Provider Radials with Automotive-Grade Tread

Provider Tread Vs Standard Tread

Unlike standard trailer tire tread, which has solid, continuous ribs, the automotive-grade tread on these Provider radials has ribs with breaks. These breaks allow water to run off to the sides. The Provider tread also has sipes. Siping is a process in which thin grooves (or sipes) are cut into the rubber of the tire. The grooves channel water away from the tread so that the tire makes better contact with the road. Both of these features greatly improve traction during wet, snowy, or icy conditions.

Provider radials are constructed with double polyester cords and double steel belts for increased durability and endurance. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation. Provider radials are bake tested - a process usually reserved for automotive tires - to ensure that the rubber holds up over time.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

  • Highest Speed Load Range C 12 Inch Radial Trailer Tire to Stop Blowouts
The load range C Provider ST175/80R13 Radial Trailer Tire # TTWTRTM1758013C has a speed rating of M, which is 81 mph; and there are tires with speed ratings of N, though not for 12 inch tires; for that the highest speed rating the 81 mph M-rated tire. There are two things you can do in order to reduce blowouts, one of which is not exceed the speed rating, but the other is absolutely go to a radial trailer tire. These flex more and run cooler than bias trailer tires, so if you are using...

  • Can Trailer Tires be put on Horse Drawn Wagon?
It is feasible to put trailer tires on your horse drawn wagon. You would need to get tires that fit the same size wheel, which is 13 inches, and also make sure that your new tires have the appropriate load range for your wagon. We have tires that will fit 13" wheels and are sized 175/80-13. Your current tires are 7.3" wide and have a diameter of 23.2"; tires that are 175/80-13 are 6.9" wide and have a diameter of 24". The option for a load range D radial tire, which has a maximum capacity...

  • Recommendation for Replacing 20.5 X 10 X 8 Trailer Tires with Radial Tires
Upgrading your existing 20.5 x 8.0 x 10 (modern equivalent 205/65-10) bias tires to radial alternatives is a great idea, especially since you mentioned traveling through hot climates and presumably highways with the distance you mentioned. Radial tires will do a better job of flexing on the road, thus running cooler than bias alternatives to ensure a longer lifespan. There aren't any radial ply 10" trailer tire options available, so you will need to upgrade to a larger size as well. The...

  • 13 Inch Trailer Wheels and Tire and Wheel Combos that Come with Center Caps
Some trailer wheels come with center caps and others do not. The ones that do come with a center cap will either state in the description the cap is included or it will be pictured (or both). The # AM20281B 13-inch wheel comes with a center cap. We don't currently have any of these wheel options in a combination, so you would need to add a tire like the Provider ST175/80R13 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range C # TTWTRTM1758013C.

  • Replacements for B78-13 Trailer Tires With Load Range C
The size of the older B78-13 trailer tires translates to the current 175/80-13 trailer tire size. The best 175/80-13 load range C tire to replace them is the Provider ST175/80R13 Radial Trailer Tire # TTWTRTM1758013C. Of all the tires of this size and load range, this Provider has the best tread depth (10/32") and speed rating (81 mph) for the best grip and performance. I have added a link to a video review for you to check out as well.

  • Can 12 Inch Trailer Wheel and Tire Be Replaced with 13 or 14 Inch Wheel?
Increasing your wheel size one inch is typically not an issue, so you likely will be able to use a wheel like the Aluminum Viking Series Valhalla Trailer Wheel - 13" x 5" - 5 on 4-1/2 - Silver Spoke # AX02350545BMFL you asked from. If you use a wheel like this, then I recommend using the Provider ST175/80R13 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range C # TTWTRTM1758013C. This combination will give you an outer diameter of 24 inches so you will need to make sure you have about 4 inches from the...

  • Best ST175/80-13 Trailer Tires to Avoid Blowouts
Trailer tires should really be replaced every 6 to 8 years at minimum so the fact you've gotten multiple decades out of your trailer tires is pretty amazing. You must have taken great care to keep them out of the sun or weather because usually they'll show signs of wearing and cracking well before that. But as for the best option, you definitely want a radial tire over a bias tire for standard road use. Bias tires are more for agricultural use with stiffer sidewalls, while radials run...

  • Replacement Tire Recommendation for ST155/80-13 on Trailer
The closest tire size to the ST155/80R13 you have is the ST175/80-13. I did some calculations on the tire sizes and found that the difference between the 175/80R13 and the 155/80R13 is pretty small. The 175/80 is 24 inches inches tall whereas the 155/80 is 22.7 inches tall for a difference of 1.3 inches total, but that difference needs to be split since the overall diameter is split since the wheel rotates on the axle. So basically the wheel will take up an additional .65 inches of your...

I'll start out by saying that we don't have specific specs on a Northern Tool Ironton trailer but I was able to locate a photo and because of the fenders, I don't believe you'll be able to go up to a larger wheel and tire; your current 4.80-12 tire is roughly 20.63" in diameter. The smallest available 13 inch tire is an ST175/80-13 like the one that comes on the Loadstar ST175/80D13 Bias Trailer Tire with 13" Galvanized Wheel - 4 on 4 - Load Range C # AM3S130, which is 24" tall. • Recommended Replacement ST175/80D13 Tires for Little Guy Trailer
To replace the ST175/80D13 tires on your 2011 Little Guy I strongly recommend the Provider # TTWTRTM1758013C. This radial ply tire is going to provide a substantial upgrade over your existing bias units (as indicated by the "D" in your tire size listing), especially for highway applications. A radial tire features cords that run at a 90 degree angle to the direction of travel compared to a 32 degree angle on a bias alternative. This essentially allows a radial to flex more - giving it...

  • Recommended Radial Versus Bias Trailer Tires for Tandem Axle Trailer
When using trailer tires, you want all your tires to match so they will wear evenly and have the same traction. It is not recommended to use a mix of radial and bias tires. The radial tires are made differently from the bias tires, so they will absolutely wear differently and will also heat up differently when in use. The friction from contact with the ground will allow the bias tires to heat up more than the radial. Since you often go in the bush, you will want to determine if a bias...

I have a solution for you, but the tire size you are looking for is no longer available. Instead the next closest size would be the 175/80R13 which will be right at 1.4 inches taller. As long as you have room for 3/4 of an inch more sidewall in your trailer fender well this tire size would work well. • Radial Trailer Tire Recommendation for a 2012 Kendon Motorcycle Trailer with ST175/80D13 Tires
Actually a radial tire flexes more than a bias tire, giving it better ground contact, traction, stability, and tread wear. I would highly recommend that style of tire for your trailer. A radial tire will normally run cooler than a bias ply tire, especially when the tire is under a load. A tire that runs cooler will last longer. A bias ply tire has a stiffer sidewall than a radial, a feature that might be useful for off road applications like farm use. At one time radials were more expensive...

  • Recommendation Replacement Tire for ST155/80-R13
A 5.30 X 12C tire is going to be your best replacement. If you need the 4 on 4 inch bolt pattern # AM30780 is a good option, or # AM30820 for the 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern. These both have the wheel and tire included, which you'll need, since you will be decreasing the size of your rim. The reason I suggest going with the 12 inch rims is because the smallest 13 inch tires available, such as # TTWTRTM1758013C, are 175/80R13 which is quite a bit larger. Your current tires are approximately...

In terms of the space you have available between the fenders and the tire tread you could go to a 13 inch tire (there isn't a 4.80-13 so it would have to be an ST175/80R13). But the 13 inch tire will be 2.22 inches wider than what you have now meaning the tire inner sidewall will be 1.11 inches closer to the trailer. If you have more than 1.11 inches between the existing inner sidewall and the trailer frame/body then you can go with a 13 inch tire by also switching to 13 inch wheels. If...

Most trailer tires are only rated for 65 mph so this is a great option for you.
