Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Video Transcript for Trailer Hitch Installation - 2018 Toyota Corolla - Draw-Tite

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Toyota Corolla, you're going to be taking a look at . I'm going to show you how to install the Draw-Tite Class I Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number 24913. This is what our hitch looks like when it's installed. As you can see, the cross tube is visible. However, it has a round tube design, so it fits nicely with the contour of the vehicle. Receiver tube is gonna sit nice and flush with the bumper fascia or the edge of the bumper fascia so you're not gonna have to worry about hitting you legs on it too much when you're loading and unloading the vehicle. This hitch is gonna be an 1-1/4" by 1-1/4".

Hitch pin hole is gonna be 1/2" in diameter. The safety chain loops has a ring style, so it's gonna fit different size safety chain hooks fairly nicely. You can see it's nice and open. You're gonna have a 200 pound max tongue weight, which is the downward pressure on the inside of the receiver tube. You're gonna have a 2,000 pound max trailer weight, which is the trailer plus the load included.

However, I do recommend checking your owner's manual to make sure your vehicle can withstand that amount of weight. You're gonna want to pick the lowest number between the vehicle and the hitch. As far as the installation goes, this is a very simple installation. I do recommend getting an extra pair of hands to help lift the hitch into place while you get a couple bolts in place to hold it up. Let me give you a few measurements to help you when deciding on any hitch mounted accessories you may need such as a bike rack, or cargo carrier. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the outermost part of the bumper will be about 2-1/2".

From the ground to the top innermost part of the receiver tube will be about 11".It's a good idea to get a raised shank for better ground clearance. Now let's show you how to get this installed. First thing you need to do to start your installation is you need to get the back of your car up in the air a little bit. It's not necessary to get it up in the air, it's just gonna make it a lot easier. So if you have ramps, it's better to back it up on some ramps.

Make sure you chock your front wheels in the front and the back of the tire so your vehicle doesn't roll. We have it up on lifts to make it a little bit easier for you to see at home, so you can see exactly what we're doing.A couple of things the instructions say is one, this appearance panel needs to come down. It's not necessary. This does not need to come down for this hitch. It's not gonna get in the way of it. The second thing is if you have a tow hook that's attached on the frame rail, that will have to come off and will not be going back on. You're gonna get four hex bolts in your kit, and you're gonna get four conical tooth washers. Conical tooth washer is gonna have teeth on it. You want to make sure that those teeth are facing away from the head of the bolt and they're gonna go up towards the hitch.Even though this is a 2018, I do suggest taking some lubricant and spraying out your holes and taking a tube brush and cleaning out the threads. We're gonna do that with the other two on the other side. Nice with an extra set of hands. We'll set our hitch into place. We're gonna use the back two holes in our frame. Again, you want to make sure the conical tooth washer is facing up towards the hitch. We'll get one in each side to hold our hitch in place while we install the rest of the hardware.Next we'll take a 3/4" socket and tighten all of our hardware and repeat that same process for the other side. Next we'll take our torque wrench and we're gonna torque all the hardware to the specifications in the instructions. You're gonna repeat that process for all hardware. That'll do it for a look at an installation on the Draw-Tite Class I Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number 24913 on our 2018 Toyota Corolla.

The trailer hitch I just bought from etrailer was my third one for three different vehicles. This one like the other two was a perfect fit! The wiring harness worked beautifuly as always. I will recommend etrailer.com to everyone. The entire process was great! Thanks, John D. Parker, Hoover, Alabama 200610

Excellent, sturdy product at a good price with super fast shipping. Watch the video where the installer sprays the holes with penetrating oil or lubricant. The threads on my car were rough and rusted and this helped a lot. I did the side by the muffler with a tire qrench to muscle it in. 570907

Easy 5 minute install by myself. Looks great. Fits perfectly. When locked down with bikes on my rack there is zero wobble or movement at the connection or any other point with this set up. Rock solid with my Saris bike rack. 390754

Two minor issues: 1) A Toyota problem: needed to buy a tap to fix one of the 4 threaded mounting holes. 2) The hitch had a punched detent in the rectangular tube part which put limits on how far the bicycle rack would insert. Had to drill and file out. Didn't have one on my previous Drawtite. Otherwise the product is built to last. 430994

On a class 1 hitch like the # 24913
Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4"
$119.03
there is a welded tab on the inside of the receiver to ensure that the user is only using Class 1 accessories in the hitch as a safety precaution. The # 24913
Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4"
$119.03
can only handle 200 lbs TW and is therefore limited to carrying 2 bikes on a bike rack. Filing or removing this tab will void your warranty and could cause damage to your accessory. I recommend a class 1 compatible bike rack such as Thule part # TH912XTR
Thule Roadway 2 Bike Rack - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Tilting
$259.01
. The Thule roadway part # TH912XTR features levers that let you fold down the arms for storage and tilt the rack away from your vehicle for cargo area access. The rack also includes an anti-rattle hitch pin.

Glad to have a top quality Draw-Tite hitch from etrailer on my '17 Toyota Corolla SE (with a six-speed MANUAL transmission. Ohh yeah!) Some notes about the installation. The plastic cover plate below the trunk well would not come off. Those darned 12mm nuts could not be removed. No matter. The hitch can be installed with that cover plate in place. From heaving the hitch up off my chest to the frame and getting the first bolt threaded to torquing down the last blue threadlock-covered bolt in place, doing the job by myself, about a half hour. One thing that concerns me about the hitch is that it covers the pin hole that Toyota put on that car. There is an upside down cup with a pin sticking up adapter that fits on the head of my floor jack. This adapter is used to jack up the rear of this car. With the hitch covering that hole, the hitch itself is the rear jack point. I hope this is not a problem. Sometimes I have to question why automobile engineers design things the way they do. All in all, a great hitch value from etrailer. 528628

This hitch got delivered quickly, along with the wiring harness and ball mount I ordered. It's readily apparent that these are now designed and built with the aid of computers: The hitch fit absolutely perfectly, and hugged the contour (fit) of the car very closely. I ordered the wrong ball mount-please don't laugh!!!! (Jena helped me out and the right one got delivered today.) 147390

Fantastic product. Fit my 2011 Toyota Corolla perfectly. Amazing customer service. Maybe one of the best customer service companies I've interacted with. Online instructions on how to install and thorough comparisons between the different hitches. Even a recommendation for which cargo loader would be appropriate! I installed this hitch on my own in about 20 minutes. Took another 30 minutes to assemble and install my cargo carrier. All finished under an hour with just a socket wrench. I'll be using this to haul my things on a cross country trip. Also, planning on using it to move my bike around since it won't cause as much wind resistance as the roof car racks and those were super expensive and easily stolen. 394893

  • Trailer Hitch, Wiring Harness and Ball Mount Recommendation for 2018 Toyota Corolla
I took a look at an online copy of the owner's manual for a 2018 Toyota Corolla and it simply states that towing a trailer is not recommended with the vehicle so the decision will ultimately be up to you. If you do decide to use your '18 Corolla to pull your jet ski you will need a trailer hitch, wiring harness, ball mount and hitch ball. The trailer hitch I highly recommend for your '18 Corolla is the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 24913 because it is a bolt-on installation that will not...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch and Wiring for 2017 Toyota Corolla
In order to tow a 5x8 trailer from U-Haul with your 2017 Toyota Corolla, you will need a trailer hitch, wiring harness, and ball mount. Starting with the trailer hitch, I recommend the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24913. This Class I hitch is confirmed to fit your Corolla and will use existing holes in the vehicle's frame for a no-drill installation. It features a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening and a towing weight capacity of 2,000 pounds. I highly recommend checking the...

With this hitch, I recommend the Swagman XC 2-Bike Rack Platform Style # S64650. To secure your bikes and the rack, I also recommend the Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock and Cable for Swagman Bike Racks w/ 1-1/4" & Combo Shanks - 7' # S64031. This combination will safely transport your bikes with no vehicle body contact.

2 inch hitches are only available for vehicles with higher capacities like trucks and SUVs. For your 2006 Toyota Corolla there is only 1-1/4 inch hitches available like the # 24913. Using a hitch adapter is not recommended either as that reduces capacity and introduces a lot of movement to the setup. Best option is new rack honestly. • Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendations for a 2016 Toyota Corolla
For your 2016 Toyota Corolla I recommend Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 24913. It does not require a strap to use a bike rack. Once installed the hitch will be approximately 9-1/2 inches up from the ground. But, since the hitch is positioned at the end of the vehicle, you would have to be at a very severe angle for the hitch to make contact with the ground. And if you go with a bike rack with a rise in the shank, such as the Trail Rider # HR200Z which has a rise in the shank, the bike rack...

  • Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendation for 2019 Toyota Corolla
For your 2019 Toyota Corolla the Draw Tite hitch part # 24913 is the hitch I recommend as it does not require a stabilizer strap when carrying a non-supported load like a bike rack like the Curt requires. For a bike rack I really like the Saris Freedom Superclamp part # SA4025F. This is a platform bike rack that only touches the bike at the tires and only weighs 30 lbs. You are correct, the Curt and Draw-Tite receiver hitches all look very similar and also offer the same weight capacities. Failure to properly support these loads will void your hitch warranty from Curt. The Draw-Tite brand does not require...

For a hitch to carry a bike rack with your 2013 Toyota Corolla the Draw Tite # 24913 is the way to go since it does not require a stabilizer strap when carrying a non-supported load like the Curt does. • Troubleshooting Included Bolts Too Big to Install Trailer Hitch on Vehicle
The issue you described in your question is actually not too uncommon, especially on vehicles that have seen a few winters. I did verify that the M12 x 1.25 bolts are the correct size for installing the Curt Trailer Hitch # C11265 on your 2015 Toyota Corolla. When using a bike rack, the Class I hitches are recommended to only carry 2 bikes because of the torque the extra weight has on the hitch due to the extension of the weight not simply the weight itself. According to the '07 Corolla's owners manual, the towing capacity of the vehicle is 1,500 lbs, which is why there are no Class II hitches available. The Class I Draw-Tite has a 2,000 lbs towing capacity and 200 lbs tongue weight capacity, and if you were looking to tow, you would need to add a 4-flat connector # 55542 as well as drawbar # 3593, which comes with...

  • What Size Fasteners are Used to Install a Draw Tite Hitch on a 2010 Toyota Corolla
The bolts included with the hitch # 24913 are M12-1.25x30 mm. Most likely you have the correct hardware and the weld nuts just need further cleaning. Cleaning weldnuts out on a vehicle in order to install a trailer hitch takes a lot of time and elbow grease. Basically the weldnuts may appear to be clean but getting all of the grime out can take longer than you might think. Make sure you are use a lubricant like WD-40 or PB Blaster. Check out he video and FAQ article I attached to...

  • Does Draw-Tite Class I Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24913 Include Ball Mount, Pin and Clip
You are correct that the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24913 includes a ball mount, hitch pin and clip. The Curt hitch # C11265 includes the pin and clip, but not the ball mount. Please note that the availability of hitches for any given vehicle does not necessarily mean that vehicle can tow a trailer. I was not able to verify any tow rating for your Corolla. Your owners manual or local Toyota dealership should be able to offer clarification of the vehicles capacities. All...

  • Towing Capacity, Trailer Hitch and Wiring for a 2013 Toyota Corolla
I checked the owner's manual for the 2013 Toyota Corolla. It states that the maximum gross trailer weight the vehicle can tow is 1,500 pounds if the trailer has brakes or 1,000 pounds if the trailer does not have brakes. But only for models with a 2.4 liter motor. At 1,200 pound you are under that 1,500 pound limit for a trailer with brakes. But towing will put additional stress on the vehicle. For a trailer hitch I recommend # C11265. The recommended ball mount is # C45521. For a 1-7/8...

  • Will Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch 24814 From 2012 Toyota Corolla Fit 2016 Corolla
I was able to look up your trailer hitch order from etrailer.com for your 2012 Toyota Corolla and found that the hitch you purchased is the Draw-Tite Sportframe Class I Trailer Hitch Receiver 24814. While some of the hitches from the 2012 Corolla are fits for the 2016 model, unfortunately the 24814 trailer hitch is not confirmed to fit the 2016 Toyota Corolla. For your 2016 Corolla, I recommend the Draw-Tite Sportframe Class I Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24913. I like this hitch because,...

  • Best Bike Rack Options For A 2009 Toyota Corolla S
I do have several options available for you to consider. The only type of bike rack that would possibly interfere with a spoiler on your 2009 Toyota Corolla S is a trunk mounted bike rack. Therefore, I recommend you use a roof mounted bike rack or a hitch mounted bike rack. The hitch mounted bike rack will not contact the vehicle's body in any way in addition to providing access to the rear cargo area while installed so this will be your best option. For a hitch mounted bike rack, I...

  • Trailer Hitch Fit for 2017 Toyota Corolla
The problem is that all of the hitches for your 2017 Toyota Corolla are Class I hitches which have very low capacities and the trike carriers we offer are only a fit for Class II and up hitches due to the capacity required. For a hitch you would want the part # 24913 which is a confirmed fit but you would need to look into a trailer or a different vehicle for transporting the trike. I attached a video for this hitch for you to check out as well.

  • Recommendation for Transporting Bikes with a 2014 Toyota Corolla
It is always advised to follow the towing recommendations of the manufacturer of a vehicle, failure to do so can void vehicle warranties. That being said we do carry hitches for your 2014 Toyota Corolla like the Draw Tite Hitch part # 24913. I attached an install video for you to check out as well. Another option for transporting bikes that doesn't require a hitch is a trunk mounted bike rack like the Thule Raceway Bike Rack part # TH9001PRO that has been confirmed to fit your vehicle. What...
