Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Video Transcript for Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Installation - 2017 Nissan Sentra

Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Nissan Sentra, we're gonna be installing Draw Tite's 00:00:02 Class One, 1 1/4 inch trailer hitch receiver, part number 24907.And this is what our hitch is gonna look like when it's installed. You are gonna be able to see the cross tube and the receiver here, but over all, it's tucked back far enough to where you won't really notice it.It's a Class One, 1 1/4 by 1 1/4 inch receiver, so it's gonna be great for bike racks, cargo carriers, and extremely light towing. It features hoop style safety chain loops and has a nice large opening, so it should accommodate just about any style safety chain. It uses a half inch hitch pinning clip. One of these doesn't come included with the hitch, but you can pick one up here at e-Trailer.com with part number PC2.It features a 200 pound tongue weight. That's the force going down on top of the receiver. And a 2000 pound gross towing capacity.

That's how much that it can pull behind it. Now you do want to check your vehicle's owner's manual and make sure that you're not exceeding its towing capacities. Now I've got some measurements for you to help you when deciding on accessories. From the ground to the top inside edge of the receiving tube, it's about 9 3/4 inches. This is important when deciding if you need a raised shank on any of your accessories. And from the center of the hitch pin hole to the edge of the rear bumper, it measures about six inches. This is important when determining if any of your folding accessories can be placed in the upright storage position without contacting the bumper. We'll begin our installation by raising our hitch into position.

Then we'll take one of the bolts with the large spacer. We're gonna slide our spacer on the bolt, slide that down through our tow hook, and then thread a nut on it. This will hold our hitch out, making it easier to make the marks we need to draw our holes. Now hold your hitch up. We'll line up our back hole with the hole that already exists, and we'll need to mark out the front hole so we can drill it out. You can now take your hitch back down. We'll now make a pilot hole in the center where we marked.

We're using a 1/8 inch drill bit to make this pilot hole. Okay. Now we'll enlarge the hole, using a 7/16 drill bit. We'll now enlarge this back hole with a one inch drill bit. Now take the fish wire provided in your kit. Go up through the front most hole and feed it down through our enlarged hole.

Now slide on one of the spacers and thread on one of the carriage bolts. We'll push the spacer up into the frame and then push our carriage bolt up into the frame and pull the bolt down. We'll then do the same thing for our rear most hole. You could now lift your hitch back into position. Place your fish wire down through. Now the carriage bolts that we just pushed down, take your fish wire off of those. Slide on a large conical tooth washer, followed by a nut. We'll do the same thing with our other carriage bolt. Now slide one of the small conical tooth washers under your smaller bolts, with the teeth facing away from the head of the bolt. You're gonna come on the back side, between your bumper and the vehicle frame and push the bolt through. You'll then line that up with your hitch and thread out one of the lock nuts. We'll then do the same thing for the other hole. We can now reinstall our hardware through our tow hook. Then we'll place our conical tooth washer facing up towards the hitch, followed by one of the larger nuts. Now tighten on your small hardware with a 9/16 socket wrench. And you'll tighten the rest of your hardware with an 11/16 socket. Now torque all of your hardware to the specifications in your instructions. And that completes our installation of Draw Tite's Class One, 1 1/4 inch trailer hitch receiver on our 2017 Nissan Sentra.

Used for a year with a bike rack for 2 bikes. Have bottomed out a couple of times but still tight and good finish. No salt ever on roads where used. Very good quality and mounting instructions 691404

2018 Nissan Sentra

Just finished installing the Draw Tite hitch on my 2018 Sentra SV. It fits alright but there's a bit of a gap between the mounting tab and the tow "hook" after installation. I torqued it as much as I was comfortable with but there is still somewhat of a space and I didn't want to break anything. It won't pose a problem with my bike carrier application but for towing I'd install a spacer between the hitch mounting tab and tow hook to get a proper fit and torque. I still may install a spacer for peace of mind but that nut won't loosen with the amount of torque and "spring" tension created. I just watched the install video again and the 2018 Sentra model does have a different configuration than the 2017 in the video. And yes, I did paint the hitch and 1 coat so far on the hardware for the northeast rust conditions. The etrailer team did a great job answering my questions in a timely courteous manner, thanks! 619152

This hitch is a great value. If you are looking for a hitch for a Nissan Sentra I highly suggest buying it. Order the wiring kit with along with it. You can have everything installed in a few hours. Shipping was very quick and customer service was on top of things. Thank you Jeorge. 556102

When installed according to instructions provided, my 2017 Nissan Sentra's tail pipe/exhaust touches the trailer hitch frame, causing a loud vibration. I have been told that this is a design flaw and I would suggest that you consider addressing the situation. 553581

What you describe is a common occurrence, and luckily theres a very easy fix.The exhaust system at the rear of the car is attached to the vehicle using rubber isolators and easily bendable exhaust hangers. Because of this, the actual position of the exhaust system can vary a bit from vehicle to vehicle. When the hitch is installed, its position will NOT vary from vehicle to vehicle. The large tolerances in the exhaust system is what can allow the rattle to occur. In other words, its not a design issue. Youll just need to create a bit more space between the hitch and the exhaust. As I mentioned, this is a common occurrence that is easily remedied by slightly bending the exhaust hanger. Ive linked you to a help article that addresses how to easily fix the rattle.

In my initial order i was not aware that the insert ball mount was not included - Mr. Zack or myself did not talk in regards to the ball mount one way or the other during the taking of the order- so of course it was disappointing not to see it when my order arrived - Mr. Zack was very professional in taking my order -- Mr. Zack was not available when i called to resolve the ball mount problem -- Matthew C. handled and resolved the problem to my being very satisfied -- The trailer hitch looks great on the car - when i can i will send a picture - Thank You - 141740

Ask the Experts about this Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch

Do you have a question about this Trailer Hitch?

  • Best Trailer Hitch for Hauling a Bike Rack With a 2016 Nissan Sentra
  • Although the Curt Hitch # C11349 that you mentioned is a good option, I recommend installing the Draw-Tite Hitch # 24907. The Curt hitch requires you to use a support or stabilizing strap, like part # 18050, with all non-trailer loads, like bike racks and cargo carriers. Not using the strap will void your warranty. Draw-Tite does not have that requirement for their hitches which is why I default to that hitch instead of the Curt. The Draw-Tite hitch has a Max Gross Trailer Weight of...

  • Why Is 2016 Nissan Sentra SR Model Not Compatible With Trailer Hitch Receiver?
  • Both the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24907 and the Curt # C11349 exclude the SR model. I reached out my contact at Curt and found out that the reason they are excluded is because of excess trim and an exhaust rattle. They don't have anything in the works for a compatible hitch. The modifications to make it work would include trimming portions of your fascia and doing some exhaust modification. If you are willing to do some customization, my contact said you can make...

  • Does the Draw Tite Hitch # 24907 Require Drilling for Installation on a 2015 Nissan Sentra
  • Yes, the installation of the Draw-Tite Class I hitch # 24907 on your 2015 Nissan Sentra DOES require drilling. All hitch options for your vehicle (as long as it is NOT the SR version) can be seen on the link provided. The Curt # C11349 is the one that does not require drilling but it may require some enlarging of the frame access holes with a rotary tool or file. The written instructions and a helpful hitch installation article are linked for you. If you plan to use a bike rack in your...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch and Wiring for 2017 Nissan Sentra
  • For your 2017 Nissan Sentra, I recommend the Draw-Tite Class I Sport Frame Receiver Hitch # 24907. This Class I hitch is confirmed to fit your vehicle as long as you do not have the SR model. I recommend this over the Curt alternative because unlike Curt, Draw-Tite does not require you to use additional stabilizing straps for non-trailer loads, such as bike racks and cargo carriers. We have not yet had a chance to install this on your 2017 Nissan Sentra, so we do not currently have...

  • Trailer Hitch And Cargo Carrier Recommendation For Quickee Wheelchair On 2015 Nissan Sentra
  • The trailer hitches we offer for your Sentra are Class l hitches like part # 24907, which fits all Sentras except SR models and have a limited weight capacity. This is a Class l hitch and it has a 1-1/4 receiver opening. One carrier we offer is the Surco Cargo Carrier, part # 52017. This carrier is a 20 x 48 steel carrier amd weighs 40 lbs. This carrier would be able to handle a collapsible wheelchair.

  • Installation of a Trailer Hitch on 2016 Nissan Sentra SL
  • A trailer hitch is a great option for your 2016 Nissan Sentra if you are worried about mounting a clamp-on roof rack. As for the installation, neither process is going to be overwhelming as long as you are comfortable with a drill and torque wrench. The biggest difference is that the Curt # C11349 will require you to temporarily remove your rear fascia, though you won't have to drill your own mounting holes like you do with the Draw-Tite # 24907. I've attached links to the installation...

  • Does the Draw Tite Hitch part # 24907 Require Drilling to Install on a 2013 Nissan Sentra
  • Yes, the Draw Tite Hitch part # 24907 that you referenced does require a little bit of drilling to install. For more info on the installation of this hitch check out the link I attached for the instructions. For a similar hitch that doesn't require drilling that is confirmed to fit your vehicle you would want the Curt Hitch part # C11349.

However, you may want to consider the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4" # 24907 which is also a confirmed fit because it does not require the stabilization strap # 18050 that the Curt trailer hitch receiver requires when using an accessory like a bike rack. • I am not certain what trailer hitch you have on your 2014 Nissan Sentra but the Curt Cargo Carrier # C18100 you referenced will only fit 2 inch trailer hitch receivers. This is an issue because the only hitches available for a '14 Sentra are Class I hitches with 1-1/4 inch receivers. It is likely you actually have a Class I hitch with a 1-1/4 inch receiver like the Draw-Tite # 24907 and I strongly recommend making sure you know the exact hitch on your Sentra. • Will the Draw-Tite Sportframe # 24794 Fit a 2018 Nissan Sentra
  • We do have a trailer hitch that is confirmed as a fit for your 2018 Nissan Sentra but the Draw-Tite Sportframe # 24794 only fits Nissan Sentra models from 2007-2012. For your 2018 you need the Draw-Tite Sportframe # 24907 instead. You will also need wiring # 118582, a draw bar like part # 3593, and a hitch ball like 1-7/8" part # 19256 or 2" part # 19258. Be sure to follow any instructions in your owner's manual regarding towing with your vehicle.
