Hello, everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the Tucson towable tire pressure monitoring system with the six ball sensors. Now this tire pressure monitoring system will allow you to monitor your trailer or motor home tire pressures and temperature. A properly inflated tire can increase your fuel economy, extend tire life, and even improve safety and environmental efficiency. This kit here will include everything laid out here on the table. We'll start with the receiver monitor display right here.
It has a suction cup holder for mounting it. The six ball sensors, the repeater, the 12 volt power cable with the on and off switch, installation hardware and a nice user's manual to describe how this all its goes together and how it operates. Now the monitor can display and store up to three separate sets of 10 tire sensors, so 30 total for three separate trailers or RV configurations. Basically you can easily change between the three settings when you're towing different trailers, and if you need additional sensors, we do sell additional ball sensors. But are sold separately on our website.
The sensors themself, they use radio frequency to transmit realtime data to the in-cab receiver. And these are motion activated ball sensor which will install in the inside of the tire to prevent damage or theft. And what's nice is, these ball type sensors, they're a hard plastic body with a rubberized coating for durability. And they weigh less than one ounce, so they won't affect your tire balance. And what's unique is each sensor has a unique ID to identify that sensor to the receiver.
All of them in the box here will be labeled. So when you initially install them, you put 'em in that way. And anytime you need to move them around like for wheel location or that, it allows you to just punch it into the monitor display where they're located. So the interchangeable wheel order means that there's no need to have to move the sensors after a tire rotation. And these sensors do have a longer life expectancy than external cap sensors.
These will last five to 10 years depending on the use. Now the receiver, it's a very large receiver unit. Displays critical tire monitoring parameters. It'll let you show you tire pressure monitoring range from zero to 203 PSI. Tire temperature monitoring range from a negative 40 degrees Fahrenheit up to 257 degrees Fahrenheit. It'll also show you the sensor's battery voltage and the repeaters input voltage. And it does offer visual and audible alarm warnings. They're immediately sent to the receiver when there's any problems detected. And the screen itself can be turned off while still monitoring in the background. And it also has an alarm volume that can be adjusted or muted. The customizable settings allow you to adjust to your desired units of measurement. Temperature units, you can do either Fahrenheit or Celsius. And the pressure units, either KPA, PSI, or BAR. The monitor itself, the size on it, a width of it side to side is about 4 1/2 inches. Height of it about 2 1/8 inches, and the depth of the unit is only about one inch deep. The radio frequency repeater right here, this will enhance your radio frequency transmission range between the sensors and the receiver. Has a cable length of 90 inches. And the dimension on the repeater, you're going to be looking about 2 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches, and it is only about 7/8 of an inch deep. The specs for this. The operating voltage is 12 to 24 volts DC. But that's gonna do it for the review on the Tucson towable tire pressure monitoring system with the six ball sensors.
I have not yet installed the system and the sensors so I am in hopes that they will work as planned and advertised so far they look good to me.
Works as advertised. Great peace of min d.
Received my order promptly. Hadn't had a chance to install the TPS yet.
Delivered on time. have not put inside wheels yet. Will let you know when all the snow melts.
Installed on 36’ fifth wheel. Works fla wlessly.
One of two elbow fittings was smaller so I had to go and buy a nipple to install it makingbit a bit taller, so I had to just reverse the install, photos added
Worked very well, gave me peace of mind driving down the road, installed on 5th wheel camper.
We love the Tuson Tire Monitoring System. Installation requires breaking the tire down to install the sensor but the rest of the installation was really easy. The kit comes with everything needed and straightforward instructions. The display is very clear and easy to read. It scrolls through 3 different data fields; Tire Pressure, Tire Temperature, and Trailer Battery Voltage.
I m more than pleased with the TPMS. We were riding on cheap Chinese-made tires that ended up with four of the six different sidewall failures. The internal TPMS alerted us to the building temperatures in the tires, and we were able to get them serviced before they blew out and caused untold damage to our RV. They do not stress the air valve stems like external sensors and give accurate readings. The downside is that I have to move the RV before the readings show up on the monitor in the cab. But that is a small price to pay for the peace of mind that they bring us on the road.
Had these installed when I replaced all 6 tires. Tire installer complained a little on the fit but got them all installed. Installed on a 2017 thor class C. Took a round trip ride from Connecticut to Oregon and back via southern circle Texas,Arizona etc. system never skipped a beat. Worked perfectly the entire trip. Never lost communication. Did not install booster antenna as motorhome is only 24’ long. Checked the actual tire pressure vs digital readout a couple of times and it was right on. One down side is the graphic on the display doesn’t show the rear duallies , just a total count of tires. You have to remember which sensors are on what rear tires. Very good and reliable system and delivery was fast
I tow a 29' travel trailer, and we just returned home from a 2-week trip where the Tuson TPMS system performed extremely well. This system replaced my previous TPMS system that had the sensors that screw on to the outside of the valve stems. I used to have to wait until I turned at a sharp enough angle for the dash mounted receiver to pick up the signal...not anymore!
Prior to our trip, I installed the repeater before the tire shop installed the sensors, and the receiver did not acknowledge the trailer battery voltage signal. I even moved the receiver to within a foot of the repeater, still no signal. After the four sensors were installed, everything worked perfectly. I even fudged on the repeater location (directions tell you to mount horizontally under the trailer tongue, I mounted vertically where there was a convenient pre-drilled hole) with no ill effects. The TPMS display cycles between tire pressure, tire temperature, and trailer battery voltage at reasonable intervals. I strongly recommend for ease of installation (thanks tire shop guys) and ease of use.
