Couldn't find the vacuum brake bleeder locally. Haven't used it yet but looks like a quality product. Prices are very competitive at etrailer, saved myself 30-40 dollars by being patient for shipping. 435764

  • Difficulty Bleeding Trailer Brakes with Titan Model 6 Actuator
  • It does take quite a bit of force to manually push in an actuator with or without the cap on. But the cap should be off when you bleed the brakes. Also, the longer the board the more leverage you can put on the coupler and the easier it will be to move it. I recommend using a vacuum pump brake bleeder # PTW87030 which makes things a lot easier. Also it is worth mentioning that if the fluid has no where to go then the actuator will only push in so far. So if you haven't opened a bleeder...

  • Troubleshooting Bleeding Brakes with Vacuum Brake Bleeder
  • You shouldn't be experiencing issues with bleeding the brakes with a Vacuum Brake Bleeder, like part # PTW87030, after installing the Brake Actuator with Electric Lockout # T47154107K. It sounds like you might have a clog somewhere in your brake line. What you will want to do is find the next closest fitting from the brake on the trailer and try bleeding the brake line from there. If it bleeds just fine then you know that you need to replace the brake line section that you just bypassed....

  • Recommended Brake Replacements For 2000 Jayco Eagle 12SO
  • When replacing brakes on a trailer it is often more cost effective to get the entire assembly than to get the parts piece by piece. I recommend the Hydraulic Trailer Brake Kit - Uni-Servo - 10" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies - 3,500 lbs # AKUBRK-35 for your 2000 Jayco Eagle 12SO. However, if you just want the brake cylinder, I recommend the Replacement Wheel Cylinder for 10" and 12" Hydraulic Brakes - Uni-Servo - Right Hand # AKBRKR-H7-R and left hand # AKBRKR-H7-L. For the shoes,...

  • Why is the Hole So Small in Trailer Brake Master Cylinder Fittings
  • The small opening in master cylinder fittings like # T1209900 is designed to provide the proper amount of fluid and pressure through the brake lines. Bleeding trailer brakes manually is difficult. You could use a power brake bleeder, vacuum style bleeder like # PTW87030, or change methods of how you manually bleed the brakes. What I recommend is to attach the trailer safety chains together then position a long 2x4 upright between the chains and the front of the coupler. Use the long...

  • Recommended Disc Brakes For 2016 Grand Design GD Momentum With Lippert 7000 lb Triple Axle
  • For your Lippert 7,000 lb axles on your 2016 Grand Design GD Momentum triple axle trailer, I recommend the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit - 13" Hub/Rotor - 8 on 6-1/2 - E-Coat - 7,000 lbs # K2HR79E. These fit the industry standard number 42 spindles. For this you will need the inner bearing # 25580 and outer bearing # 02475 along with oil seal # 10-63. I recommend you check the bearing diameters to make sure they match your spindles. I've attached a photo and article to assist. For your disc...

  • Recommended Disc Brakes and Brake Lines For Second Axle on 2013 Venture Boat Trailer
  • The Kodiak Disc Brake Kit - 10" Hub/Rotor - 5 on 4-1/2 - Dacromet - 3,500 lbs # K2HR35DKG will work fine on the second axle of your 2013 Venture boat trailer as long as the bearings and seal inner diameters match your spindles. This kit has the most standard sizes compatible with the vast majority of 3500 lb axles. The inner bearings are L68149 with inner diameter 1.378 inches. The outer bearings are L44649 with inner diameter 1.063 inches. The grease seal 10-19 has an inner diameter...

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Brakes Malfunction with Electric Over Hydraulic Drum Brake System
  • Air in your hydraulic lines when using the HydraStar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator for Drum Brakes - 1,000 psi # HBA-10 with new lines would only be a leaking master cylinder, leaking brake cylinder or in the drum brake assembly or improper brake bleeding. Most of the time, the brake bleeding is the issue because you need start with the brake assembly with the longest line from the master cylinder and then move to the next longest until you are all the way through your system I...

  • Do you Start with the Front or Rear Axle When Bleeding Brakes on a Trailer
  • I am sure you could start with the forward most axle and work your way back to the rearward most axle and be just fine but I recommend starting with the rearward most axle and working your way forward to the master cylinder when bleeding brakes on either a trailer or vehicle. This method will ensure that all of the trapped air gets pushed out of the lines and does not work it's way further back. If you need a manual brake bleeder then you can use the Hand Vacuum Pump Brake Bleeder part...

  • Are Brake Actuating Coupler Master Cylinders Universal Fit?
  • For a surge brake actuator, the master cylinders are not universal fit. There are different styles and there are different psi levels for disc brakes versus drum brakes. For instance the Master Cylinder for Titan Actuators - Disc Brakes # T4747100 cannot work in place of the Demco Actuator Replacement Master Cylinder for Drum Brakes # 5650 simply because it won't fit the mounting correctly or hold the same brake pressure. If the mounting locations and the pressure were ideal, then you...

  • Recommended Conversion from Hubs with Drum to Oil Bath Disc Brakes on 8,000 lb Axle
  • If you have a Dexter 8,000 lb axle then you can easily convert from drum brakes to disc brakes with the oil bath. I recommend the Dexter Disc Brake Kit - 12-1/4" Hub/Rotor - Oil - 8 on 6-1/2 - E-Coat - 8,000 lbs # K71-635-91 which comes with the bearings and oil seal you need. Then I recommend the Kodiak Synthetic Bearing Oil for Oil Bath Hubs - 8 oz Bottle # XLPROLUBE. If you currently have hydraulic drum brakes, then updating the master cylinder to the disc brake version is all...

  • Troubleshooting Titan 60 Hydraulic Surge Brake Actuator Not Gravity Feeding the Lines
  • I ran this by a couple of our installers and they said some of those drum brake actuators have a check valve in the coupler that won't allow gravity feed. Some of those check valves require like 10 lbs of pressure to allow the fluid to move. I recommend using a vacuum bleeder like # PTW87030 to get your fluid in the system without any air and then you will be sure your system is ready to go.

  • Troubleshooting Electric Over Hydraulic Brakes Taking A While to Work After Repairing Brake Lines
  • The first thing that comes to mind is that you might indeed still have some air in the brake lines on your trailer. It could be that this is preventing the brake shoes to engage completely until they get warm enough to do a better job. This may be why the brakes only seem to start working after pulling the trailer for a bit. When bleeding the brakes you will want to start with the brake furthest from the actuator, opening the bleeder screw and keeping it open until you see that the...
