This coupler features a simple-to-use latching mechanism known as the eZ-Latch. With this mechanism, hooking up is as easy as dropping the coupler over your trailer hitch ball. The latch does not need to be tugged or manually activated to allow the ball into the coupler socket, nor does it have to be secured in place. Just make sure that the coupler is properly lined up with the ball when you lower it, and the rest is automatic. Disengaging the coupler is just as effortless. Simply lift up the handle and the coupler socket will automatically release its grip on the ball.
The contoured, low-profile design of the latch handle helps protect the coupler from damage by allowing any potential hazards - from debris on the road to your ball mount backing into the coupler - to simply slide over the top. This helps prevent anything from getting under the latch handle and releasing the ball, and it can also limit any damage to the coupler should an impact occur.
Unlike most couplers, which have a pin hole through the handle latch, the eZ-Latch coupler features a hole through the side of the coupler itself. Inserting a coupler lock through this hole will keep the latch from lifting, preventing disconnect and theft.

Today we're going to take a look at the Demco EZ-Latch Channel Tongue Trailer Coupler for the two and 5/16 diameter hitch ball. This one has a 21,000 pound weight capacity. Now this is a straight tongue coupler, it's made of a sturdy steel construction, it has a nice zinc finish on it. Offers corrosion resistance. It does meet the 200 hour salt spray rating, and it is a channel tongue coupler that will let you hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle, provides the connection point right here for your two and 5/16 diameter hitch ball. Now what's unique about this one, it uses the EZ latch coupler mechanism right here.
This ensures fast, simple, secure hookup and disconnect. Basically it will let you hook up when the latch is in the closed position like it is now, you just drop the coupler over the hitch ball, the latch will snap it into place and secure it.And I'm going to demonstrate that here's a two and 5/16 diameter hitch ball that it would fit on. So you can see if I just take that coupler, drop it on the top and you push down on it. You can see it snaps right into place. This has all stayed closed, and it snaps and secures it to the hitch ball.
And then to release it, just pull up all the way on the latch and it slides right off. Simple as that. There's no pin needed or safety clip to hold it into place. And again, just to show you, we close it, drop it on there, snaps right into place. The latch itself is a corrosion proof polymer nylon resin composite latch handle.
It's very durable and impact resistant. Now to lock this, you can lock this to your hitch ball so nobody takes it. Basically this hole right here is a 5/16 diameter hole. It goes all the way through. You can put a coupler lock pin lock all the way through there as long as you got to make sure it's a 5/16 diameter coupler lock.And it does have a minimum span width, from here to here is three inches.
You can put that lock pin through there, put the lock on this side and it'll lock it so nobody would take it. And again, this is a bolt on installation. You can notice on the side here it has the four bolt holes. Now the installation hardware to install this is not included. This part is made in the USA. Mounting, this is designed to mount to a three inch wide straight channel tongue. So you can see if I measure the inside to inside width on this is three inches. Again, the hitch ball, it's designed to fit onto is a two and 5/16 diameter hitch ball. And the weight capacity on this is 21,000 pounds. Easy to install and now both of my trailers have the same size ball. Eas to latch.
