Video Transcript for Adjustable-Height, Folding Platform Step Review

Hi there neighbors. Today we're going to be taking a look at Stromberg Carlson's platform steps. It's available in either a fixed height or with adjustable legs. Both are going to be 19 inches long by 14 inches wide. There are many different uses for our step. Here we've got our fifth wheel trailer and the steps are higher off the ground than your typical steps.

So this adds an additional step to help you more easily get up inside your fifth wheel. And on top of our step we've got non-skid grip tape so we don't have to worry about slipping. Inside our fifth wheel trailer, I'm over six feet tall, and I still can't reach up to the ceiling to change out the light bulbs or whatnot. But with our step, I can easily get up there and access these to make our repairs. And I like that when I'm all done, I can just grab it by the handle, which makes it really easy to hold while folding your legs in.

And I can stow it off to the side out of the way.It's made of a lightweight aluminum. So it's going to be rust resistant as well as easy to haul around. And even though it's made of aluminum, it still has a 1000 pound carrying capacity. So you can easily use it to get heavy items into your fifth wheel camper or RV. Our fixed step has two different heights.

With the legs folded out, it's going to measure eight and one eighth inch from the ground to the top surface.We can fold our legs in. And now we've got a much shorter step measuring only three and an eighth inch from the ground to the top of the surface. Our adjustable step is also three and an eighth inch from the ground to the top of the surface when the legs are folded in. On our adjustable step with our legs folded out, we'll have four different height settings. We're currently on our lowest setting, which is seven and seven 16th inches from the ground to the top of the surface.

To adjust the legs to the next height, simply pull out the tab and slide it up until it locks in again. We'll have four of those. And our highest setting is going to be eight and three quarters of an inch.Stromberg Carlson recently updated this design to have the knobs be on the inside of the legs. What's nice about this is when they are folded out, they don't stick out this far so there's less chance of anything catching it. And when it's folded in, the knobs lock into the channels here, which prevents them from adjusting accidentally. In addition to the height adjustment knob, the feet we're also adjusted on both our fixed model and our adjustable model. Previously, it used to have rubber feet that slid over the legs. The problem with the previous edition is that the legs would eventually wear through those and poke out the bottom. You'd then have metal contact to the ground, which doesn't give you the non-skid surface that the rubber does. We've now got flush mount flat pads that go inside a groove on the bottom. And this way it's got a flat contact against the bottom. So the legs can never push through. So you're always going to have your rubber feet there with more surface area, giving you a nice non-skid surface. You'll notice here that our fixed model is slightly smaller than our adjustable..
