Getting trailer lights working doesn’t need to be a project. The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package plugs right into the existing connector, giving you a ready 4-flat trailer plug for tail, brake, and turn signals. It’s a simple plug-in harness—no cutting or splicing—so you can have functional trailer lighting in minutes.
This harness uses the factory tow package connector, so everything ties in cleanly behind the panels where it belongs. The hidden, plug-and-lead design keeps wiring out of sight and protected while keeping your setup looking stock.

Today we're going to take a look at the Curt t-connector vehicle wiring harness with the four-way flat trailer connector for the factory tow packages. This is a custom-fit part, it is designed to fit the 1996-2003 Chevrolet Express vehicles and GMC Savannah vehicles. On a custom-fit part I always like to recommend to go to our website, use our fit guide, put in your year and model vehicle and it will show you if this will work for you application. This harness will provide a four-way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer signal lights. This particular harness is designed for vehicles with the factory tow package. This does connect very quickly and easily; there's no cutting or splicing or wires. Basically you locate the connection point that's in the rear cargo area, plug that it, ground your white wire, run the four-way out the back and you're all ready to go. It also comes with this nice dust cap that you can pop onto the four-way just like this over the plug itself.
You can leave it on there if you like, and then when you're not plugged into your trailer just put that dust cover over the terminals, it protects the terminals from any damage or from the elements themselves. A few specs on this: the maximum amperage on the stop and turn light circuits is three amps per circuit, for the tail lights it's five amps total. It does come with everything shown here, it has a nice set of detailed instructions that describe how to install it and even gives you pictures of you connection points. Comes with some cable ties that take up any slack in the wiring, and it comes with a ground screw. Basically, when you go to install this it's very simple basically what you do is go to the rear cargo area of the vehicle and you locate your factory tow harness connector, which is usually behind the jack storage cover on the vehicle. Once you find that you'll just take the cap off and plug this into that connector. You have this white wire with the outlet on it, you want to connect this to a good, clean ground, so they do include a grounding screw.
Drill a hole, make a good clean ground. Once those are all connected, just run this length of wire out the back and then take your cover off and you'll have it plug into your trailer and it will supply the lights on your trailer. Exactly what I needed. Plugged right into the original1998 Conversion Van factory install wiring. (I was afraid the wiring might not work after all these years) Tested and wow trailer lights work. Saved me a bundle, Chevrolet dealer wanted $150 to install wiring harness. I do not have the convenience of wiring being hidden under the van permanently, however I can live with pulling through the back doors when required, because I will only pull trailer occasionally with this vehicle.

The Curt Electrical Harness is great, snapped right into the Van connection; however, the Hopkins 48595 mounting bracket that I ordered for the Curt 4-way connection doesn't work, it isn't made to be compatable with the Curt connector, so the Hopkins 48595 mounting bracket was a waste of money. Maybe I overlooked any compatibility notes, if not, you should have compatibility notes, something like Hopkins mounting bracket not compatable with Curt 4 way connector.
I needed to rent a utility trailer to move some furniture. None of the local auto parts stores had a easy quick connector for trailers. I contacted this company and they had an exact fit connector. I simply snapped it in and I was ready to go. Plus, they shipped it real fast.
