Features to know about

Smooth Stops Every Time: Hydraulic Power You Can Feel

This actuator delivers reliable braking for trailers with disc brakes, rated for a 20,000-lb gross towing weight and up to 2,000-lb tongue weight. Its surge-brake design automatically applies hydraulic pressure when your tow vehicle slows down, creating smooth and balanced brake response without the jerking or uneven feel of worn or outdated units. Whether you’re hauling heavy gear or keeping your trailer under control on long trips, the roller design inside the actuator keeps movement straight and consistent for dependable stopping power.

Backing Up Made Simple: Built-In Electric Lockout

When you shift into reverse, the integrated electric lockout takes care of the hard part. The solenoid connects through a 5-pole flat, 6-way round, or 7-pole trailer connector and automatically prevents the brakes from engaging while backing up. That means you can maneuver up a driveway or around tight corners without worrying about brake drag or wheel lockup. There’s no manual key to mess with and no switch to remember—just wire it up once and it works every time you reverse.

Corrosion Resistance That Lasts: Zinc-Plated Steel Construction

For trailers that see water, salt, or long outdoor storage, the zinc-plated finish on this steel actuator helps keep corrosion at bay. The sturdy housing resists bending even in jackknife situations, and a built-in shield protects the solenoid valve from road spray and grit. It’s a strong, low-maintenance setup that holds up well on utility and boat trailers alike.

Easy Hookup and Secure Connection: Drop Coupler with Trigger Latch

The heavy-duty drop coupler lines up neatly with your tow ball for fast hookups. A 2-5/16" ball socket fits snugly, and the trigger latch design keeps things secure while still being simple to operate—just pull back the trigger to open and close it. The built-in drop helps match trailer height to the tow vehicle so you get level towing and steady handling without extra hardware.

Ready to Mount: Bolt-On Design with Built-In Breakaway Kit

Installation is straightforward thanks to the bolt-on setup for a straight 4" wide trailer tongue. The included breakaway kit adds an extra layer of safety by applying the brakes if the trailer ever comes loose. Once bolted up, it’s a solid, ready-to-tow assembly that gives you confidence every time you hit the road.

Video Transcript for Detailed Breakdown of the Dexter Hydraulic Brake Actuator w/ Drop and Electric Lockout

Speaker 1: Today we're going to take a look at the Titan Hydraulic Disc Brake Actuator with the drop and electric lockout and a 20,000 pound gross towing weight capacity. Now, this hydraulic actuator will activate your trailer brakes when your tow vehicle slows or stops. Basically, when you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle, deceleration occurs and the momentum will push the trailer toward the rear of your vehicle. With the surge brake systems, the actuator is triggered on your trailer as it moves forward, once your tow vehicle starts to slow down. So when this happens, the actuator will contract, meaning this section right here will slide in. That will apply force to the master cylinder right here. This in turn supplies the necessarily hydraulic pressure to engage your trailer brakes. This one is the unique roller design so it does reduce the resistance during telescoping to create a straight-line movement.

You can see the two rollers up here, two down here. When this portion slides in, it rolls on those rollers. And if you notice, they have the grease Zerk fittings on the outside of the rollers. It makes for an easy lubrication. Just put your grease gun on there.

This is a sturdy durable steel construction. It resists bending in any jackknife situations. This one includes the electric reverse lockout. The solenoid right back here, this will let you back up without actuating your trailer brakes. Basically, the electric reverse lockout will automatically activate when you shift your tow vehicle into reverse. The solenoid basically wires into your trailer connector, which connects to your tow vehicle so it will detect when you go into reverse.

When you're in reverse, the solenoid insures that the hydraulic actuator does not activate your trailer brakes, thus allowing you to back up your vehicle. Now to use the electric lockout feature, you must have a five way flat, six way round or a seven way trailer connector. Also if you notice, it has a nice built-in shield over it. This protects that solenoid valve from the elements and from any damage. On the very front here, you can see it has a ball coupler with the trigger latch. It allows for safe and easy coupling and uncoupling. It has a nice circle grip here that you put your finger in.

It makes the latch very simple to use. Just pull back on the trigger to open the ball socket. Once you open the ball socket, drop it onto your ball, release it, and it will lock right into place over the ball.If you notice, this one has a built-in drop to it so this will help match your tow vehicle height. This has a nice corrosion-resistant zinc-plated finish. Up at the top here where the chains attach, this is a breakaway kit that's all included. It is a bolt-on installation. Right down here, you can see the bracket where you bolt it onto your trailer.Application, this is for trailers with disc brakes, gross towing weight capacity again is 20,000 pounds. Tongue weight capacity is 2,000 pounds. The ball size this is designed to fit over is a two and five-sixteenths diameter and this bracket is designed to mount on a straight four-inch-wide trailer tongue. That should do it for the review on the Titan Hydraulic Disc Brake Actuator with the drop and the electric lockout and a 20,000 pound gross towing weight capacity.
