shank then you'll need to use a 1-1/4" to 2" hitch adapter, the MaxxTow Trailer Hitch Receiver Adapter part # MT70032 or part # MT70355. Please note, adapters do reduce the hitch capacity by 50%.
