Good light behind you makes all the difference when backing up a trailer or utility truck. This Peterson backup light uses a clear lens over a single 1156 incandescent bulb that draws 2.1 amps at 12V. It puts out strong, even light that cuts through the dark and gives you a clear view of what’s behind you. The round 5-1/2" face looks clean once mounted and works well in any setup that needs dependable reverse lighting.
Rough roads and heavy-duty use can shake lights loose, but not this one. The stainless steel housing resists corrosion while the built-in retainer ring protects the bulb from vibration. It keeps the light secure and extends bulb life, so you don’t have to worry about flickering or loosened connections over time.
When you want a tidy finish, this light mounts flush using its integrated flange. It requires a 4-1/2" diameter hole for installation, giving it a recessed appearance that sits close to the trailer body. The single-wire design grounds through the mounting hardware, keeping wiring straightforward and clutter-free.
There’s no need to replace the whole unit if a bulb goes out. The 1156 incandescent bulb can be swapped quickly when needed, so upkeep stays simple and inexpensive. You get the familiar reliability of an incandescent setup with easy access for maintenance whenever it’s time for a refresh.

Today, we're going to take a look at the Peterson trailer backup light with the stainless steel housing and the clear lens. This is an incandescent trailer light that'll provide a backup light function for trailers or utility trucks. It does use an incandescent bulb, can be to replace. It's a bulb type 1156. Has this nice clear lens over the incandescent bulb, and the lens is held in place by this metal retainer ring on the outer edge, here. That's how you'll access to replace the bulb.
If you put a screwdriver in there, pop that retainer ring out, the lens'll come out, and you can access replacing the bulb.It's a durable stainless steel housing that resists rust and corrosion. It is a flush-mount design, has the built-in mounting flange. The hardware to install this is not included. Does require a four and a half inch diameter hole for installation, and this light is compatible with 12 volt DC systems. It is a single-wire design, and when you hook up this wire to your backup light, it'll ground through the mounting hardware.
This light is DOT, Department of Transportation, compliant, and it is made in the USA.A few dimensions on this. The overall width of it, including the flange, is right at five and a half inches. The depth of it is going to be right at one and five-eighths inches, and the light face itself, the lens portion, is four inches. The distance between these mounting holes .. There's three mounting holes, the bottom one is sort of an elongated one.
But the center-to-center on all of them is going to be four and a quarter inches. Bulb type, we mentioned, is 1156. The power draw on this at 12.8 volts is 2.1 amps.The last thing I'm going to do is hook this up to some 12 volt power, just so we can see how bright it is. What we're going to do is go ahead and take the power wire, and we'll go ahead and hook that up to our single wire, and then we'll take our ground wire and let's see if we can get a ground. I'll hook it to the stainless steel housing and see if that'll give us a ground.
I'll go ahead and turn on our power. Yeah. This is a good enough ground. There's your backup light. We'll go ahead turn off the overhead lights. You can see it has a very bright backup light to it. You can go ahead and turn back on the overhead lights. Disconnect our wires.That should do it for the review on the Peterson trailer backup light with the stainless steel housing and the clear lens.

Fit perfectly!
Light is perfect, the rubber seal is the issue. Had to get another brand of seal for it to get light into the hole and stay otherwise one side would go in and other side you could not push light in. It should have popped in place like my old one.
