Jeff: Hello everybody, this is Jeff etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a look at this Roadmaster coiled cable for the Even Brake braking system. Now this is for use with an emergency breakaway system. This part is included with the Even Brake braking system. This can be used on trailer breakaway switches and other dead man switches. You can see it has a nice coil design.

Keeps the cable off the road, allows slack for cornering.Now this does extend to about eight feet and it will retract for storage. You notice on each end it has the carabiners, two of them total for attaching to one end to the breakaway switch, the other to the tow vehicle. But that should do it for the review on the Roadmaster coiled cable for the Even Brake braking system.

Our entire Roadmaster Falcon 2 tow bar package is easy to install, easy to setup, and easy to maintain. I misplaced our break away cable and Etrailer promptly sent us a replacement. Not only does Etrailer provide a great product, they offer great after purchase service.

I am very happy with my Roadmaster Falcon 2 tow bar package. I have had it now for two years. Its rugged and yet easy to install and set up. I have traveled with the tow bar for several 3000 mile trips and have not had a single issue with it. We spent some time in South Padre Island, Texas with it and my breakaway cable rusted because of the salt air. We ordered a new one from Etrailer and promptly received the new one. We are very happy with our setup.

My experience with etrailer was good from the perspective of the cooperation and pleasantness. However, even though I was clear on the tow bar I had (Blue Ox) and the vehicle I was towing (2005 Dodge Dakota) when the tow package came and the shop I had installing it got to the end of the installation, it was discovered that the wrong pins were sent, i.e. they wouldn't lock in place - too short . At first we couldn't determine what the problem was, so I called etrailer back. Was told those were the correct pins. Finally called Blue Ox directly and the rep immediately told me (after I gave him the PN) that those were the wrong pins. Without me asking he offered and did send two replacement pins free of charge. They worked perfectly.

Used this to replace the stranded breakaway cable on my fifth wheel I was always concerned the stranded cable would become tangled in something while towing. This coiled cable stays up off the floor and in-line with the breakaway control.

I bought this cable to replace the cheesy OEM breakaway cable on my trailer. This one has plenty of uncoiled length that I won't worry about it pulling out when turning, but the coiled length is short enough to keep it from sagging and dragging. The included clips are very small, so I replaced them with some larger ones I had lying around the house so they'd fit what I'm clipping them onto.

Exactly what I was looking for, previous cable would drag or get snagged and pull the brake pin. The coil helps keep it up and provides expansion when turning.

Carabiner ends are too small to connect on my RV and too small to handle easily on the car end, but can simply be replaced with medium-sized carabiners.

This fits Abarth and Sport Turbo models and would require Attachment Tabs # BLU57XR. For the breakaway cable you can use part # RM-8603.     Hello again, David. I went and grabbed one of the Replacement Roadmaster Coiled Breakaway Cables # RM-8603 from our warehouse to see how long it extends. It absolutely does extend to 8'. I was actually able to stretch it closer to 9'. Any farther than that and I would be afraid of damaging the cable. The breakaway pin would likely pull before it extended that long. It retracts down to about 8" or 9". While I was out there, I also measured the Fastway Zip Coiled Trailer Breakaway Cable....

Are you using one of the Demco (formerly SMI) braking systems like the Air Force One or Stay-IN-Play Duo? If so you will need the Breakaway Pin # SM99905. For the cable you can use the Roadmaster # RM-8603 which is a coiled cable that extends to 8' long. If this is not exactly what you need just let me know and I can make sure you get the right parts.

    Hello David, interesting question. Breakaway cables like the Roadmaster # RM-8603 are not tested for break strength. That just isn't what they are made for. All they are made to do it pull the breakaway pin in the case of a disconnect. They are not made to carry any weight and the breakaway pin would pull out way before it got anywhere close to 300 lbs. So I'm afraid there aren't any concrete numbers I can give you for that. That said, I can tell you the Roadmaster # RM-8603 cable is 0.10"...

    For the replacement pin you need the Replacement Breakaway Switch Pin for Demco SBS Supplemental Braking Systems # SM99905. This will work with the breakaway on your # SM99243.
