Setting up tow lights can be a headache if you have to cut into factory wiring. The Trailer Mate Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit fixes that with a plug-in design that connects straight into the vehicle’s light system. No splicing, no guesswork—just a direct link that keeps things neat and reliable.
If your vehicle didn’t come with a tow package, this kit gives you everything needed to get trailer lights working right. The powered converter supplies steady power to the trailer’s running, turn, and brake lights through a standard 4-flat connector, so the signals stay clean and consistent while towing.
The plug and lead configuration keeps the install tidy. Wires route easily through existing openings or trim without drilling or cutting, leaving you with a professional-looking finish and fewer exposed connections to worry about.
Built as a dedicated vehicle-end wiring harness, this kit gives your trailer lighting a dependable link every time you hook up. It’s designed for long-term use with solid connectors that hold tight and deliver constant signal power when you hit the road.

Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this TrailerMate Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles. This is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2014 Chevrolet Malibu, and on a custom fit part like this, I do like to recommend for you to go to our website, use the Fit Guide, put in your year and model vehicle, and it'll show if this will work for your application. This kit here will let you connect your RV's tail brake and turn signal lights to your towed vehicle's lighting system.
It provides this four-way flat plug at the front of your towed car to connect to your motor home. Now this part will include everything laid out here on the table. It includes this wiring harness with the four-way flat connector. Right here it includes the 48-inch-long four-way flat extension loop, four-way mounting bracket for the front of your vehicle, and about 20 cable ties to take up any slack in the wiring, and a nice set of installation instructions. Now a brake light relay may be required if you're using this with a supplemental braking system.
That brake light relay, we do sell separately on our website. It's part number RM-88400. Basically, this plugs in very quickly and easily. There's no cutting or splicing of your wires. The connection points are located behind your vehicle's tail lights, and you have these connectors here.
The one that has the yellow wire in it is for the driver's side. Over here you have a green wire. That's for your passenger side. So you just plug these in. You have a white wire for a ground.
They do include a grounding screw. And then you just run this length of wire out to the back with your four-way. The four-way even has a nice cover on it that you could put over there when you're not towing to protect those terminals from the elements. Now, this helps safeguard your towed car's electrical system by preventing overload with the built-in diodes, and it won't interfere with your electrical system when the towed vehicle is not hooked up to the RV. It is compatible with most portable supplemental braking system. Now, additional diodes may be required if using a braking system that ties into wiring. Those, again, we sell separately, and, as we mentioned, this is custom designed to fit your specific vehicle. But that should do it for the review on the TrailerMate Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles.
