Easy to install. Needed to use my T50 1/2 ratchet to remove the upper bolt. Small T50 included just didn't have enough leverage. Took maybe 15 minutes. Make sure you install the small extending shock arm pointed down and not up. It is not clear from the pictures. etrailer customer service is the best!1236285

Definitely worth the price... I waited for (30) days to be able to give an Honest review. It was SO easy to install and it has worked flawlessly for over a month now. The ONLY issue I had with install is that the Torx tool Provided wasn’t strong enough to break the Existing bolt free On my truck, luckily I have a full set of Torx sockets and used a socket wrench, piece of cake.

Very good I like it

I installed the tailgate assist on my 2018 Ford F250 and it works well. I do see a potential issue with the rubber cable cover next to the tailgate clip wearing over time. This may cause issues with the rubber and the paint on the side of the tailgate even with the supplied protective sheet. I'm going to try shaving the rubber piece down a bit to try and prevent this. Other than this it seems to be a good addition to the truck. It will be interesting to see how it performs in cold temperatures.558198

The install video on the etrailer site is most helpful. The shock does help lower the tailgate - hands free. Supplying the tool to remove the tailgate cable bolt was much appreciated. Great addition to the truck! Not sure why Ford doesn’t include this feature. Easily installed as shown in their video. I suggest getting a T50 socket to use for better leverage on removal and reinstalling the star bolt.960728

This Tailgate assist does have a 3-Year limited warranty.

I previously had a Toyota Tundra that had a factory tailgate shock similar to this. After the purchase of my Ford F350 (which didn't have one,) I quickly realized how much I needed some way to slow the dropping of the tailgate. This worked fine and was very easy to install.730401

Great tailgate assist. Smooth operation and keeps the tailgate from banging or slipping out of your hand when opening it.

Only caution is watch video on installation to make sure you have the orientation correct. It’s very difficult to remove to ball joint once installed.1239558

Still working perfectly!

Super easy to install. 15 minutes. Directions with pictures easy to follow. My big, heavy tailgate didn't slam down after installation. Piston and hardware are heavy duty so hopefully they will last. Highly recommend!867361

No issues at all. Functions as designed!!

Opens at a good speed. It does have to travel about 10-12” before the shock takes the weight off. It does not assist to close but my F250 is aluminum so not a problem.3421334

I can’t believe I waited so long to buy this device. It is amazing. The tailgate is quite big on our F250 pickup. It is always a challenge to open it while holding something. This little device changed all of that.

The install was very easy. The directions are well written. It took less than 10 minutes start to finish. I’ll never own a pickup truck without one of these again.1306726

Still works great! Its been great not having the tailgate every time its opened. It closes easy just like it wasnt there but slowly lowers every time its opened.

Purchased this for my 2020 Ford SuperDuty pickup tailgate. While the body skin on this vehicle is aluminum, and in my advancing years the tailgate seems to have gotten heavier as time has gone on. Watched the product and installation video on etrailer’s website prior to purchasing and figured it should help, and it does. Maybe doesn’t slow the decent when lowering as much as shown in the video but it is a definite improvement. Installation was straight forward and well explained in the included instructions. The kit did not however include the referred to bottle of thread locker, but I had one in the cabinet in my workspace. Over I am very pleased with both the product and the always satisfactory customer service from etrailer who will continue to be my go to for truck and trailer related accessories and upgrade items.3328806
