Got the job done and done well! If I remember correctly (this was a year ago) there was one part during installation that wasn’t lined up right on my ‘03 Subaru WRX. But i was able to install and got where I needed to go so all was good

by:

Was not lined up on bolt holes, had to heat and bend to fit. Other than that it works well.

2005 Subaru WRX
I've installed hitches
from trailers for customers multiple times, decided to give it a shot for myself. As expected, everything lines up perfectly. My hitch did not come with new bolts or a hitch pin, some do. Overall 5/5 for faster than expected delivery

by:

Great buy and easy install on my 2005 WRX Wagon. Helps to have a second set of hands to help clear the exhaust/bumper and get things aligned.

I tow a kayak trailer around every weekend, and this hitch is perfect for the job.

by:
2006 Subaru Impreza

Ordered the drawtite brand first, then found out it wasn't going to be in stock for another month or two. Spoke with customer service and they changed my order to the Curt brand which arrived within a week of calling. Installed it the next day with no issues. Fitment was perfect and only took me about an hour to install. Product seems strong and built to last.

A very good product with clear instructions.

I
would suggest watching the videos on the website a few times. They have been well done.

Also to use a lift or ramps so you can work underneath the vehicle.

There was a bit of fiddling to get the tow hitch to fit but nothing major. The whole job was done in an hour.

I would also suggest another pair of hands.

I will be recommending this company for my business - I sell trailers and customers can order their hitches from etrailer.

Excellent Purchase experience -beyond expectation. I was given reliable purchase advice, from knowledgeable staff -rare these days. Good prices on a hard to find item. Delivery arrived 3 days sooner than expected. Can't do better than that. (And I am a critical purchaser)

by:

The install took minutes! Great fitment on my JDM wrx. It enabled me to tow my jet ski with no issues whatsoever. 10/10, would recommend

by:

I have not tested out the hitch but installation went ok. The only issue was the holes for the driver side did not line up. Must be a common issue because others [online] had the same issue. Not a big deal. Had to use a sledgehammer to get it straight. Took me quite a while to put on because I live in rust valley so bolts were a challenged to take out.

by:

Bolted right in only took 30 minutes to install. It is very strong and not too noticeable.

What a pain to install. It’s nice to have a hitch on my car though

  • Towing Capacity For 2007 Subaru Impreza WRX
Per the instructions for the Curt Hitch, part # C11497, which is a Class l hitch, the tow hooks (referred to as tie-down brackets) are removed and are not reinstalled on your 2007 Subaru Impreza WRX. The hitch has a 2,000 lb towing weight capacity, but you would need to either check your owner's manual or with your dealership to see what the vehicle is rated for. You do not want to exceed the vehicle capacity for tongue weight or towing capacity. Typically, a Class l hitch is used for...

  • Is Trimming Required for Installation of the 2004 Subaru WRX STI Hitch # C11497
You will need to trim the rear bumper fascia as needed to provide clearance for driver side mounting plate (approximately a 1/2 inch x 1/2 inch area). Other than that there are no other permanent modifications that need to be made to install this Custom Fit Class I Hitch, item # C11497, on your 2004 Subaru WRX STI.

I contacted our representative at Curt about installing the Curt Trailer Hitch, part # C11497, on your 2007 Subaru Impreza WRX STI. He informed me that there will be minimal trimming on your rear bumper fascia at the very bottom approximately 1/2 inch by 1/2 area, possibly less. Since the trimming will be at the very bottom of the bumper fascia, it should not be very noticeable. To trim the bumper fascia, you could use a utility knife, tin snips or a dremel tool. This trimming is to allow...

  • Fit of Curt C11497 Class I Hitch on 2002 Subaru WRX Wagon with Aftermarket Exhaust
When Curt and Draw-Tite develop hitch fits for a given vehicle, it's done with the OEM exhaust in mind as there are a myriad of aftermarket exhaust systems available and different ways to install them. Unfortunately, there just isn't any way to test fit for the various aftermarket exhaust options. If your aftermarket exhaust sits within the same footprint as the OEM exhaust and is of roughly the same size, there's a good chance that it won't interfere with the fit of the Curt # C11497...

While we haven't had the opportunity to install the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11497 for an installation video, we were able to shoot one for the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24710 on a 2006 Subaru Impreza. There is a bit of a year gap between your 1999 and the 2006, but according to my research your vehicle should be somewhat similar since they're only one generation apart. Since both of the hitches have identical installations you can use the attached video of the...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch for 2008 Subaru Forester
I do have a great option for you, however the Curt Class I Trailer Hitch # C11497 that you referenced will not fit your 2008 Subaru Forester. This particular hitch is designed for certain model years of the Subaru Impreza and Outback Wagon and it will not line up correctly to the frame rails of your Forester. For your Forester I instead recommend the Curt Class II Receiver Hitch # C12038, which will match existing holes in the frame of the vehicle for a no-drill installation, features...

Based on the exhaust you have and the unknown compatibility with Curt hitch # C11497 on your 2007 Subaru Impreza, I recommend getting 3, if not a couple extra just in case because you never know what you might need. Its better to be prepared. You mentioned using the hitch with a bike rack. Since the hitch is a Class I, you will need a bike rack that is Class I compatible and you are limited to 2 bikes at most. Also, Curt requires the use of stabilization strap # 18050 when using the hitch...

  • Bike Rack That Can Accommodate More Than 2 Bikes on 2006 Impreza With Class I Receiver
The only hitch offered for your 2006 Impreza is a Class I, which has a relatively low tongue weight capacity of 200 lbs. This is due to the strength of the attachment points on the frame rails where the hitch installs to the vehicle. Because of this low tongue weight capacity, no more than two bikes should be placed on a bike rack used in a Class I receiver (although the rack might be able to accommodate 3 or 4 bikes). As more bikes are added, the leverage placed on the receiver increases....

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4" # C11497 is the only confirmed fit we have for the 2006 Outback Sport from any of our manufacturers. I'm confused by the model you gave as the Subaru website lists the XT Limited as different from the Sport. • Recommended Trailer Hitch for 2004 Subaru Outback Wagon
The only available trailer hitches for your 2004 Subaru Outback Wagon all have 1-1/4 inch receiver openings. This is simply because the vehicle's towing and tongue weight capacities are lower than what a higher class trailer hitch (and larger 2 inch receiver opening) will provide. Trailer hitch manufacturers do this to prevent vehicles with lower capacities from being overloaded with a higher rated hitch. If you do not have the Sport model, I recommend the Draw-Tite Class II Frame Receiver...

The trailer hitch manufacturers do not test fit any vehicles with aftermarket products installed. They will only recommend a fitment on a 2007 Subaru Impreza WRX STI that has a factory exhaust. The Curt Class I 1-1/4 Inch Hitch, part # C11497, will fit a 2007 Subaru Impreza WRX STI with the factory exhaust. You're halfway there, because the Curt # C11497 you were looking at is a confirmed fit on your 2000 Subaru Impreza.
