This coupler features a simple-to-use latching mechanism known as the eZ-Latch. With this mechanism, hooking up is as easy as dropping the coupler over your trailer hitch ball. The latch does not need to be tugged or manually activated to allow the ball into the coupler socket, nor does it have to be secured in place. Just make sure that the coupler is properly lined up with the ball when you lower it, and the rest is automatic. Disengaging the coupler is just as effortless. Simply lift up the handle and the coupler socket will automatically release its grip on the ball.
The contoured, low-profile design of the latch handle helps protect the coupler from damage by allowing any potential hazards - from debris on the road to your ball mount backing into the coupler - to simply slide over the top. This helps prevent anything from getting under the latch handle and releasing the ball, and it can also limit any damage to the coupler should an impact occur.
Unlike most couplers, which have a pin hole through the handle latch, the eZ-Latch coupler features a hole through the side of the coupler itself. Inserting a coupler lock through this hole will keep the latch from lifting, preventing disconnect and theft.

Today we're going to take a look at the Dem co EZ Latch Channel Tongue Trailer Coupler, for a two and five-sixteenths diameter hitch ball, and has a 21,000 pound weight capacity.Now this straight tongue coupler is made of sturdy steel construction, has a nice silver powder coat finish over it to offer excellent corrosion resistance. It does meet 500 hour salt spray rating so it's great for marine applications.The channel tongue coupler will let you hook up to your trailer to tow your vehicle. And again, it provides the connection point right up here for your two and five-sixteenths diameter hitch ball.Now the nice feature on this is is it uses the easy latch coupler mechanism to ensure a nice, fast, simple, secure hookup and disconnect. This will basically let you hook up when the latch is in the closed position. All you have to do is just drop the coupler over the hitch ball and the latch will snap into place.Just to demonstrate that I happen to pull a two and five-sixteenths diameter hitch ball. So you can see when you put it over there and then you push down, it'll automatically latch onto it, snap into place and hook to your hitch ball, just like that.To release it, all you do is pull up on this easy latch handle all the way and remove it right from the hitch ball.
So simple as that. So with this latch closed, all you have to do is put it on there, push down, and it locks into place.Our handle on this is a corrosion proof polymer, nylon resin latch handle. It's durable, impact resistant. And if you want to lock this to your hitch ball, this hole right over here is a five-sixteenths diameter hole. It'll allow a five-sixteenths diameter coupler lock pin to slide through there, come through the other side, put the lock on it.
Keep anybody from removing your coupler from your hitch ball. Now the minimum span that's needed on the coupler lock is going to be that width, which is about three inches.This is a bolt-on installation. You can see right back here as the four bolt holes right here on the case. Now the installation hardware to install this are not included. These parts are made in the USA.
Again, the mounting on this, it's designed to fit onto a three inch wide straight channel coupler. So you can see if we put a ruler on that, measure the inside, it's right at three inches. The hitch ball size this fits on is a two and five sixteenths diameter. Looks great and should work well

Purchased to replace the “surge setup” on my 24 ft boat trailer= replace the neck, go with electric brakes....much better setup, and NO u will not have issues (being electric) when backing into the water. Much cheaper than fixing the worn out surge brake system. Great product / A+ customer service / much cheaper than any competitors price!
Since I haven't put on the trailer I have very little to say. That said it's very heavy and nice looking.
This replacement fit right on and bolted in place within 5 minutes. Probably would have been faster had I used power tools. I like the new ball latch much better. I have provided 2 photos for your viewing pleasure. First one without the product on and the second with the replacement attached and the old one setting on top. I want to say that George J provided excellent communications from the moment my order was processed all the way to delivery. etrailer by far has the best price & service. I would do business with them again in a heartbeat!!

Demco Channel hitch is great, it I the only one for me, easy latch, easy unlatch.
Fits perfect no slop or play. Only issue is shipping but that was our favorite most expensive shipping organization around USPS.

This coupler works excellent to this day. I am currently buying another one for my other boat trailer. This is a great solid trailer coupler and very heavy duty.
