Hi there neighbors. Today we're going to be taking a look at Stromberg Carlson's platform steps. It's available in either a fixed height or with adjustable legs. Both are going to be 19 inches long by 14 inches wide. There are many different uses for our step. Here we've got our fifth wheel trailer and the steps are higher off the ground than your typical steps.
So this adds an additional step to help you more easily get up inside your fifth wheel. And on top of our step we've got non-skid grip tape so we don't have to worry about slipping. Inside our fifth wheel trailer, I'm over six feet tall, and I still can't reach up to the ceiling to change out the light bulbs or whatnot. But with our step, I can easily get up there and access these to make our repairs. And I like that when I'm all done, I can just grab it by the handle, which makes it really easy to hold while folding your legs in.
And I can stow it off to the side out of the way.It's made of a lightweight aluminum. So it's going to be rust resistant as well as easy to haul around. And even though it's made of aluminum, it still has a 1000 pound carrying capacity. So you can easily use it to get heavy items into your fifth wheel camper or RV. Our fixed step has two different heights.
With the legs folded out, it's going to measure eight and one eighth inch from the ground to the top surface.We can fold our legs in. And now we've got a much shorter step measuring only three and an eighth inch from the ground to the top of the surface. Our adjustable step is also three and an eighth inch from the ground to the top of the surface when the legs are folded in. On our adjustable step with our legs folded out, we'll have four different height settings. We're currently on our lowest setting, which is seven and seven 16th inches from the ground to the top of the surface.
To adjust the legs to the next height, simply pull out the tab and slide it up until it locks in again. We'll have four of those. And our highest setting is going to be eight and three quarters of an inch.Stromberg Carlson recently updated this design to have the knobs be on the inside of the legs. What's nice about this is when they are folded out, they don't stick out this far so there's less chance of anything catching it. And when it's folded in, the knobs lock into the channels here, which prevents them from adjusting accidentally. In addition to the height adjustment knob, the feet we're also adjusted on both our fixed model and our adjustable model. Previously, it used to have rubber feet that slid over the legs. The problem with the previous edition is that the legs would eventually wear through those and poke out the bottom. You'd then have metal contact to the ground, which doesn't give you the non-skid surface that the rubber does. We've now got flush mount flat pads that go inside a groove on the bottom. And this way it's got a flat contact against the bottom. So the legs can never push through. So you're always going to have your rubber feet there with more surface area, giving you a nice non-skid surface. You'll notice here that our fixed model is slightly smaller than our adjustable..

Great folding platform. Very strong, yet a reasonable weight.
Great product. This stool is even better than the previous model (which we inadvertently ran over). Well made, very sturdy yet light enough in weight to lift by the handle with one hand. Legs fold in for stool to lay flat in our van. Would definitely recommend this product.
Very solid step. It is made from a thicker cast aluminum that seems to be able to take the load of being used well. Much stronger than welded style.

Bought this to make it easier for my Sheltie to enter and exit my Little Guy Mini Max trailer. It was expensive, but I have had to adjust the legs separately at some campsites. It is very well made and suits my purpose. Other similar stools were cheaper, but I'm completely satisfied with this one. [Wish I could find a taller stool just like it (14-16" high) so I could dispense with the pull-out step on my trailer entirely.] FYI, I put a bicycle lock on it when in use so it doesn't 'walk off' when I'm camping.
Super easy to adjust for uneven terrain, very sturdy, does not slip out of position even when transporting it in my trailer feet down, large platform allows for secure footing albeit while wearing regular shoes/boots and or motocross boots. Lightweight, and easy to clean. I highly recommend this step.
We looked for quite a while before purchasing a step. We have had such a good experience with etrailer that we pretty much get all of our products from them. Customer service is AMAZING when needed (which is mostly for recommendations on which product to choose!
We have been using a very flimsy plastic step when needed below our RV and finally made this purchase. We have been prioritizing made in the USA products, and this step is made in Michigan. Good ole USA!
It is very sturdy, just the right dimensions, easily expanded and folded up, and the mechanisms are intuitive. It has a good weight to it and i like that it has cut outs to use as built in handles.
There was no need to read instructions (although we did). It came with reflective tape to add to the edges of the step if we wanted to. We did, so that at night it would be more easily seen.
I like that the rubber tips on the legs are not the "sock" type. I heard that the legs can wear through the rubber, therefore, the company modified it. Sounds like they are continually taking feedback and making improvements.
The pics look like this is white, it is not. It is a graphite color. We really like the powder coating and stability. Would highly recommend
I bought this to help my dad get into my truck. It will work perfectly. It's very stable, big enough to be safe and easy to stow.
Works very well
This step was one of the best products that I have purchased for my RV. It works great at providing a level landing when I am in sites that require higher than usual leveling up on the exit side of the RV.
Tried out these steps today and they will not move or tilt. Nice sure footed platform. Did receive the early versions of this step which are fine,but the new version as pictured with the pull clips on the inside was what I would of liked to receive. No problem will order again. Thank you.

This stool still meets, even exceeds our expectations. I have shown it to many other camper van owners at various campgrounds. Definitely the best step stool weve ever owned.
