Hi, everyone, Steve here with etrailer.com. Today, we're looking together at our Pacbrake Alpha HD Pro Air Bag Suspension Kit with internal jounce bumpers. Folks, this are for the rear axle, and they're rated at 5,000 pounds capacity. Now, these are custom fit, so make sure you're getting in the right parts for your specific vehicle. In this case, it looks like they're fitting an '05 to '23 Toyota Tacoma. Now, folks, these are gonna be loosely fit together on my table today, so this is kinda what they look like when they're installed.
I wanna start off by showing you what that jounce looks like inside that internal jounce stop, or bump stop some people call it. That's that orange thing there in the cutout picture there. That's gonna always be in there, so even if you, God forbid, had a loss of air pressure, you would still have something in there to keep you, you know, some stability. Now, everything that's in this other picture I'm gonna throw up, that's what you're gonna get included in the box. All the hardware, the air line, the push-to-connect fittings, all the laser-cut precision brackets, all the air bags, hardware, everything you see there is gonna be included.
So again, I just have these kinda loosely fitted together on the table today for your viewing pleasure. There's the bottom, back. So again, folks, why air bags Well, if you're squatting in the back of your vehicle and your lights are pointed up towards the sky, these will help get your back level, keep the traction where it needs to be on the front and the rear simultaneously, so giving you that load support. It's gonna increase, again, stability, ride quality, reduce that rear-end sag, sway, and bounce, giving you a much smoother ride. These can hold between 5 to 100 psi, depending on your load.
And as I mentioned, they have an internal jounce inside of there. So these are ready to go out of the box as far as once you put them together and install them. For manual inflation, you can connect or purchase separately and on-board air system if you so choose to then do it all from inside the cab. Now, I wanna speak a little bit about that internal jounce. So a lot of people will call in like, "Hey, do I need this Do I not need this" What the installers have told us over the years and the tech support with the manufacturer as well is that that internal jounce is gonna be great if you're the kinda person that has a super heavy load in the bed at all times.
Whether it's an in-bed camper, you're a contractor, you got job boxes, heavy tools, whatever that's always back there, these would be a great option for you. If you're only towing heavy loads every once in a while, you actually might not like these in there all the time with that internal jounce. You might wanna pick up the ones that don't have the internal jounce in there that fit this same year, make, and model just to give you a smoother ride all the time. So again, it's great when you have those extra heavy-duty loads in there all the time, but some people have told us over the years that, "Hey, with these internal jounces, I feel every bump now in the road when I'm empty. What can I do about that" So keep that in mind whenever you're picking out the right one for your specific needs. The brackets are not built heavy enough
good product , good strong solid metal parts and heavy bags. The instructions were not so hot but was easy to figure out and quick delivery !
Easy install. Will pull trailer 3000 miles on vacation and see how it performs to Montana on highways and Forest Service roads.
Where to start I have 1500 pounds of tools in my 150 Chevy had them installed and it totally changed the ride and handling of the truck haven’t pulled anything yet but I’m amazed on how different the truck is already I Baught the ones with the bump stops in them the HD ones

My experience with loading my truck and seeing the difference with these air bags from PacBrake, it does look way better and the truck feels a bit more stable running atspeed limit (65mph) after that it does feels jumpy if you go over potholes, but overall I'm happy with the product, thanks Etrailer,
2020 Ram 1500.
Installation is fidgety with lining everything together for the upper bracket with u-bolt(reason for 4 stars), but still preferred over cutting the bump stop mounts off. Replaced the Timbrens with this and it is night and day difference in ride quality both unloaded and towing.
Would purchase again.
Product is well constructed and installation is straightforward. But you cannot build the kit and slip it in, you have to leave the top bracket off and install it after setting the lower bracket and air bag in place. I will note, I was working off jack stands and a floor jack, not on a lift.
