Today on our 2008 Dodge Durango, well be installing Curt Hitch part number 13296. Now, before we begin our installation here are a few measurements to help you when selecting accessories such as a draw bar, a bike rack or a cargo carrier. From the center of the hitch pin hole to outer most part of the bumper looks about even and from the top of the receiver tube to the ground measures 21 inches.Now, lets go ahead with our install. To begin our installation well go ahead and remove the spare tire from the vehicle. With our spare tire out of the way, underneath the vehicle here we will point out our attachment points. On the driver side we will be using these two bolts here which are connected together as well as this bolt here forward of those two.
This will be the same on both the driver side as well as the passenger side.Well now go ahead and undo the nuts from those three bolts. On the forward most bolt here, when we remove the nut well set it off to the side for re-installation later. When we remove the two nuts here on the rear most fasteners we can then remove both bolts and set them off to the side as they will not be reused. On the two rear most fasteners well take the long 00:01:07 bolt and the washer. Slide the washer onto the bolt and slide the bolt through one of the two holes that we removed the two bolts from earlier.With that bolt in we will go ahead and put the other bolt in making sure that our flat washer is on the bolt first.
Now, we want these bolts to protrude out the holes on the other side just slightly. Once thats done, well repeat this same procedure on the passenger side.Now that we have that done, we are ready to put our hitch into position. It would be a good idea to get an extra set of hands to help you hold the hitch up while you install the remaining hardware. Now, with our hitch in position well go ahead and push the bolts through, making sure they go through the spacer blocks through our hitch bracket. Well do that for all six fasteners on both sides of the vehicle.Now that we have all the bolts through we can take the two new flange nuts, put them onto the new bolts here on the rear most fasteners and well reuse the nut that we took off earlier here on this bolt on our forward fastener.
Well do this on both sides of the vehicle where we can now tighten them down and torque them at specification as indicated in the instructions. With all our hardware torqued to specifications, well re-install our spare which will complete our installation of Curt Hitch part number 13296 on our 2008 Dodge Durango. .

very easy to install, looks good and dies what it was designed to do. It hasn't seen much weather or miles yet so time will tell if the paint holds up.
2009 dodge durangoI purchased this hitch and the wiring kit and it was at my house within a week. It was super easy to install with the right tools. It looks nice and I am very happy with the durability and price I paid. The wiring kit was great. I had a wiring mechanic install it and he said he will recommended this kit to all his customers. Way to go etrade.

Easy to install. No bracket for the trailer plug and one of the six spacers was missing.

The trailer connector bracketry is sold separately. Ill have one of our Customer Service folks contact you as soon as possible regarding the missing spacer.
Product was described perfectly and easy to install. Video provided on the website made it simple. Had to make a minor adjustment with tailpipe to avoid contact and potential damage to hitch. Not a big deal. E-Trailer's price, service and shipping was awesome. I researched the web and local trailer stores and found them to be the best by a wide margin.
The item was it was boxed in was damaged in multiple areas. Items was missing, nuts and washers and bolts.
Requested a refund already.

Of the two available hitches for an 09 Dodge Durango this was the most heavy duty. Installed it myself with no problem. Pulled a [moving] trailer with a M/C 1600 miles with no problem. Bolts solid to the frame so also provides great rear end protection if rear ended.
Not so bad...This hitch is for those that want to do it themselves in the driveway/garage. NO drilling, just need WD40, a LONG socket wrench/breaker bar, and a bucket or a wife willing to help. Check out the online video's if necessary, remember 2004+ Durangos are all built the same underneath basically.
This hitch is POSITIONED UNDER the bumper and not in the notch that is available, the other type of hitch that requires drilling/cutting and bumper removal to install fits there (much harder to install yourself).
Over all i am happy, it does the job, but what i don't like is the exhaust now blows into the hitch, sounds different now... and of course i wish it had fit in the notch to make it look uniform.
Perfect Fit. Easy InstallationI bought this hitch because I didnt want to pay over $200 for one from the dealership. Installation was very easy. Perfect fit. All the hardware was top quality. Total install time was about 1.5 hours, which is longer than would be necessary because I didn't have the right tools to remove the large bolts. If you have a half inch drive socket set, you are set. This hitch does stick out below the bumper where the factory hitch does not, but the round tube style looks good. Excellent service from etrailer as well.
I had someone install the hitch for me. I do not think he had any problems. He also installed the wiring harness for me. It was all done in one day. It looks great and is serviceable.

This tow package fits perfect easy install was done in 20mins and had help from etrailer with which wiring was for the truck. For install use outside nuts inside bolts don't move. And make sure to use new bolt old bolts don't line up in rear. Single bolt infront still use and don't pull it out all the way. If you do its very hard to get back in.
Product was as advertised, easy install with 2 people. Watching the installation video before I purchased was a major factor why I purchased this hitch. I would definitely recommend this product to others who want to install their own hitch.
Good solid unit however have to make sure your muffler has the proper clearance or it will rub against one another after installation.
Easy to install in 30 minutes, will come in handy to use on my hunting trips to go along with my carrier and pull my Atv trailer.
The product worked great. Installation was simple enough and can be done with one person although I would recommend a second.
Dissapointedshipping was great.The hitch hangs below the bumper and I was hoping it would be more uniform to bumper.My wife is not happy with that.It still looks like it would tow anything though.Installation was hard and I consider myself pretty handy.Im am self employed contractor and have been doing things myself all my life.
The hitch shipped on time. And with help from my sun and 8 year old grandson we had it in about one hour. The fit was right on. And it looks good on 2009 Dodge Durango.
This was one of the easiest applications I have ever done. I am use to having to drill holes out bigger to make it fit. No drilling or even adjusting, they have this all figured out.

Easy to installInstallation took me a little longer than advertised, but the directions were very straight forward. My tailpipe had to have about half and inch removed from the tip.
