This in tailgate add on is awesome!!!. It is my second one and you guys are the only vender in my area that carries it. None, none of the big parts stors carry popnlock, they didn't even know what I was talking about. I went on line ordered it and was a wiz to put in. The lock hasn't frozen on me and I live in Newengland. If your looking to secure your truck bed then this is the lock you need. No drilling or retrofitting un bolt and rebolt your handle back on. This is my 2005 dodge dakota.
30 minutes to install. great so far. Only improvement I would make would be some kind of steel support that would sit be hind the gates plastic handle. Seems you can break the handle pretty easily. I know it stays locked if you break handle, but would be nice if it could save the handle in that situation.

First got the OEM product . Didn't work. Won't lock. etrailer was very good with exchange to PopnLock. Took 5 mins to install. Works well. Will recommend.

Unfortunately I have sold the vehicle so cannot give you a report as to how it is working now. It did everything I had hoped during the time I owned the vehicle.
It is a "pop" in type of installation; however, the instructions are quite inadequate. A couple of pics showing what the installed lock looks like from the inside of a tailgate would definitely have been helpful. Also, the installer needs to be advised not to close the tailgate once the batch bolts are out because the latch does not work then. I called the help desk during regular business hours and had to leave a message in hopes of getting a call back, but I figured it all out before the return call came in. It does appear to be an effective solution for those of us whose vehicles do not have factory installed locks on the tailgates.
Worked great for my 2003 Dodge Dakota. Tailgate does get a little sticky since you have to reorientate the latch/ handle and it moves it further out making the open point of the latch further/ harder. Just requires a little more muscle to open. Does exactly what is advertised and does it well!

A little difficult to install, could not tighten the main securing bolt as tight as would seem appropriate. If I did, the lock would not open. It works, just makes me wonder a bit.

As always, this lock works fantastic under extreme conditions of ice and snow it has never unlocked or the locking key hole has never become frozen works every time.thats why its my second one. My first one rotted out.
