JT Strongarm Stabilizer Front Mounting Point Recommendations

Updated 05/15/2023 | Published 05/11/2023

Question:

I purchased the JT Strongarm Stabilizer kit for my travel trailer. I have a 2019 Keystone Passport 2920BH. The front of my trailer does not have a “cross-member” to attach the stabilizer to as stated in the following directions. Under front half of chassis, locate a cross-member or center compartment with a steel floor from 6”- 18” from front of front jacks. Is there another part of the front of my trailer that I can attach the stabilizer to? I was thinking maybe the underside of each side of the “A” frame of the tongue? I attached a photo of the front underbelly of my travel trailer. There’s a crossbar under the underbelly cover, but it is holding up the water tank. So if I drilled into it, I’d drill into the water tank. There is also a crossbar further towards the front near the tongue Jack, but this is too far away from the stabilizer jacks. I’d appreciate any advice. Thanks.

The bar holding up your water tank wouldn't be a useable crossmember since it's just there to hold the tank up and isn't as structurally sound as an actual frame beam to handle to pressure the JT's Strong Arm Jack Stabilizer Kit # LC191025 is going to be placing on it to help stabilize the trailer. You're really looking for an actual frame beam when installing these stabilizers for the best performance.

If you remove the underbelly the should be an actual frame beam that the bolt holding the underbelly up goes into that you could mount onto. If that's not an option a lot of other people just connect the stabilizers to the trailer tongue instead.
