Kenda Loadstar KR17 Radials

Unlike standard trailer tire tread, which has solid, continuous ribs, the automotive-grade, computer-generated tread on these Karrier Loadstar KR17 radials has ribs with breaks. These breaks allow water to run off to the sides. The Karrier Loadstar KR17 tread also has sipes. Siping is a process in which thin grooves (or sipes) are cut into the rubber of the tire. The grooves channel water away from the tread so that the tire makes better contact with the road. Both of these features greatly improve traction during wet, snowy, or icy conditions. The tread on this tire also has a 5-rib, variable pitch tread block design. Because the blocks of tread are wider at the edges and skinnier in the center, this design will reduce the overall road noise you experience while towing.

Karrier Loadstar KR17 radials are constructed with double steel belts and full nylon plies for increased durability and endurance. The premium rubber compound materials of this tire help disperse heat.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

Video Transcript for Review of Kenda Tires and Wheels - Tire Only - KE88XR

Jeff: Hello everybody, this is Jeff at Today we're going to take a look at this Kenda Loadstar ST215/65R17 radial trailer tire in a Load Range C. Now this is a radial ply tire, which is great for highway use. It's constructed with double steel belts and full nylon plies for a nice long life, and they do use an automotive grade tread. Just want to zoom in here a little bit. This automotive grade tread has sipes, which are the cuts in the blocks here.

That'll channel water away from underneath the tire, helps improve traction during wet snowy or icy conditions, and it is a five rib tread design. It has a variable pitch block design that will help reduce road noise. Now this tire is a ST tire, which means Special Trailer tire. It has the sturdy sidewalls so that it can handle heavy loads. It is created specifically for trailers, it's not intended for use on any other vehicles, and this does meet the DOT Department of Transportation specifications. A few specs for this tire.

It's designed to fit wheel size of 17 inch by 6 inch wide, 17 by 6 1/2 inch wide, 17 by 7, and 17 by 7 1/2 inch wide wheels. The tire size, which will be stamped on the sidewall ST for Special Trailer 215/65R17. The R stands for Radial design tire. Section width on this is 8 1/2 inches, overall diameter from the bottom to the top when it's inflated is 28 inches. This is a Load Range C tire, which means it's a six ply rated tire. It has a maximum load capacity of 1,874 pounds at 50 PSI, and the last thing I do want to mention is most all the new trailer tires come through with a speed rating on them and a speed rating is designated by a letter designation.

So right after the size that we just went over, you'll see two numbers for the load index, and at the very end is the letter M. Speed rating M will mean 81 mile per hour speed rating. But that should do it for the review on this Kenda Loadstar ST215/65R17 Radial trailer tire in a Load Range C.

I haven’t gotten the tires on my trailer yet so I can’t offer a review for them.
I was told shipping would be delayed for 4 months so I ordered the same tire ($[XX] each X4 more) another provider.
I didn’t see the email that my tires as shipped before I could cancel the order. Now I have 8 tires and have to pay to return 4. I would have appreciated a phone call. Other than that I thought company was easy to work with.

Thank you for reaching out! If you found the same product at a cheaper price, you may want to take a look at our Lowest Price Pledge to see if this qualifies for a refund. I have attached the link.

Have purchased two of these tires and belts broke in both tires.I wouldn't recommend for a boat trailer they are only 5 ply tires.

I will have our Customer Service team reach out to you. The tires do have a 1 year warranty.

This tire is well matched for moderate weight trailers. Currently running 4 of them on a dual axle bass boat trailer. Smooth and well balanced for immediate use.

Tire was ordered for a customer, they haven't came back and said it was bad so
I think it is all good.

I just had these tires mounted on the wheels today, so I can't really comment on the tire. I mean it's a great looking tire, but as far as how long it last and all that, we'll see. As far as dealing with e-trailer, it's about as easy as it gets. Everything was exactly as they said it would be, I got plenty of updates on shipping, which was great (expect for a weather delay, which was not E-trailers fault). I am very happy with this purchase from E-T. I was going to include a picture, but they basically look like tires, round, black, you know how it goes.

After trying to source my boat trailer tire at my two go to "tire shops" that they no longer could order my wife found it on etrailer. I jumped online, ordered the tire and had a shipping confirmation within minutes. It was so simple. Price was exactly what I expected and the shipping fee was on me because of the urgency. Impressed with everything.

These tires quality don’t differ much from other good quality trailer tires we’ve used in the past, however they are available in some unusual sizes.
That being said etrailer as a company delivers early or on time as well as provides great customer service. I will continue to buy from them based on expire next for sure!

The worse tire you can buy. Went through 4 in one year with the radial separating. etrailer was great though.

I will have our customer service team reach out to you. This tire has a 1-year worry-free guarantee.

This fire replaced a new Kenda Loadstar on my bass boat trailer, that failed. Not a fan of these tires and they are hard to find, but wanted the same tire as the others on my trailer. etrailer was the only place I could find a replacement, their shipping was fast but the tire was very pricey. etrailer is a good company, that will have what you need for most any application.

etrailer is one of the only places that had the tire I needed for my trailer. Ordering was simple and shipping was fast. Will definitely use them in the future.

Thanks for the quick service

Great tires and service.

Great service I’m not happy with their warranty service but that’s not your fault . Thanks

The warranty for these tires are actually quite good. The 6 year warranty has a 1 year worry-free guarantee. No matter what happens to your tire, it will be covered.
