Question:
We have a hitch mounted bike rack for our 2005 Avalon and would like to also use it for our new 2013 Hybrid Avalon. Can that be done? The manual says a hitch is not recommended.

For your 2005 Toyota Avalon Hybrid you can use Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 36540. I have included a link to the installation instructions to the right for you.
If the owners manual says a hitch is not recommended then to me that means you can still install one but only use it for accessories like bike racks. However it would be a good idea to run that by Toyota just to be on the safe side.
I am not sure which bike rack you have but as long as it fits a 1-1/4 inch receiver you can use it with this Draw-Tite hitch.
