Features to know about

No More Wiring Woes: Custom Tekonsha T-One Connector

We're talking a seamless connection here—No cutting, splicing, or tapping into your vehicle's wiring needed! The T-One Connector from Tekonsha plugs right into your existing harnesses. It's engineered as a custom fit for your ride, making the setup process a breeze, especially for vehicles like the 2023 Mazda CX-5. Just plug it in and you're on the fast track to towing!

Power Your Trailer, Protect Your Ride: ModuLite Powered Converter

Worried about overloading your vehicle's electrical system? Not a problem! The ModuLite Powered Converter ensures your trailer's lights draw power directly from your car's battery, leaving your tail light circuits untouched. This means your vehicle’s three-wire system converts seamlessly into a two-wire setup that your trailer understands, without putting any extra stress on your wiring.

Stay on the Road with Reliable Signal Lights: 4-Way Flat Connector

Never worry about your trailer's signal lights being out of sync with your vehicle's. The 4-way flat trailer connector provides a dependable link that powers your trailer’s signal lights, facilitating clear communication on the road. It’s compatible with 5, 6, and 7-pole adapters too, so you're covered no matter what kind of towing setup you’ve got.

Hassle-Free Battery Connections: Included Installation Kit

Concerned about the nitty-gritty of connecting to your car battery? Included in the package is a fuse holder you connect to your battery's positive terminal. It even comes with a pre-measured wire to connect swiftly, and a fuse to get you set up with minimal effort. You can stash the connector in your rear cargo once installed for easy access.

Corrosion Fighters: Use Grease for Longevity

It’s all about making things last. The recommendation to use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections ensures that your setup fights off corrosion. This little step can protect your connector’s longevity, keeping you on the road with fewer hiccups.

Keep It Clean: Dust Cap for 4-Way Flat Connector

We know you're looking for durability and cleanliness! The T-One Connector includes a dust cap to keep dirt and debris out of your connector when it’s not in use. This protects your connections, ensuring they remain clean and functional each time you tow, maintaining those nice reliable rides everyone needs.

  • Tail lights: 7.5 amps per circuit

Installation

  • This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located inside your rear cargo area. You will have to remove the rear threshold, privacy screen, and some interior paneling to access this harness. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.
  • Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in your rear cargo area.
  • It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

  • A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights.
  • With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Note

This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Video Transcript for In-Depth Review of the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector-TK85VR

Hi there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a quick look at this Tekonsha T1 vehicle wiring harness, with this four-pull flat trailer connector. This is going to provide a four-way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle, so you can power up your trailer's signal lights, so you won't have to worry about your trailer obstructing the view of your vehicle's signal lights. Other motorists will still be able to see whether you're stopping or turning, because your trailer's lights will have the same indicators as your vehicle. This is a custom-fit kit.

It is going to work for your 2022 and newer Mazda CX5 and CX50. So this is going to be very simple to get installed because it is a custom fit for your vehicle. If you are not super familiar with working on your car, this is definitely a easy way to get transitioned into that because of our plug-and-play adapters here. You're not gonna have to cut into your vehicle's firing, worry about splicing the vehicle's wiring, and that sort of thing. So, it is going to be very simple and straight forward for you.

This does feature this modulite tail light converter that's going to ensure that your vehicle's wiring matches that of your trailer, so you're not gonna have to worry about any compatibility issues. This powered module is going to connect to your vehicle's battery to avoid overloading your vehicle's electrical system, so it's not going to put any more strain on your vehicles electrical system. It will get that extra power it needs from your battery. This will provide five amps per circuit for your stop and turn lights, and 7.5 amps per circuit for your tail lights. Now, as I said this is very easy to get connected, they do include very detailed instructions that will walk you through that process step by step.

But just a very simple overview here, you will locate your connecting points in your rear cargo area, right by your tail lights. So you'll have to get back behind your trim panel area, so right now in your vehicle, you'll have plugs that look very similar to this that are already installed that's connecting your vehicle's wiring to your tail lights. You just unplug those and then plug this in line there, so once you plug these in it's going to re complete that circuit so your vehicle's tail lights will operate like normal, whether you have your trailer plugged in or not. And then it's also going to send those signals out to your trailer. So your yellow wire is gonna be on your driver's side, so you'll plug that in there.

Your green wire is gonna be on your passenger side. They do include some double sided tape here so that you can get this module mounted on a flat surface. You will need to ground this, so they include a self tapping screw here that you can ground this to a metal surface back there, pretty easy to get that put in place. And then, the most difficult portion of this installation is going to be routing your wire up to your battery. So they've got this black wire here, and then some extra black wire for that extra distance. So you'll use one of the butt connector's, get that crimp down on one side, then the other side will go for your extended wiring. You'll run this up to your battery compartment, you want to make sure you're staying away from anything hot or moving that could potentially damage your wire. They do include the zip ties here for you, so you can keep that up off the ground, and where you want it to be. Once you get up to your battery compartment, then you'll take the other butt connector, put it on the other end of that wire, crimp it down. The other side is going to go onto your fuse holder here, so you'll snip or cut this, one side will go to your butt connector that's connecting back to the unit, the other side is going to get the ring terminal put on it and that's going to connect right onto your positive battery post, so it will get the power sent through. Once you have everything installed, then you can install your fuse, and that's included into the fuse holder there and you'll be ready to go. So, very straight forward process. If you don't have lifts to get underneath your vehicle, running that wire might be a little bit time consuming, kind of tedious trying to slide under your vehicle to find places to wrap that. But otherwise it is a very simple and straightforward installation, and then your four-way flat connector will be stowed in your rear cargo area, so that whenever you're ready to tow you can simply pick it up, plug it into your trailer, and you'll get that wiring connected for your trailer wiring. This is gonna be compatible with your five pole, six pole, and seven pole adapters. So, if your trailer uses a different kind of a wiring system you can get an adapter, those are sold separately. We have lots of options available here at etrailer.com that will allow this to then be compatible with your trailer system, and it also has this dust cap to protect your connections from dirt and debris, that sort of thing when you're not using it. So overall, like I said very simple installation with that plug-and-play wiring there. You're not gonna have to cut into your vehicle's wiring, it's gonna provide the power that it needs, and so it is going to be a pretty straight forward installation. I've installed a system like this on my wife's vehicle, and I thought it was very simple to do. Just routing that wire up to your battery, like I said it gonna be the most strenuous portion, but overall very doable for you to do in your garage in the weekend and that sort of thing. So that completes our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching..

Only one thing, I take the power from the outlet 12 volts 15amp from the cargo. I split the positif wire and use it for supply the power box. My small trailer use less then 4 amp led lights and I put a 7.5 fuse on the supply positive wire line.Be alert to not use more then 8 amp cooler or something else thing when you plug your trailer. Not like the way of supply the box from under the car to the direct car battery. Thank You.

The youtube video explained step by step to install the wiring harness and how to remove the plastic covers. The OEM wiring harness uses tap-splice terminals to connect to the OEM wiring harness. I wanted a system that did not damage the OEM wiring harness. This system is clean & neat!

This is the second time I’ve used this brand on a vehicle and it’s just simple. Having a CX 50 hybrid , the battery and fuse box are in the trunk area of the vehicle making wiring that much easier!

I have not installed this yet, but have done several without these connectors, and this will be much easier and more reliable in the long run, I am sure. The etrailer excellent video was extremely helpful for learning what to do on my specific vehicle. The video is very detailed.

Harness was easy to install, and works as advertised.

2022 Mazda CX-5

Fit perfectly!

Great hitch. Instructions pretty decent, though they don’t have every step covered. I bought the wiring controller and harness as well. One challenge was getting the power wire from the controller to the battery. I get every vehicle is different, but if they offer instructions for this vehicle, that step should be included.

Install went well. Hitch looks great and functions great also.

Fast shipping. Great packaging. Everything you need included.

2023 Mazda CX-5

Great product! This worked well for my 2023 Mazda CX-5. The installation video was very helpful. If you have a 2023 CX-5 you should remove a couple of small trays on either side of the spare tire. The clips will release if you pull the trays straight up.

  • Does Tekonsha Trailer Wiring Kit for 2025 Mazda CX-50 Also Fit Hybrid Models
Hey Mike, yes the Tekonsha trailer wiring harness part # TK85VR that you referenced does fit the hybrid models of the 2025 Mazda CX-50 like you have. This does install to the battery in a different way like you mentioned since the battery is in a different location. That would be only difference. I attached a picture of a review from a customer who installed it on a hybrid model and noted the different battery connection.

  • Plug and Play Brake Controller Recommendation for a 2024 Mazda CX-50
Hey Danny, thanks for reaching out! I recommend using the Curt Echo Under-Dash Bluetooth Brake Controller # C27JR which will plug into your 2024 Mazda CX-50 using the Adapter # C32FV as long as your CX-50 has the factory tow package. I really like this brake controller because you adjust your settings via an app on your phone and then the controller remembers the settings and remains up under your dash so it doesn't affect the look of your vehicle at all. If your vehicle doesn't have...
