This base plate kit is made from computer-cut, all-steel construction for outstanding strength, giving you solid attachment points to handle heavy-duty towing. It bolts directly to the frame with no welding required, and the hitch pin attachment makes connecting your tow bar straightforward. The durable black powder coat finish helps resist corrosion through years of travel.
When the trip is over, pull two pins and the drawbars come right off, leaving the front end looking clean and uncluttered. Once removed, the remaining brackets sit tucked within the grille area where they’re protected from scrapes and scuffs and are nearly invisible. It keeps the vehicle’s front end free of protruding parts when not in use.
Because these base plates are built for strong, heavy-duty applications, no crossbar is required. That means fewer parts to line up and a faster connection each time you set up to tow. The design also gives a sleeker appearance since there’s no extra hardware spanning the front of the vehicle.
These direct-connect base plates work with Roadmaster tow bars that slide into a trailer hitch receiver—such as the Nighthawk, Sterling, Blackhawk, Blackhawk 2, Falcon, and Falcon 2. They’re not for tow bars that mount on a hitch ball, so you know exactly what will fit your gear before you start. If you ever need replacement drawbars or want to pair them with another brand’s tow bar, compatible replacement arms (part # RM-ARMS) and adapter brackets (part # BX88185) are available separately.
Installation is simplified thanks to custom brackets that align to factory mounting points. Everything needed for assembly—including the mounting hardware—is in the box along with instructions that walk through each step. For complete installation, fishwires (part # C58400?– sold separately) are required to guide bolts into position during mounting.

I’ve pulled the Chevy behind our motor home several times over a the last year. It has worked excellent. And when not in tow the tubing is barely noticeable.

Wow great job Crystal! It looks great! Also, I couldn’t help but notice “Ski Express” on the car, that’s pretty cool. What kind of work do you do?

Which trim is your 2026 Chevy Trax? Per Roadmaster, the # RM25EQ (523228-5) fits all trims of the 2026 Trax except the ACTIV trim....

It’s been a great year. No problems with the base plate. Works great with my tow bar. Towed my trailblazer from Texas to North Dakota and back, and several short trips.

Glad to hear that, Alfredo! Happy to hear that your wife likes it, too. Way to go on pressing on and getting the install done! Would you have any advice or tips for anyone else looking to do the same install on their '25 Jeep Gladiator?
