Features to know about

Keep the Truck Level and in Control: Up to 5,000 lbs of Load-Leveling Support

Heavy trailers and bed loads can make the rear end sag, throwing off steering, braking, and headlight aim. The LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate air springs add up to 5,000 lbs of load-leveling capacity to keep your truck level from front to back. By sharing the weight across all four wheels, handling feels balanced and confident whether you’re towing a camper or hauling a full bed of gear. The adjustable setup helps maintain safe headlight aim and reduces strain on your factory suspension.

Smooth Out Rough Roads: Internal Jounce Springs for Comfort and Control

Uneven roads and heavy bumps can make towing a rough ride. Each LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate spring has an internal urethane jounce that cushions impacts and smooths out the ride when air pressure is low. These built-in jounces act as overload springs that engage progressively—the more you load them, the stiffer they become—so you get steady support without harshness. Even if pressure drops, the internal jounce lets you temporarily carry a load until the air system is adjusted.

Dial In the Ride You Want: Adjustable Air Pressure from 5 psi to 100 psi

Every haul is different, so having control over ride height matters. With a pressure range of 5–100 psi, you can fine-tune for the perfect balance between comfort and support. Inflate the springs for heavy loads or towing duty, then drop back down to 5 psi for a smoother unloaded ride. Manual inflation valves and air lines are included for easy setup, and the system can be paired with an optional in-cab compressor or wireless control for quick adjustments on the fly.

Built Tough for Long-Term Use: Reinforced Air Bags with Roll Plates and Zytel Endcaps

Durability counts when your suspension carries real weight. These air bags use 2-ply, fabric-reinforced rubber with corrosion-resistant Zytel nylon endcaps that are lighter and stronger than steel. Air Lift’s exclusive upper and lower roll plates guard against punctures from nearby components and improve spring rate at lower pressures for better ride quality. The urethane jounces require no maintenance and hold up in both hot and cold conditions, backed by a lifetime warranty with no mileage limit.

Straightforward DIY Setup: Everything You Need in the Box

Installing serious load support doesn’t have to be complicated. The kit includes mounting brackets, hardware, manual inflation valves, and air lines for a clean DIY installation using hand tools. Once mounted, just inflate through the valves—typically located on the bumper—and you’re ready to go. The system works on its own or can be upgraded with an optional compressor kit for in-cab monitoring and automatic pressure control. It’s a practical, adjustable upgrade built for everyday hauling and towing.

Great product, air bag installation was easy, but where to put the compressor was difficult. Ended up mounting it next to the evaporator next to the fuel tank. had to make a plate to mount it to.

by:

I had a few questions and concerns about my application (07Tundra) Donna answered all my questions and price matched from another web site. The bags are great and service my needs well. I pull a 30' 5th wheel camper with no squat. I have since bought a different truck and have installed the same bags on it. Highly recommend

by:

Product worked well, Naomi was knowlegable and very helpful

by:

These air springs have worked well. Installation, although not easy, was straightforward enough for this experienced DIY mechanic. They have reduced "porpoising" when towing our 5K+ lb. travel trailer.

by:

It's doing exactly what we hoped it wou ld

by:

Work perfect! I installed these on my 2014 tundra to help with hauling a 30’ enclosed trailer when we were moving. Trailer weighed basically my max tow rating for my truck (10500lbs) and with these bags the truck sat perfectly level and towed like a dream! Well the supercharger also helped.

by:

Air bags are perfect! They ride smooth and definitely a plus with air compressor kit. Thanks for all of your help Katrina B.!

by:

The 2019 Tundra is lacking in rear springs(soft).Squat too much when camper attached. These airbags solved that problem. Truck levels nicely and ride is firm. No issues so far. It does stiffen the ride when empty but it is a truck! Install fairly simple. Need more beef? Buy this product.

by:

Hi guys, just a note to tell you the bags work great. Had them installed professionally, set the pressure to 40, and with my Toyota tundra drove to Florida. Outstanding!
Thanks , I’ll keep you in mind. Ken

by:

As usual, the service from etrailer.com was great. The installation went pretty well. The instructions were clear and understandable and the installation went as depicted in the instructions. The most difficult part was routing the air lines in safe areas (especially around the exhaust pipe) and then inserting the end into the fitting on the top of the unit since it is nearly impossible to see what you are doing. However, all went well and I had no leaks. Can't wait to get some miles on the truck to see how the ride is with and without the trailer attached.

by:

Installation took about 2 1/2 hrs. on my 2017 Tundra. I thought the instructions were very accurate and easy to follow. I did notice there was no torque spec. for the 3/8 bolts that attached the bottom plate and bowl to the air bag. Other then that everything was straight forward. I'm an old school tech. so I just used a standard USS thread torque chart. I installed these air bags to help stabilize the load when pulling my 32 ft travel trailer. Will be putting them to the test in a couple of weeks on a rather long trip. As for now........5 stars for the installation and etrailers support.

Lawrence, thank you for your review. The torque spec of the 3/*8 bolt is listed at the bottom of page 7 of the installation instructions. Since these figures are subject to change I cant list them here for liability reasons.

by:

Easy install and a definite ride improvement when hauling a load of mulch for the garden. The built in bottom out bumper is a lot softer that the previous air bags that were installed. I would recommend these to anyone needing a little boost in their ride.

by:

Let me be clear- eTrailer is a great outfit but from my experience with AirLift I recommend eTrailer drop the product line. The AirLift Customer Service is worse than ChiCom support which is 6,000 miles away. 5 or 6 Emails to AirLift over the last couple of months and not a single response. Specifically, in an old AirLift system I bought maybe 10 years ago there was a low-pressure sensor which automatically maintained a minimum 5+ psi in the air-bag system. Going under that pressure voids their warranty. That feature looks to be discontinued in more recent AirLift systems. Maybe a cost cutting effort, and maybe a way to deny warranty claims. Since AirLift doesn't communicate I know nothing for sure. I finally found from other vendors a pressure switch and fitting to install this very important capability and will now begin the install. Buy the more expensive Firestone system. Wish I had.

Thank you for your review. In order to monitor the air pressure in the Air Lift air bags you would need to install an air compressor system in the vehicle that monitors the air pressure and can automatically maintain the minimum air pressure. The Air Lift WirelessAIR Compressor System for Air Helper Springs part AL74000EZ automatically restores air pressure when it falls below a safe pressure. It also allows you to use your smart phone to adjust the pressure.

I compared this product with the Firestone offering for my vehicle and chose AirLift for several reasons:
1- The internal jounce bumpers. I liked the idea of being able to run with little to no air pressure. I also thought this necessary because I needed eliminate the factory bump-stops to install.
2- This product was made in Lansing, MI. I like supporting local industry.
3- I liked the fact that the load from the spring transferred directly into the frame of the truck vs. the offset brackets that came with the Firestone product.

I am impressed with and disappointed with this product. We will start with my likes:
- The bags do carry the load. I can level the truck regardless of what is in the back or on the trailer hitch.
- The towing experience is much better with the bags in the back. The rear springs on the Tundra (probably true of most half ton trucks) for 900# of tongue weight even with weight distribution. The bags eliminated the extreme up/down bounce that come with very stiff weight distribution bars.
- The kit is very well engineered and the installation went very well.
- Airbags are an excellent compliment to a good WD hitch.

My dislikes:
- The internal jounce bumpers are awful. IMO they engage way too early. With no pressure in the bags they might as well be steel blocks. The truck crashes into them after only 1.5" of travel (railroad crossings, speed bumps, and undulations in the road. With 5-10 psi in the bags this is better but the stock ride of the truck is gone. It now feels more like a ¾ ton truck in the back (smoother because you are riding on air but there is very little suspension motion).
- An airbag acts as a spring when the suspension compresses but it also acts like a spring when the suspension extends. The down travel of the rear suspension is limited. You notice this when you drive through a dip in the road at speed. Not only do I have limited down travel but when the tuck unloads the back of truck runs out of up travel way before the front.

I am not sure what the future hold. I love the bags while towing my travel trailer and hate the bags when unloaded. I think that the best option would be a SumoSpring. I did not go this route because most people say that they engage to abruptly and wreck the ride. Well, so do these Airbags. At least with a SumoSpring I would keep the down travel of the suspension. I am considering purchasing a set for evaluation.

AirLift offers an unconditional 60 day return policy. However 60 days did not prove to be enough time to really evaluate this product. Right away I noticed the problems with the ride of the truck. I played with air pressure etc. At 90 days I knew what I really didn't like. I wrote AirLift an e-mail but did not receive a response.

Would I buy again? Maybe. It is a love/hate relationship.

Saving money is always a bonus! I'm glad that even after a year you love the system so much. Here's to many more miles, Erik!

by:

Fast shipping! Install went smooth. I put Jack stand on rear frame to allow axle to lower and used Jack under differential to raise and lower axle as needed. System works great.

by:

Super happy with my purchase

by:

Seems OK. It hasn't been installed as y et.

by:

So far so good; the product performs as it should. Install took about 4 hours to do myself. Reading the instructions and watching the installation video before the install was super helpful. etrailer reps were also very helpful answering any questions prior to purchasing.

by:

This system came with all the correct pieces and was easy to assemble. The instructions were simple to follow and everything fit as described in the text. I routed the air lines to the outside of the frame rails to create a natural heat shield from the exhaust. I also upgraded the zip ties to heavy duty cable ties for securing the air lines all around. I also added jam nuts to all the bolts, which was probably unnecessary but gives me peace of mind.

by:

Fit well on my Tundra. A little rougher ride but nit bad and works well.

by:

Excellent product. I had the old version on an old truck and had issues- especially not having the jounce bumper. This new one has been excellent. Only thing I'd change is... spend a little extra and get the pump and wireless control... that my next upgrade. It's easy enough to adjust these with my cordless inflator...but that extra little bit will really make it a 5 start setup. 2020 Tundra TRD sport, tracrac, 4' tool boxes, access tonneau and bedside 1500. truck sagged without the airbags.

by:

Installing this was easy if you follow the instructions and look at video installation as reference. I took my time about 4 hours from start to finish. Ready to help with towing our 30' Coleman travel trailer with our Toyota Tundra to the grand canyon this summer.

Overall I am very pleased with the LoadLifter 5000. I purchased for a 2017 Tundra 1794 which we pull a 26' travel trailer. Prior to purchase the truck & trailer had a noticeable sag and it was challenging to distribute the weight in the trailer to reduce the sag. With the LL5000 the sag is eliminated with around 40 psi and the overall feel of the truck & trailer was much more solid and less bouncy when going over rough roads. Also, I was able to haul some lumber several times were the load was around 1,700 lbs which was 600 lbs over the stock capacity of the Tundra of 1,100 lbs...this was done with 60 psi. The LL5000 really showed their performance there with no sag with this load. The only reason I give a 4 out of 5 stars is the drive performance when not carrying a load or towing the trailer. Unfortunately the drive is not as smooth as the stock configuration. I've tried adjusting the pressure from 0 psi thru 30 psi in intervals of 5 psi and unfortunately there's some added bumpiness no matter which psi is selected. Overall, at around 10psi that seems to be the best ride but again, not the smoothness of the stock configuration. But if you're needing to eliminate sag with a trailer or boost your haul capacity, the LL5000 will definitely satisfy those needs.

by:

Incredible difference! Even with a weight distribution hitch i couldn’t get my toyhauler and tundra level. The internal jounce alone raised my hitch several inches but with air, Wow! Also note, you CAN keep the RAS helper springs installed. You just have to pry a little when installing the U-bolts.

  • Recommendation for Fighting Sag When Towing with a 2010 Toyota Tundra and Weight Distribution
Weight distribution (WD) systems actually take on the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle (your 2010 Toyota Tundra) as well as the tongue weight (TW) of the loaded trailer. This is why you are finding that your WD system isn't performing as well when you load down the bed of your pickup. For example, the Equal-i-zer # EQ37100ET has a TW range of 600 lbs - 1,000 lbs. If you were using this system and the 709 lb TW of your trailer plus the cargo behind the rear axle...

I would recommend the Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate Air Helper Springs # AL88299 over the SumoSprings # SSR-610-47 for your 2016 Toyota Tundra carrying a slide in camper. The Air springs allow you to adjust the air pressure in the springs to dial in your ride quality. The Air Lift kits are great, but if you want to avoid the integrated jounce bumpers, we do have another option, the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs # F2445.
