  Hi Jody; scissor jacks like the # TJSCHD-24-4 will last a really long time but it does depend on use, weather, etc. If the screws are rusty and the rest of the jack looks fine I wouldn't worry about it. More than likely it is surface rust and the screws aren't compromised but you could always replace them just to be safe. They use different hardware so are not compatible, but both will do a lovely job of helping stabilize your trailer.
