Great tailgate assist. Smooth operation and keeps the tailgate from banging or slipping out of your hand when opening it. Only caution is watch video on installation to make sure you have the orientation correct. It’s very difficult to remove to ball joint once installed.
Great addition to the truck! Not sure why Ford doesn’t include this feature. Easily installed as shown in their video. I suggest getting a T50 socket to use for better leverage on removal and reinstalling the star bolt.

Heather A - 3/14/2022This is the fourth one of these I have purchased and installed. Easy to install with great instructions it was done in about 30 minutes. Great product wouldn’t own a pickup truck without one. Makes life easier lowering that heavy tailgate.
David - 11/16/2021Easy to install. Needed to use my T50 1/2 ratchet to remove the upper bolt. Small T50 included just didn't have enough leverage. Took maybe 15 minutes. Make sure you install the small extending shock arm pointed down and not up. It is not clear from the pictures. etrailer customer service is the best!
Super easy to install. 15 minutes. Directions with pictures easy to follow. My big, heavy tailgate didn't slam down after installation. Piston and hardware are heavy duty so hopefully they will last. Highly recommend!
Greg - 08/24/2021I love the fact that I can open the tailgate and not have to hold its weight so it doesn’t bang open. The only thing I wish that it would also help with closing the tailgate, too.

It was so easy to put on it works nice it be nice if they made a lift assist to work just as easy
Thomas - 08/25/2021This tailgate assist works perfectly! It took about 10 minutes to install. I’m 5’2” and no longer concerned about the tailgate falling on me when I try to open it! I would recommend this to anyone that has a large pickup.
Susan - 05/08/2020I previously had a Toyota Tundra that had a factory tailgate shock similar to this. After the purchase of my Ford F350 (which didn't have one,) I quickly realized how much I needed some way to slow the dropping of the tailgate. This worked fine and was very easy to install.
This gets a two because of you say you’re including a T-50 wrench, then you should include one! The crap that is included as one, will only give you agony and you will need to purchase a socket for it. Geez. Other than that, it works great and would be a five star product.

The DeeZee Tailgate assist is very well built and was Very easy to install on my F350. Took me less than 10 minutes and it works great! Glad to have it on the truck to keep the wear and tear down on the tailgate. Etrailer.com was fantastic. Received it so fast it surprised me. My 2015 Chevrolet Silverado had a built in tailgate assist and was a great feature. My 2019 Ford F250 did not have tailgate assist, but with the DeeZee tailgate assist, that is no longer an issue. Easy to install and makes all the difference. Great product.
