Hello again, David. I went and grabbed one of the Replacement Roadmaster Coiled Breakaway Cables # RM-8603 from our warehouse to see how long it extends. It absolutely does extend to 8'. I was actually able to stretch it closer to 9'. Any farther than that and I would be afraid of damaging the cable. The breakaway pin would likely pull before it extended that long. It retracts down to about 8" or 9".
While I was out there, I also measured the Fastway Zip Coiled Trailer Breakaway Cable. It is also 0.10" diameter. The Fastway has a plunger on one end, while the Roadmaster has a small carabiner clip on each end.
What are you planning to use this for exactly?

I am using it for a breakaway cable on mechanical breakaway that pulls cable rather than pulling a plastic plunger from an electrical breakaway.
